If it turns out to be like Final Fantasy Tactics then that could have something but I am not hold my breath for a high quality product. Hopefully they will be smart and bring it to the psp also.

They really need to start thinking outside of the box on there video game ideas. They could do so much more with an adventure game like God of War or event make a MMO game based on it. It would be cool to go visit the different planes and encounter the cool creatures from the game. I mean pokemon could do it as an rpg, why can't wizards of the coast figure it out.

WTF Just make the damn card game. Start with the first set and have the initial purchase be a box worth. Sell boosters for a fair price and put a set out every 4-6 months. Why is that so hard for wizards to understand. Is their Magic Online really that much of a cash cow for PC? Why not just release on consoles make it cheaper and not offer the cards for completed sets? Duels was okay but was pointlessly altered.

They won't give us the full card game as they have already shown with duels of the planeswalkers which seemed like the most promising till they decided to take out the best part of the game by not including full deck customization. Also the tapping the lands for you was annoying also. As long as they don't give you drafting they should not have to worry about loosing money on MTGO since that is where they make most of it.

I agree. I worked for Wizards as a "delegate" and at comic/card shop and saw how much money is spent on drafts. I feel like a digital version with just the game and no drafting could only promote the product. Good call.

You'd be surprised at how deep Yu-Gi-Oh can be, I used to go to tournaments a long time ago. Then I tried playing Magic and it was just too boring.
Can't say I have played Bakugan, I didn't even know it was an actual game. I just thought it was a show on Cartoon Network that got canceled after the first few months.

True, I have played both and Yu-gi-oh can be a deep cardgame, it's just like the show though, most people who play it casually will just buy one deck and be done, Magic at least requires more thought into it in terms of mana management and such.
And I haven't played Bakugan earlier, though the show isn't cancelled, they actually are on their "second" part of the series now.

I played Yu-Gi-Oh casually a while back and all my friends were pretty nerdy about it, but Magic has soo much more depth imo. There's just so much more available. Makes sense as it's been around a lot longer than Yu-Gi-Oh has. I still play MTG often today and I'm finally learning about other forms of play like EDH.

Old school players, myself included, say that Magic was destroyed 10+ years ago with the introduction of the stack concept (5th or 6th edition rules?), the general dumbing down of the rules, and then all the foil promo cards.
And yet curiously, it is still around. The following remains strong no matter how many blunders they stumble through.

The stack has always been around in concept since Alpha, its just that by 5th or 6th edition they removed interrupt spells and made all spells instant, which I believe then all spells resolved through the stack which was previously controlled by spell type.
The change they made to the stack now is that all damage must be resolved for actions other than preventative actions to take place. I can no longer take lethal damage then activate an ability on the targeted creature, the creature dies before he can use his abilities.
I may not be describing the changes exactly right , but it was something like that...

The most recent changes to the stack are fine. They just made it so combat damage is not put on the stack which makes sense.
Example, Mogg Fanatic has the ability, Sac Mogg Fanatic to do 1 damage to creature or player.
Before if you blocked a creature with 2 defense power you could block it with your mogg fanatic then put combat damage on the stack so 1 damage would be assigned to the 2 defense creature. Then you could use the mogg sac ability before combat damage resolved so the 2 defense creature would end up with 2 damage and die.
With the new rules you could block the creature with the mogg fanatic but you would have to use the sac ability before combat damage otherwise the mogg would be dead before you get the chance to use his sac ability again. The creature will still be blocked but you won't be able to kill him with just the mogg.
Hopefully that example makes sense to people.

I'd love to get back into Magic again sometime, but it's just too cost-intensive. Yeah, you can play with budget decks, but everyone knows all the good decks are loaded with rares. This game looks cool on paper, but judging by the track record of Magic video games (at least from what I've heard), there's not much cause for hope.

Actually a lot of the best decks when I played, utilized a lot of uncommons and commons, such as the psychotog deck. One of the only rares in that one was upheaval.
