Modern Warfare 2 Avatar gear coming to Live tomorrow
Are your Avatars ill-equipped to raid a terrorist safe house? Well, good news: Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling (aka fourzerotwo) revealed Modern Warfare 2 gear will soon be available for players to purchase on Xbox Live's Avatar Marketplace.
Revealed in a recent Tweet, Bowling stated that Infinity Ward will upload the content to Xbox Live tomorrow -- which includes the Ghost outfit pictured above. In an email to Joystiq, Bowling confirmed the content will be made available for purchase tomorrow. Until then, we'll sleep soundly knowing that the Avatar world will soon be safe from terrorist scum.

pjsingh @ Nov 4th 2009 8:06PM
Good luck in life, mate.
NinjaJesus @ Nov 4th 2009 8:07PM
Looks like I need to buy some MS points *sigh*...
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Nov 4th 2009 8:14PM
Will you get out of here with your stupid comments? It's obvious you just wanted to be FIRST without saying it, and even if you weren't, your actual comment tells me you would have too much of a life anyway.
Keep it this up, and I'm gonna have to find you, and I'm gonna fuck you up.
Ulquiorra Cifer @ Nov 4th 2009 8:27PM
Man, you ladies downvote me for anything
but whatever take my hearts, see if I care
You holier than thou fanboys
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Nov 4th 2009 8:30PM
We don't downvote you because you are you. We downvote you because you make stupid comments that nobody cares about.
Shmil @ Nov 4th 2009 8:31PM
Sprinkles?
Ulquiorra Cifer @ Nov 4th 2009 8:32PM
what about sprinkles?
Shmil @ Nov 4th 2009 8:33PM
I see "holier than thou" i think Sprinkles. But I guess you're probably not sprinkles.
Ulquiorra Cifer @ Nov 4th 2009 8:35PM
who.....what?
iluvmyzune @ Nov 4th 2009 8:53PM
im buying 2nd
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 4th 2009 9:36PM
The profile says it all. If it's not Sprinkles then it's a doppelganger from another time wave.
Ulquiorra Cifer @ Nov 4th 2009 9:40PM
Can I atleast know who am I being accused of
Sly @ Nov 4th 2009 9:48PM
no, the profile really doesn't say it all. sprinkles would ALWAYS have names that consist of 3 words, all together, with the first letter of each capitalized. he also always had his profile set to private. it's another PS3 hater/MS lover for sure, but most definitely not sprinkles.
that, and he would have attacked cosmo/chinpoh/whatever the fuck he calls himself by now.
eNrique @ Nov 5th 2009 1:22AM
He's fooling you, is sprinkles, don't fall for the stupid "who what".
Dreaded Fear @ Nov 4th 2009 8:06PM
I thought they said they wanted to try and make this free? Either way, many people are going to buy it. It does look pretty cool, but I'm waiting for the ghillie suit.
Edog Lost @ Nov 4th 2009 8:06PM
PLEASE TAKE MORE OF MY MONEY!!
Phylogenetics @ Nov 4th 2009 8:12PM
I think avatar gear is geared towards making you spend the last 200 points from your 1000 point purchase you used to buy 800 point DLC.
finnith @ Nov 4th 2009 8:19PM
When you put it that way it's a brilliant scheme that will undoubtedly succeed.
At this point though I really couldn't care less for this stuff. I do like the concept of Avatar Awards though.
SharinganEdward @ Nov 4th 2009 8:42PM
Yeah I love avatar awards, after I earned that ODST armor with ease on Waypoint, I felt as if I personally went to everybody who bought the odst armor and slapped them in the face.
Prox @ Nov 5th 2009 9:17AM
Does Modern Warfare 2 have Avatar Awards?
K1LLER HORNET @ Nov 5th 2009 8:29PM
@ Prox
NO!
It's being published by Activision.
Didn't you hear?
Activision is the new EA : |
thedisagree @ Nov 4th 2009 8:07PM
that avatar looks like he took a shot to the leg
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 4th 2009 8:12PM
He made off pretty well, considering his owner was shot in the dignity.
