In the ongoing media blitz that Disney Epic Mickey (yes, it's really still named that) has been receiving over the past few weeks, the game's creative head Warren Spector has been decidedly candid. First, he spoke about the difference between the game's concept art and in-game graphics, then he discussed its roots on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and just this week, in a talk with 1UP, he confirmed his hope that the game would spawn two more adventures.
One hitch – those games have yet to be approved by his new overlords at Disney. "In my head, I've got two more planned ... those games have not approved and who knows if we'll ever see them," he said. "I had three games planned for Deus Ex and you see where that got me." As far as other titles that Spector's Junction Point Studios were working on before being acquired over two years ago, Spector confirmed that Disney has officially dropped the lot of them. Wait, even Ninja Gold?! Yes, even Ninja Gold.

Just make the first one good. Then, maybe, we can talk about sequels.

Ninja Gold is an early Mega Drive game, I'm sure of it. Though if it isn't, then it should be.
Without any details, it already sounds like one of those Shinobi/Ninja Gaiden clones that were about during the late 80s, early 90s. I can't believe Disney dropped it.

Is this guy kidding? He releases some of the most disappointing screenshots in history, and has the nerve to keep talking about this project like it's going to transform the industry.
How about you get the first game right, and then we can worry about trilogies. Until then, you're just giving us Derek Smart flashbacks.

I'll agree that it's rather early to be talking about this (we don't want to bring in airs of Too Human here. Though Spector's got a much longer and better track record than Dyack), though it would be nice.
Problem is, the game's slated for Fall 2010 release. If the following games take any time at all to release, you're sliding into the next generation. My estimate is that all three will be out by holidays 2012 at the latest, and given the traditional 2-year dev life...

After the disappointment of what the concept art promised and what the game looks like, I won't be excited for 2 and 3 until I see the first be awesome in at least SOME way.

Here's hoping they can envision a less stupid title than "Epic Mickey."
