Just in case GameStop's Left 4 Dead 2 commercial was a little too slow-paced for you, Valve has released a new TV spot that's nothing but action. Of course, that action is culled entirely from the CG trailer that was leaked last month, so you won't see anything new here. You will hear something new, however, as the commercial has been injected with a thumping blues-rock soundtrack, making the whole thing feel like a big, sprawling, undead bar fight.
Come to think of it, it sounds like Joystiq Publishing just found its next game. No one has the rights to Undead Bar Fight, right? While we go do a little research, watch the trailer above and, after the break, watch G4's walkthroughs of the Scavenge and Survival modes.
I was just about to come on here and note how important it is that Clutch is playing during this, and how much it makes me happy whenever the commercial comes on TV, but thankfully my fellow Clutch fans have already noted it.
TBH, I'm kinda hoping for a real zombie apocalypse, just so all the time I've spent playing zombie games and watching zombie movies weren't in vein. I'd be fun to see how long you last.
They're not working on L4D3. Gabe Newell said that they're researching a scalable AI system and that, if they do work on L4D3, it'll be around 3 years out. (Source: GameSpot interview)
I just played the Demo. It's awesome if you haven't played L4D1 before. If you have played L4D1 before then it's nice to see the improvements, but it doesn't have that OMG factor. I was going to buy it but now I think I'll get borderlands instead and buy L4D2 later.
I'm not sure how in depth it'll be, but I think there will either be a story or a meta story in it. *DEMO SPOILER* When i played the demo the is a spray paint that says "Who is Cuna?" or something like that. And there are body bags with "Cuna" written as a logo. So perhaps there will be references to the cause of the Infected or something? One can hope and speculate.
"Re: Your Brains" also by Jonathan Coulton plays on the jukebox as well. I actually was looking at the game files on the PC version and found the folder of jukebox music. It's all like 700kbps .wav files. I noticed that song was in there and immediately went into the demo to play it in game.

What the hell are they saying in the lyrics of the first one? "Bang bang bang, buy my nuts buy my nuts?"
Dux0r @ Nov 4th 2009 4:58PM
"bang, bang, bang, bang. Vamanos, Vamanos"
The song is Electric Worry by Clutch, and is a tune n a half. :D

Im going to buy this game, and buy Left 4 Dead 3 next year as well
CaramelZappa @ Nov 4th 2009 5:05PM
If they make an L4D3 next year instead of finally finishing Episode 3 my head is going to explode.

Still no zombie babies?

I disagree. Me and my entire crew so far have loved every new addition to the game. The additional gore is enough to make me scream "OMMFG!!!!!!"
Autopsy15 @ Nov 4th 2009 6:58PM
That's right, his /entire/ crew.
Gibbeynator @ Nov 4th 2009 7:04PM
I just hope the levels are longer in the full game. The Parish feels WAY shorter than Crash Course, and that was already pretty short...
Omega2k3 @ Nov 5th 2009 7:03AM
The demo wasn't the entire campaign.
Also, I hope I never play with the G4 chick. She shot a boomer that was standing RIGHT next to two teammates...
D @ Nov 4th 2009 4:57PM
So I'm assuming there will be story in this one. Not just one level cloned 4 times in different environments?
ChuckBartowski @ Nov 4th 2009 5:11PM
you don't need a story to kill zombies.

It's CEDA, and it's a fictional mash-up of FEMA and the CDC.
D @ Nov 4th 2009 7:24PM
Haha FEMA and their body bags for when the NWO takes over? Nice, that sounds like a storyline I can get behind.

Awww, G4 is so cute when they try to pretend they care about games.

Buying this day one because Valve has badass tastes in music.

I would be embarrassed to have publicized those videos.

Did anyone else hear "Still Alive" in the jukebox in the demo? I wonder what other treats are in store for us?