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Nov 4th 2009 8:22PM
You of all people would know what getting shot in the dignity would be like, eh tmac?
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 4th 2009 8:32PM
It's impossible to hurt my dignity, because I don't make dumb decisions like buying avatar clothes.
Now you...I could go all day.
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Nov 4th 2009 8:36PM
Oh yeah. Being a multi-millionaire leaves me with absolutely no dignity at all. You sure do got me all figured out...
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Nov 4th 2009 8:45PM
He does. Money =/= dignity. In fact it's often quite the opposite.
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 4th 2009 9:39PM
On top of that your a douche living in his moms basement pretending to be ... an even bigger douche. How's that dignity thing working out for you?
... @ Nov 4th 2009 8:11PM
I still will not pay money for avatar clothing. Ever.
Chris @ Nov 4th 2009 10:00PM
Seriously, what a waste of money.
Seanross @ Nov 5th 2009 2:47AM
Themes, Backgrounds, Avatar clothes and accessories should all be FREE. people buying are just setting us up for the future of more bilking from devs/publishers.
Dreaded Fear @ Nov 4th 2009 8:11PM
"The avatar items, including the Ghost outfit, will be available for download tomorrow. I asked for some to be free but was denied."
From fourzerotwo's twitter
Thanks a lot Microsoft, you bastards.
Orchard Pear @ Nov 4th 2009 8:14PM
Aww, looks like Infinity Ward needs to take another inch of Microsoft's johnson down their gullet before free DLC can happen!
Dreaded Fear @ Nov 4th 2009 8:15PM
What? You do know that Microsoft does this to all developers right? Remember Left 4 Dead DLC?
Orchard Pear @ Nov 4th 2009 8:12PM
Yes, your weak, pencil thin, feminine posing avatar can dress up like a special operative!
WINterfang ( Now with the power to piss you off ) @ Nov 4th 2009 8:20PM
And look kickass while doing it.
damnreds @ Nov 5th 2009 10:02AM
if i bought that ghost outfit (which i wont) id make my avatar as short and fat as possible. id be like the bowling ball from that mystery men movie!
Cr4sh Dummy @ Nov 4th 2009 8:13PM
"Are your Avatars ill-equipped to raid a terrorist safe house?" Hell no!
3rd Echelon Gear FTW!
fred @ Nov 4th 2009 8:18PM
i will never EVER buy virtual clothing!!!!!!
WINterfang ( Now with the power to piss you off ) @ Nov 4th 2009 8:26PM
I'll give you 3 months max.
Traceur_Ryuk [Founder of The Anti-EMCB(tm) Brigade] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Nov 4th 2009 8:28PM
Yet, you'll buy armor for your horse that no one will ever see... for shame.
Zing @ Nov 5th 2009 4:56AM
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Because it's not gaming unless everything in your room is MW2 branded!
Choke A Smurf @ Nov 4th 2009 8:25PM
I'd be more than happy to wear this gear on my avatar. If its free.
AnkleSpankle @ Nov 4th 2009 8:26PM
Talk about a Cash Cow..Jesus christ Activision are milking this bad boy dry.
Special Agent Steve @ Nov 4th 2009 8:30PM
They should do something like Bungie did with Recon armor. Beat the game on Veteran perhaps? Get some nice Avatar gear.
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Nov 4th 2009 8:49PM
Keep dreaming. I always wished that was how the avatar items worked, as further incentive to go after achievements, something slightly more tangible than just a score. But no, Microsoft would rather make money off of something that could easily make the xbox simply more enjoyable.
Special Agent Steve @ Nov 4th 2009 8:57PM
Lol, never said it would happen, but I agree. I always wanted Achievement unlocked avatar pics and themes, as well as avatar clothing. Alas, Microsoft loves to see me empty my wallet.
K1LLER HORNET @ Nov 5th 2009 8:34PM
Avatar awards are coming.
ODST has them.
So does Splosion man - it even has gamerpics & a premium theme!
Just wait - hopefully devs will start adding them to all their future games.
Petebot330 @ Nov 4th 2009 8:32PM
Wait....what game is this for? And why haven't I heard anything about Call of Duty 5?
