Unnecessary gameplay element? Let me ask you something, did any of the people who played the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess praise the game for not including unnecessary gameplay elements? No. They attacked the game because it failed to significantly innovate over OoT. No, there isn't such a thing as an unnecessary gameplay element. Memorable games are all innovative in some aspect. Memorable sequels doubly so.

I'm going to take a moment here to be a hopeless fanboy yet again.

...I hope we see more of Midna.

I loved Midna in Twilight Princess, but I don't think I wanna see her in another Zelda game again. Her story was completely resolved at the end of TP, and anything more would be...pointless, really.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but who else suspects this is coming out for the Wii HD and the original Wii at the same time? The next Wii would have motion plus built in, and it could also be made for both systems like TP was.

I can see it now... WiiSiXL2: The Next generation.

Well, hopefully it won't suck like Twilight Princess.

Wind Waker was the last good Zelda game.

I remember when everyone said Wind Waker was the worst Zelda ever and how awesome Majora's Mask was.
...I also remember when everyone said Major's Mask was the worst Zelda ever.

I can't wait for the new Zelda to come out, if ONLY because it means people will finally start praising Twilight Princess again like it deserves rather than hive mind bashing it.

I wander how they will handle the cuccos in this game? I'll bet they frickin rip your goddamn head off, reminds me of the good ole days when I went cucco hunting. I think I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say "please make tingle kill-able." Then all my sick fantasies will come true.

Playing through an entire Zelda game with realistic motion controls would be exhausting. A little waggle was bad enough, but now we're actually going to have to pay attention to what we are doing? Do not want.

There is a time and place for realistic motion controlls, and that place is not a 40 hour long adventure game.

It would be just like Wii tennis!
Because, you know, that's how fights with Gannondorf work. . . And who said he's going to be in this game anyways?

"You're thinking about what *does* exist, rather than what *could* exist given the new control capabilities."

What *does* exist is the best gaming franchise in gaming history,
and what *could* exist with new controls (and given Miyamoto's recent track record) is something else... something different, something that ISN'T A FUCKING ZELDA GAME!

Just like how he changed rhythm games forever with Wii Music.

Oh wait, NVM, that wasn't a game. . . or fun . . .or a good idea.

Face it, Miyamoto is getting to old for this. When was the last time you asked your grandparents for a video game recommendation?

Have ANY of you people saying how you don't want motion controls because of how much you'll have to move your arms even played the sword fighting game in Wii Sports Resort?

...we're not talking about major physical exertion here...

Moving my arm isn't the biggest of problems for me, having to precisely think about how to move my arm is. The more I focus on properly manipulating the on screen sword, the less I'm paying attention to the game itself. Also I can't be the only one who finds the constant animated pop-up icons on the screen showing the exact motion you're supposed to be doing incredibly distracting.

its pretty intuitive the swordplay, but I understand what you mean though, it can be a little annoying if you wanna play after you took a bath, and then you sweat all over again playing Zelda swinging his sword (WOOT!), in the end, the result is just a pair of toned arms, I swear.

"and what *could* exist with new controls (and given Miyamoto's recent track record) is something else... something different, something that ISN'T A FUCKING ZELDA GAME!"

But this is the thing...
People complain that something too different (Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks) is blasphemy in a Zelda game.
So they get something more familiar and they complain that it's too much of the same.

They aren't going to fundamentally change Zelda. Miyamoto has already said as much. All that really needs to change about the series is how they tell the story. Nintendo always, ALWAYS nails the gameplay. There's nothing to worry about in that regard. I can't think of what the last EAD-made game that wasn't fun to play.
The thing that ruined TP for a lot of people was the story and it's formula:
3 dungeons> mid-game boss> 8 dungeons> Gannon

It'll still be a damn fun to play, awesome Zelda game..
The only question is...did Aonuma play Okami to see how a different story SHOULD be told (and how to not have crappy music)??

Because as awesome as Twilight Princess was, Okami is better ^_^

If it's first person, I'm out.

And Wii Music is a great idea...it just didn't go nearly far enough. If it allowed you to create your own compositions and share them and stuff, it would have been awesome.
It basically should have been Mario Paint 2.

A game that managed to do things right was Majora's Mask, it managed to differentiate itself from OoT with a deep, compelling story and good atmosphere. It was fun to play and had interesting puzzles. I liked the 3-day time limit game mechanic and how it integrated perfectly with the story. The thing is, Majora's mask (and OoT) were great games using only 7 buttons and a single joystick, they relied on content and originality to get a gamer's attention instead of control gimmicks.

I want a fun game with a good story based around and original idea, not a repeat of the same old formula with fresh graphics or annoying controls tacked on. I want to play a game without distracting motion controls ruining the experience, and motion controls will always be more distracting and less precise than the press of a single digital button.

I probably wouldn't be making a big deal out of this either if it wasn't for the fact that Nintendo has been coming out with disappointment after disappointment after disappointment this generation (and a few times last gen). I just hope Miyamoto isn't actually very involved with the next Zelda because I honestly believe that he has lost his touch, is past his prime, and is frankly no longer capable of making good games.

I just really, REALLY hope Eiji Aonuma hasn't lost his touch as well.

When I hear "make it feel like your actually fighting with a sword" I think of some kid with absolutely no talent for swordplay, swinging a stick haphazardly and in general enjoying his own experience. I for one would like to see a polished fighting system, or one that rewards rhythm or timing. Like tracking the in-game avatars movement and displaying the best time to swing. Kind of like a little rhythm minigame.

Swing the sword in sync the character's stance or use a metronome-esce bar to execute powerful, accurate and deadly slashes. Or just run in, slice up the place and run out. Then again, innovation aside, who wants to put extra effort in a game that's destined to sell well anyway? *sigh*

Just like NSMBWII draws inspiration from the first few Mario games and not Mario 64. They need to look more towards the first 3 Zelda games and Link's awakening for inspiration and less OOT. People are getting tired of OOT.

Also toss in a more interesting dangerous overworld, one thats interesting enough to explore with better rewards..fuck rupees.. With more action arcade fighting like the first zeldas they could toss in jump in jump out Co-op..

And then plop an interesting story on that, that dose not involve gorons or zoras or like hyrule.

People are getting tired of OoT? When did that happen? I usually read these "We want a polished OoT remake" posts alot.

Also the first 3 Zeldas? Really? I mean Zelda 1 and 2 are good games... But it was not before Zelda 3 most of the iconic elements were introduced. Like, Alttp did everything Zelda 1 did, only better PLUS bring us goodies like the hookshot, spin attack, smashing jars and the characteristic dungeon themes (as in every dungeon has its own theme instead of just its own enemies and map shape).

About the Gorons and Zoras. I think these races are still interesting just because so little is revealed about them during the games. You get to know them by actually talking to members of their tribe instead of, say, read a book about their history or have one guy explain everything to you.

I would love 4-Sword style co-op as a multiplayer mode but not included in the main story though.

Personally what I'm expecting, when playing a new Zelda game is puzzles that actually make me think for a little bit by using new gameplay mechanics (I was stunned when I first played the Water Temple in OoT and still love it today or the Goron Mines in TP) and some cool bosses with interesting stun-hit ideas.
Swing your sword wildly to stun and then... swing it wildly to hit is not innovative nor interesting at all (I'm looking at you PH).

I hope like other games nintendo includes the ability to use regular controller and more classic controls because I for one am not a fan of motion in actions style games. Fine for sports, maybe this will be the game to change my mind.
