Poor PC gamers. First they hear the soul-crushing news that
Modern Warfare 2 won't
support dedicated servers, and now Infinity Ward has broken their hearts yet again. During a Best Buy online chat, the developer fired off a string of bad news, affirming a 9-vs-9 player limit, the inability to kick players from ranked matches and a lack of console commands.
Ars Technica has laid out the full list of disappointments, if you've got the stomach for it.
We feel for those of you on the PC side, but largely because you haven't yet had your spirits broken like your console brethren. We don't even notice having our dreams shattered any more (in fact, truth be told, we think we're starting to like it).

I could get severely down-ranked for this, but PC gamers, why don't you guys just *not* buy the game? The best way to protest gaming decisions is with your wallets. I know that sounds crazy, not buying what's probably going to be the greatest FPS ever (well, what *could've* been the greatest FPS ever), but you will be sending an extremely strong message to Infinity Ward and Activision.
And, as much as I hate to say this, this newest round of bad news *is* IW's fault. If you read the Ars Technica article, the Q/A regarding 9v9 stated that the 18-player limit is that way because IW designed the maps precisely for 9v9 multiplayer.
Again, you guys are getting screwed. Just don't buy the game and IW and Activision will get the message LOUD AND CLEAR.

Alex, I know I'm not gonna vote you down.
What needs to be done is a strong showing of the PC gamers NOT liking this. Set up a boycot of all copies of the game (because buying the console version instead of the PC wont do shit). When they see no one is buying the PC copies, and the console sales dont match up with that, they should know something wasn't liked about it.

As much as I agree with you, it just won't happen. The game will sell. This they know. That's probably why they're making it worth $60 instead of the usual PC game of $50. They are screwing ppl over AND charging them an extra $10. It makes me sick that they are taking advantage of the PC consumers like this. But at this point there is really almost nothing we can do. Sorry.

That's exactly what I plan to do. I own 2 copies of Modern Warfare, 1 for the PC, and 1 for the 360. I'm sure you can guess how many copies I'll buy of MW2. Honestly, I'll probably pirate it on the PC for the single player, seeing how multiplayer is worthless compared to the original. I'm sure I'll get downranked because ZOMG PIRACY, but I'm not going to feel bad about it at all. Screw paying 10 more dollars for a game that is significantly less than their previous offer

Eh..sadly I agree with Stacky on this, We don't buy it for the PC it tells Activision and them that the PC isn't a viable market, thus no more PC releases...
But if we buy it we send the message we'll compromise on what we want...in the end, we PC folk lose...
I also feel a lot of this is done in the sense of wanting to sell DLC....ie, lack of map editors dedicated servers and custom modes opens the ability for Activision to sell us at $5 a pop, those features at a later date..
But I feel that things will improve, Don't worry, Someone else will just come out with something as good or better and make it a PC exclusive ;)

I'm as upset about what IW's been doing as much as the next PC gamer, but I really doubt boycotting the game will do anything. Unlike consoles, if a game doesn't sell well developers can always use its biggest scapegoat: piracy.
And at this point, can you really blame PC gamers if they do pirate it? I don't understand IW's logic here:
- They are charging MORE than the usual retail PC game, when most people pirate BECAUSE they do not want to spend money.
- Then they wipe out reasons why a PC gamer would WANT to buy a retail copy, such as special collector's editions and for the multiplayer and community.
Nice job Infinity Ward. Next to Microsoft you guys really know how to screw the people who supported you.

I'm gettin Battlefield Bad Company 2... Dice started on the right foot by saying everything up front, dedicates servers, huge maps with lots o players, and great gaming experience... for us college students who had to buy a laptop and not a console... BFBC2 (too long...twss) looks like its gonna be great. AND we get a beta to test it out in December. So your suggstion makes sense BUT(T) I will watch/coop with my roommates that did have the money to get consoles *shakes fist at fate*.
