Soccer reigns supreme once again in UK sales chart; DJ Hero breaks in at 20
Another football game came out in the UK last week and, once again, it came in first place in the region's weekly software sales charts. This time around, the game was Football Manager 2010, in which soccer isn't played, but rather, managed. That's far too boring a concept to discuss further, so instead, let's move to the other big debuts: Wii Fit Plus, for instance, came in second place for the week, which is -- wait a minute. Doesn't Wii Fit Plus have a "Soccer Heading" minigame? Oh, Nintendo. You know exactly what you're doing.
Episodes From Liberty City and Tekken 6 also made a splash during their launch week, garnering sixth and eighth place finishes, respectively. However, DJ Hero seems to be following its expected, slow-starting sales trajectory, debuting at twentieth place in last week's chart. We've got a small suggestion for FreeStyle Games to improve the rhythm title's performance in the UK: Needs moar Dizzee Rascal.

And this site is based in America because we invented the internet. Oh, and real home video game consoles.
You can thank us later.

Luddy's S African. This website is international.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:43PM
Also ^ that's THAT American attitude that people hate.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:07PM
Yes, foreigners do tend to hate the truth.
But when you're in trouble, it's "OH TEH NOEZ! AMERICA! SAVE US!"
Example: WWI, WWII, any natural disaster, etc.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:13PM
Yup, that's the one. Glad you realised.
greenpangolin @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:28PM
"Why does the rest of the world hate us so much?"
"Well for a start you're always saying how much you sa-"
"SHUT UP WE SAVED YOUR ASS IN WW2"

"STOP QUESTIONING THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD"

"Now why does everyone hate us so much?"
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:31PM
Maybe it's the huge piles of cash you all owe us...
Viney @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:44PM
Darth, will you shut up already and stop giving us sensible Americans a bad name?
Viney @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:53PM
Oh and FYI, the US leads the world in borrowing. Keep spouting your nonsensical BS and we could top the charts in ignorance too.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Nov 2nd 2009 3:08PM
See, it's not America that's hated, it's people like that. Thank you for speaking out against him too so I don't sound like an America-phobe. Been there twice, awesome country, lovely people, it's just THOSE (points) ones that tarnish the opinion of many.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:10PM
Tekken 6 in eighth-place? Boy, I bet Namco feels stupid shipping that many copies.
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:09PM
Eighth doesn't sound so bad when you consider the fact that it's a fighting game.
GiggMan @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:14PM
Thats pretty good for DJ hero considering the price.

"This time around, the game was Football Manager 2010, in which soccer isn't played, but rather, managed. That's far too boring a concept to discuss further"...
Yes this series is so boring that for the last iteration, FM2009, the average player played the game for 240 hours. Must be dull then.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:28PM
I enjoy managing in sports games. It's the thing I do most in Madden (though I haven't bought a Madden title since 07 for the Xbox).
Orchard Pear @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:28PM
Hence why Handegg is only played in 10 second spurts. Perfect for the stunted attention spans of an American audience. :)
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:39PM
Hey, if God had wanted people to play soccer, he wouldn't have given them arms...

goalkeeper need their arms, and some players need their arms to do throw-ins and some players need their arms to handball lol

Here's this 'special' Dark Side Cookie.

It's a QUOTE. I didn't say that was my opinion.
Comprehension FAIL.
alex @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:14PM
well if we are going to be a bunch of nobs and do "FAIL'S".
use quotation marks if you are going to quote something, so that we know it not your opinion.
QUOTATION MARK FAIL
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:30PM
It's called 'context clues' Alex. But then again, considering the lack of proper grammar on this site, I shouldn't expect people to get that.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Nov 3rd 2009 5:24PM
Actually, it's called plagiarism as you never separated your work from that of others...
RANDOM G [XBL: NYMZ777, PSN: NYMALICIOUS] @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:31PM
Well, I guess we can say goodbye to FreeStyle Games. Kotick is probably bulldozing the studio as we speak.
MrXile @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:36PM
Football Manager is a gospel to us fans who like to get into the nitty gritty of the behind the scenes action, rather than just taking our 11 players and winning a game, this is a lot more indepth than you think!
Anything and everything can be run, from the smallest thing right up to making the decision to buy that £50m player from Real Madrid.
:D
Babel @ Nov 2nd 2009 1:50PM
Yeah, I lost about four hours to the demo - the level of detail is awesome.
Definitely need to purchase it this week, along with Dragon Age.
Electro Poof [Super Nintendo IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING - Now Only $29.99] @ Nov 2nd 2009 4:08PM
£50m player from Real Madrid?
Are you talking about Karim Benzema?
You can probably get Kaká for that same price in Football Manager.
Nigeria: Charmy Bee DF @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:00PM
I remember being addicted to Football Manager - then known as Championship Manager - between 99-02.
My memories of those summers mainly consist of sending scouts to scavenge the Scandinavian leagues for the latest hot prospect. Kennedy Bakircioglu, Zlatan Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Zlatan Muslimovic, I loved these men. And let's not forget Cherno Samba, the greatest 15 year old of all time.
bkalasin @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:01PM
Wow...You mean that's a real game? I thought that someone was poking fun at the week after week sucess of all the various soocer/football titles.
And pay no attention to Darth there RobLink. Not all of us Americans are egomanical, mouth-breathing, booge-eating jackasses like him...
Yehia @ Nov 2nd 2009 2:02PM
Personally, I hate how Joystiq always belittles any article related to football (Soccer). I know the writers are American and perhaps the majority of readers are also American and the chances are they probably hate, but the attitude of these articles are quite annoying.
sam @ Nov 2nd 2009 3:11PM
Hey, I'm English and I hate football too.
Time to link this picture again though...

sinjinn @ Nov 2nd 2009 3:25PM
i dont think its belittling, its just funny how every week there is a football game at pole position.
if i were looking at an american chart and every week an american football game was at number one i would think "damn those americans love that american football so much and yet i find it so boring " and also if it were an american footbal management game i would think "damn that must be the most boring concept for a game ever"
cant really blame thme for thinking the same thing if theyre not in to footy
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Nov 3rd 2009 5:28PM
But then I could say the same about FPS, racers, RPGs, platformers etc if I'm not into that. It'd be wrong of me to belittle other people's genres of choice though (oh, and apart from FPS I like all those a lot - FPS I just can never seem to get enthusiastic about for some reason).

alex @ Nov 4th 2009 9:04PM
youve just said that in acticle about football (soccer), where most likely all these people are football (soccer) fans. did you really think you were gonna get good response from that haha there just no need to do it because
1. it was a suck ass joke
and
2. it makes it look like you want attention. which is just childish
and yes i do know it was a joke, BUT a really bad one :)
dotzeno @ Nov 2nd 2009 8:29PM
Football Manager is awesome.
greg19735 @ Nov 3rd 2009 1:26AM
fm 09 was brilliant. i'll admit i didn't play it as much as the previous games, but that's just because i don't have the time.
best moment of 09 was when i splashed like 42 mil on Sergio Aguero for my WEST HAM team.
dotzeno @ Nov 10th 2009 10:52AM
damn. 42 mil huh? is that with or without clauses?
(haven't played fm properly since fm08)
