Yep me too. Just got the email, sent in tip to Joystiq and already scooped. Mine will be in my grubby little hands tomorrow. Maybe this weekend I'll stream the same movie simultaneously to my 360 and PS3, you know, because I can.

I just caved and signed up, so I likely won't be getting my big clean hands on it for a while.

I already have on 360 as well. I'd definitely take advantage of streaming Netflix on my PS3 too, but the disc thing makes just say "meh" when I can do it w/out a disc on the 360 that's sitting literally 1ft away from the PS3. :P

Indeed. If it's free, might as well have it even if you don't plan on using it :P

And besides, you can now actually compare the two services and have the legitimacy to say which is better (my bet is that the 360 will remain the best of the two services, at least 'till the end of 2010 - I think that's the date - when the PS3 will no longer need this netflix disc).

I'll be switching to Watch Now movies/shows on the PS3 so that my poor 5th 360 will be able to run less often, and maybe that will expand its life cycle.

I'll try it on the PS3 too even though I already use it on the 360 - why not? More choices. Sometimes for no good reason I feel like using one console over another and this will give me more reason to get moody and treat one with more love than the other for a while

Same here. I don't see myself getting up and putting in the blu-ray netflix when I don't have to put a disc in with the 360, but why not have the option?

Playon works with Netflix through remote play just as a backup. It is nice to be able to get the Netflix anywhere I have a wifi hotspot and my psp.

It has nothing to do with power. I believe this has more to do with Netflix's already in-place deal with Microsoft.

Dammit. I've been a Netflix subscriber for years and I never even got a notification that you needed to sign up for this. Way to go, Netflix. At least they figured out a way to get the service on the PS3, too bad they didn't tell people.

OK, let me tell you where the breakdown is.

When I went in to Netflix right now to see how I missed it, there's no notification on the "Member Home" page, your queue page, or the "browse movies" page.

If you are logged in on your computer, when you go to Netflix you go straight to your "Home" page. So why isn't there a notification in any of those places?

Sorry, for as much as I go to Netflix, for me not to see it is a breakdown in promotion.

Yeah I had found out about the disc online but never got an email or anything sent to my address. I finally found it on their site by going to Watch Instantly -> Instantly On Your TV -> Instant Devices. Then I finally found the link for the PS3 disc. This is what a regular netflix user would have to stumble through to find that they now have it on PS3. Where as a quick email would probably get more traffic.

really??

I saw it on the Netflix.com main page last week....sure they didn't send out emails, but there is a reason for that.....it doesn't affect EVERYONE...so why send an mass email? sure they could have sent it to people that have Blu-ray rentals....but not ALL of those people have PS3's either....I think they went the route they did to make sure they didn't have disc shortages. and after they get those out they will send out an email to people in their quarterly newsletter....no biggie tho

It actually makes me wonder if they didn't make it hard to find in order to avoid having to send out too many copies.

...cause sending out a mass email to all users saying " Hey everyone, look at this new feature!" would have broken them financially right?

The downside is now I have to show him how to work the PS3, lol

Not that hard. I bet that it will be even simpler than in the 360. In the 360 you have to go through a menu (already TOO simple) but with this disc I bet that all you'll have to do is insert it and Netflix will automatically start.

Is this going to be a Bluray 'game' or 'movie'? I ask this because I want to know if it's going to tell everyone I'm "Playing Netflix" or if it will be like a movie and tell my friends nothing at all.
