In the words of Lord Cutler Beckett, it's just good business. Or, as Capcom's Seth Killian explained on the Capcom-Unity forums, releasing a downloadable version of Capcom vs. SNK 2 could be bad business. In a lengthy response to a call for the game on PSN, Killian gave several reasons for not re-releasing Capcom vs. SNK 2; all of them centered squarely on business. Among other things, the audience for the game is less sizable than that of Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, meaning a Capcom vs. SNK 2 port probably wouldn't be worth the money and resources Capcom would need to spend.
Killian noted that even if sales covered cost, placing developers on the project would mean removing them from others, like Super Street Fighter IV. Killian put it simply, saying, "When fan service becomes a black hole for time and money, that party gets ended pretty quick."
Another explanation, according to Killian, is that Capcom doesn't want to flood the market with fighting games. He suggested that most gamers only buy one or two fighting games a year -- thanks mainly to the amount of time it takes to master them. In other words, releasing too many games could dilute the sales of all of them. Besides, we all know that what Capcom should be working on is a new Darkstalkers.

Easy to the point of being praticaly "casual", cute and only with capcom propriets !
Now remeber the fact that puzzle fighter is already on xbox live arcade and the fightng version is too small ... and we can get this one on the wii to sell like hotcakes .. right ? =x

They act like it's hard to re release a game.... they could just port it like MVC2, not like they need to make new textures and stuff.. we'd rather see a release of a game that came out a long time ago like capcom vs snk 2 than a re-release of a street fighter game that JUST CAME OUT... come on capcom get your head in the game!!

MvC2 was ported by backbone entertainment, they're a port house they have nothing to do with SSF4. Poor and also stupidly incorrect statement.

CVS 2 is by far one of the best fighting games made in the last decade. It's pretty hard to find and so I think it would sell pretty well. It's a mistake to not release it IMO.

Sadly this is the verses game I am most familiar with and would love to see it. I spent a lot of time in the arcade with this one. I skipped on mvc2 holding out for this, hope we will see it next year maybe.

They can wait to release it after SSF4 I dont care I just hope they do. They dont have to remake anything just port the PS2/DC/GC?Xbox version for jesus sake's. Just release it, its not about flooding the market with fighters its letting the players keep playing it on new consoles without having to track down old joysticks and consoles.

Just how many fighting games did you buy this year? Seriously.

Me? I bought Blazblue, SF4, SSf4 when it releases, Kof12, MVC2, HDRemix but im not a tekken fan. Also bought 4 of the madcatz joysticks and every single one is modded. Yes i may be the niche market but its the same market that has kept these games alive here and at evo year after year.

That's a shame, CvS2 is still my favorite fighting game ever. My brother and I still put that disk in at least every few months.

I've still got the PS2 version (shame my PS3 won't run it). And, I'd definitely buy a new Darkstalkers and a DMC or Power Stone-style spin-off.

SNK has no problem rereleasing their old titles on XBL and PSN. Capcom is just making up excuses now. It took them so long to release HD Remix that anticipation for SF4 took away a good chunk of sales

That, and SSF2THDR turned out ugly as sin and the music was totally amateur. I hope Capcom never lets Backbone make a game again.

This game and Street Fighter 3. Me and two buddies still play this game regularly on the PS2. It would be awesome with online play. It doesn't have to be a HD remake. Maybe with a HD filter like MVC2 has.

Oh yea I agree, I would completely go and pee myself and buy them day one if they were Hd remakes. Imagine Street Fighter 3's gorgeous sprites in HD!

Awww... I guess we probably won't be seeing any Touhou(http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/touhou-project-%E6%9D%B1%E6%96%B9project) vs. Capcom, or Type-Moon( people behind Fate/ Unlimited Codes and Melty Blood) vs. Capcom.

Capcom has their nerve. When Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was released for the original Xbox, it was so hard to buy that a used copy eventually sold for $80 dollars at an F.Y.E store. Those of us who couldn't find it had to use the easier-to-find Capcom VS. SNK 2 EO.
And now they don't want to port it on XBLA? Then they Microsoft should get off their asses and get the Backwards Compatibility going again and add a patch that will run the original Xbox version.

It makes perfect sense from a business aspect, just like the article said. SF4 came out this year, HDremix last year, SSF4 next year... It'd be wayyy too much to have them bring out another fighting game. It would only make sense to release CvS2 (or even SF3 which I would much rather see) in a few years from now. Its not worth it to them as a company since they'd be flooding the market. Plus thats without considering competion from arcsys and namco.
It makes me sad but thats how businesses function.

Really? I don't know any fighting game owner that buys only 2 fighting games a year! But yea it shouldn't be too hard to port 3S. Just optimize the version that came with anniversary collection and throw in the same filters that mvc2 used. Done day

There's a lot of complaints from the tourney people about the PS2 version since it seems to be missing frames and so on. In this case I'd agree with them on the fact that it needs to be arcade perfect. Also I believe I've bought most of the fighting games released this year and 3 fightpads. Why do you hate getting money from your fans Capcom? Yes there would be costs involved in porting and so on, but it's not like building the entire game from the ground up like SF4.

It's not like fighting game fans ask for a lot. Especially after how well Capcom has been treating us the past decade. But... SF3:3S and CvS2 with some balance tweaks (looking at you Chun Li in SF3:3S) and maybe fix P-Groove in CvS2 to be like it is in EO and you'd see a lot of people buying these two.
But my true dream is for them to release those two and a completely rebalanced SFA3 with all the bonuses from all the previous releases (PSP, PS2, PSOne, etc.) in one version on XBLA/PSN. Maybe have World Tour mode as DLC, since not everybody is going to want to use World Tour mode enhanced characters online.
Have sirlin return to do the changes the major tourney people want to characters and add the HD filters. We don't need HDR, just the R. The games are already awesome, they just need some minor fine tuning. After all MvC2 being arcade perfect wasn't exactly the best thing for the people who want to use something beyond the same 6-7 characters everybody else uses.

still have my copy of CVS2 for PS2 and it works fine on my PS3. Same with my Street Fighter Anniversary Edition. Although I can't play them online, I can still actually play them.

CvS2 is garbage. It was pretty dead in tourney play even before SFIV came out.
Alpha is prob more popular with random gamers than SF3, but I really hope they tweak 3s in the future and re-release it.

"Capcom doesn't want to flood the market with fighting games."
Given how Capcom was the last two generations with PS1 & PS2 (and other systems), I find this statement kinda awkward.
Capcom Fighting Jam
Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000
Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Darkstalkers 3
Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower
Marvel vs. Capcom
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Rival Schools: United By Fate
Plasma Sword
Project Justice
Star Gladiator
Street Fighter III: Double Impact
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Street Fighter: The Movie
Street Fighter Alpha 1-3
Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX
Street Fighter EX + Alpha
Street Fighter EX2 Plus
Street Fighter EX3
Not to mention all of the "collection" games.
I know this isn't the full list, but I just wanted to get the point across. Maybe Seth forgot what primary genre Capcom's known for (apart from platformers and action games like Ghosts 'n Goblins and Devil May Cry).
