Those of you who will be on Amazon for Black Friday (like me), you should make this your homepage:

Thanks CPR, I bookmarked it and put it near the top of my list so I wouldn't forget. I'm gonna have to avoid getting Dragon Age and the God of War collection just in case.

This just reminds me of the days when new games used to cost $50 and then once I think of that, I no longer feel that this is a deal.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. As much as I love supporting the people who make my hobby worth loving, money always wins and this generation has me buying the most used games out of all the others.

This just reminds me of the days when games were $70-80, there was no Internet to read about the game, and definitely no demos to try them out. Also, I was 9, so I had no job.

Yeah, we got spoiled with the $49.99 pricetag. Especially for games that could take months to beat. We used to pay a lot more for a lot less /back in the day/.

Amazon is the place to go for video games. With the preorder and release day delievery of MW2 and the $20 credit, I'm using that $20 to pick up Super Mario Bros Wii. Plus I have some old PSP 2000 crap to trade into them, so I'll get Super Mario Bros for even cheaper.

Pretty good deals, I shop some at amazon but you gotta weigh shipping costs and time in this. If you're not in a hurry this can be good. If you gotta have it NOW, brick and mortar really only 5 bucks more for instant gratification.

Or you can get Amazon prime, which I do and it actually saves quite a bit over the long run, esp recently since they've been offering free release date delivery. Got a 20 buck credit for preordering MW2 so I can actually buy L4D2 now. Wootles.

But then you must count the cost of sales tax for your area, plus the gas to get there. I know that seems petty to some, but when you are on one income you have to crunch numbers properly. :) Amazon all the way for me, EXCEPT when Gamestop (ugh) has those Trade-two-get-one-for-$20 deals.

You only need to consider shipping costs with Amazon if you want the delivery next day. Otherwise just choose Free delivery (available for orders over $25) and you'll have the game in your hands in a week. I use it a lot and there has been barely a day of difference with standard shipping.

Not really a big enough discount to make me jump on anything. I've come to accept that I'll always have a rolling backlog that I just can't accommodate. Figure once I catch up on a few more games I'll really start giving goozex a fair shot.

I'm at the end of Dead Space, still have brand new, basically unplayed copies of Oblivion, Uncharted, and R&C. And I'm sure I'll download Ballad of Gay Tony pretty soon... Not to mention I've been hankering to start playing Beautiful Katamari again just to scoop up some more cheevos.

In sum, I prooooobably shouldn't be buying new games all the time anymore, despite a discount :P

I agree. I'm an addict, I need to stop buying games at full price because I only start playing them once they've gone down in price anyway. Stupid.

By the time I picked up BC, it had already dropped down to $40 I think. *cries*

I am with you. Far too many games to play at home. Why pay full price for new ones I won't get to for months.

I use a spreadsheet to keep track of all the games I want. When they hit sub $30 I pick them up. Unless it is a first day must-buy, I'm about seven to eight months behind in my gaming.

Black Friday FTW! If you factor in shipping its going to cost around $50-$60 for those games unless you have Amazon Prime and get free 2 day shipping. Already got Uncharted 2 for $40 from Craigslist and Killzone 2 in February. WWE Smackdown! 2009 I rented it a few days ago and playing for trophies. Tekken 6 I got for $39.99 from Target with $25 cash paying with my credit card. I bet better deals come Black Friday so I'll wait for then but Ratchet for $44 seems interesting as I loved Tools of Destruction and Questy for Booty.

or had time to play anything.

I'm pretty much sick of myself bitching. I'm gonna go get a job or some shit.

I know, it was so hard for me. But I was able to tear away myself from my extremely well used copies of Oblivion and SR2, i decided I'd gotten as much as I would ever out of those games, and if I ever wanted them again I could just gamefly them or hope theyd be shit cheap two years from now. Im having a harder time giving up RFG and Prototype though, and I could give away Midnight Club but that was a gift : (

I'll be waiting for steam's After Christmas sales. I'm willing to bet that you'll find bigger discounts there than anywhere else. Also, I never buy console games until they're greatest hits so $50 doesn't look too appetizing.

There have been lightning deals for the Slimer editions (the ridiculously overpriced ones) of the Ghostbusters games the last couple of days, for around 40 dollars. It was pretty hilarious.
