During an interview with Develop, Infinity Ward's front-line man, Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling, recalled the early planning stages of Modern Warfare 2. Unsurprisingly, publisher and owner Activision was eager to pour money into the development of the COD4 sequel, following the basic business formula: more money = better product = more sales = more money. Infinity Ward followed another school of thought: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
"Much like we don't let ourselves get distracted by hype, if you have excess you feel like you should use excess," Bowling said. Even though Activision "estimated out a ridiculous budget" early on, Infinity Ward "didn't let the budget affect [its] mentality." Since Infinity Ward apparently didn't take the money (or, at least, all of it), we do have a pretty good idea of what Activision spent it on: night-vision goggles for everyone!

I have this strong feeling that with the launch of the game, those who bought the Prestige Edition with the googles will complain about their quality, just like the poor quality "PipBoy" in the Survival Edition of Fallout 3. Knowing Activision and Mr. Kotick, they will give you $5 cheap googles and mark up the price by 200%+.
I hope I'm wrong and as a PC gamer, I don't even have the choice to buy that version of the game.

At least the Pipboy clock can be modded into a somewhat working Pipboy:

Idk. In one sense if they had the budget behind them I think they should of expanded their team and the tools to make an even better game. It may sell like the best game ever, and I felt the original was great just absurdly overrated, so why don't they actually try and make it the best game ever? That's of course assuming they don't spread themselves too thin. But as long as they do don't that, they should of used that budget accordingly.

Wow.. if it ain't broke don't fix it right??
So FIX perfectly lag free, community oriented, modded, amazingly fun gameplay with:
Crappy P2P connections, no chance of any community-like gaming, no maps, no mods.
IWNet is NOT a new concept as many people are thinking as IW is trying to put it out; it's simply the crappy P2P system that's been used since the beginning of time, and every OTHER game on PC that has had P2P failed. miserably.
All this to charge the people that made IW what they are DLC.
Hi Bad Company. You screwed us over too DICE, you didn't bring the first Bad Company to PC, you gave us Heroes, which is decent. I'll forgive you. Never IW. And there are about 170,000 people that think JUST like me.

Mo Money, Mo Problems.......
You have to be brain-damaged or illiterate to think Activision isn't going to make truckloads of cash here. This is the top pre-order ever, the sequel to a game that _still_ sells for over $30 everywhere nearly 3 years after it's release, and one of the strongest franchises out right now.
That being said, the petition over no dedicated server, the uproar over the opening section of the game, and the fact that it selling for $60-$90 around the world is going to make some people stay away.
I was pumped for this game, but I will buy it when Activision releases a dedicated server. I can get by on COD4 and 5 multiplayer for awhile. I might even break down and rent it for the single player on XB360, but I am a multiplayer player on PC only with shooters.

i have mixed feelings with this activision and this franchise. in my opinion call of duty modernwarfare wasn't all that. single player was short, no co-op and in my opinion the multiplayer was lagfest filled with noobie non-sense. then later came the cheaters. to me world at war was an over all better package. 4 player co-op in 2 modes and a zombie mode, coupled with a longer single player campaign.
this game to me seems more of the same with modern warfare, but with less cool stuff. 2 player co-op no extra mode, well not from what i have read anyways. less of a game same money, and in some places in the world less game, more money.
im just not feeling the call of duty hype anymore i guess. its a matter of time before the multiplayer on here goes all to hell. the more popular a title the more likely some out there will ruin that experience for everyone.
in this day and time it would be hard for me to justify this purchase right now when a game like uncharted 2 was just released. lot more content, excellent game overall and it costs the same 60 bucks as this short ass "gimped" in my opinion game.
sure this post may piss some off, but it's just my opinion and thoughts on this whole call of duty craze. peace psn- dementedspirit xbl- demented spirit

Dedicated servers...pffffft. The console versions never had any dedicated servers. Cry me a river.

And yet they are looking into if not taking away dedicated servers, haven't listened to the fans interest in their love for zombie mode, and denied those who want to play co-op split screen at home. Personally none of this matters to me but that is what I have been reading and I feel as though DICE/EA listen to the consumer more than activision/infinity ward does. Don't get me wrong I think that Modern Warfare 2 is going to be a hit but by hype only. If they added at least the modes highly talked about to the game I would buy it but most likely will just because there is nothing else to play until next year

I have another formula for EA/Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty 1 (and ultimately IW's) success = 100% thanks to PC gamers = Infinity ward says thank you by removing dedicated servers in MW2 = I'm pirating this game
how do you like them apples?
