Latest Shin Megami Tensei game taking a Strange Journey to North America

Atlus announced today that it will bring over the first-person DS RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey in Spring 2010 (of course). The game features the demon negotiation that SMT fans associate with the series, in a new storyline involving a mysterious black hole opening up at the South Pole.
It looks like the kind of thing that would appeal not only to fans of games like SMT 3: Nocturne, but also to people who enjoy the DS's dungeon RPGs like Etrian Odyssey, to which it bears a strong resemblance. Journey into our gallery for screens and art.

Yes, yes, Atlus. This all very nice and all, but where is Persona 5?
esposch @ Nov 5th 2009 8:23PM
Still in development innit?
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 5th 2009 8:27PM
Not even in development, afaik. And I'm glad, Persona's great and all but I just want SMT4. I get that Persona is what most people know in the SMT series, but I want a new core game.
Also this one doesn't really look that great, but in the tiny screenshots I saw I couldn't really tell what was going on, and I'm not a big fan of first-person dungeons.

Oh, I don't want to play it. I want a new Endurance Run.
Get a Persona 4-2 in here, and I'm gonna piss myself.
Jampirow @ Nov 6th 2009 4:31AM
Persona 5 hasn't been officially announced but various sources have listed it (Including Sony).

Peter Moore getting downvoted! what has the world come to?
Peter Moore @ Nov 6th 2009 10:07AM
I've been downvoted before. Quite often too.
CH3BURASHKA @ Nov 6th 2009 7:23PM
Why is everyone downvoting Peter here? He has a legitimate point! There's been approximately a million (or three) Persona games, two on the DS since P4. Also, I understand Japan is probably going to get it first, and even they haven't heard anything yet, pretty much guaranteeing there will be no P5 in the US in 2010, as I had hoped.

The character on the front of the box reminds me of Isaac Clarke from Dead Space.

Oh boy! I can't wait for the Cybermen vs Dalek boss battle!
killdash9 @ Nov 6th 2009 4:59AM
What boss battles? They would be called [The] Master battles.

Seriously?
Look. It's one thing to be spambot. It's quite another to be a spambot with such atrocious grammar.
Can't you at least *try* to take some pride in your shameless hawking of your wares?

Thanks atlus for allowing us to take this strange journey toward ultimate gaming.
S. Tiger @ Nov 5th 2009 10:27PM
Of course Atlus will publish their own game that THEY DEVELOP.
It's only natural.
AmitZ @ Nov 6th 2009 3:00AM
Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2 were and still are some of the best DS games ever made.
I have high hopes from this game.
Also, can't wait to 7th Dragon, looks fantastic.
Jampirow @ Nov 6th 2009 4:32AM
Why does the boxart have to be so ugly? .-.
Mr.ESC @ Nov 6th 2009 12:26PM
I'll keep an eye on this.
CH3BURASHKA @ Nov 6th 2009 7:29PM
Though the Persona series isn't known for it's plausible scenarios, I still find it kind of funny: a black hole at the South Pole? Not only does it rhyme, but it must be a weakling black hole, to not suck up our entire planet in a sec.
