This is the story of New Super Mario Bros. Wii

We know many Joystiq readers don't want to read spoilers on the site. That's why, for your sake, we've carefully posted the intro movie to New Super Mario Bros. Wii after the break. The upcoming 2D platformer returns the series to its roots, but adds a number of features that make it "new" -- it says so on the box. New power-ups and the addition of multiplayer radically change the feel of NSMBW, but we're not sure if gamers are prepared for the revolutionary new story featured in this latest adventure.

The trailer for NSMBW SFW?

I don't know about you guys, but watching that video just made me smile.

Nostalgia.

I want this game.

mario let her go. go with rosalina. she is hotter and doesn't get kidnapped. sure she has hundreds of kid lumas but you can have luigi baby sit them.

That said, Team Fortress 2 has cartoony graphics, and does that make it any less fun? Absolutely not.

(And the Metroid Prime games are on par with current gen games in terms of graphics.)

Yeah, Metroid is pretty modern looking. Don't see where that came from.

Stop bashing Ninty on the things they do well. Games don't need online or DLC to be awesome.

Seeing "NSMBW" made me think that the title is closely similar to "NSFW"...

If this is one of the reasons we are not getting star fox on wii..... heads will roll

Compelling story!!!
Although I did like the music, the video could have used more Luigi in a speedo.

this game alone is the only one that has me wanting a Wii, after 3 years of its whole life cycle.

Galaxy was worth it as well, IMO.

yeah well maybe it was indeed worthy, but I didn't catch my attention. this one does, maybe is all nostalgia for old times, when i was 5 and played Super Mario World.

It's practically self-parody on their part.

That's all I need. Water Mario being Baby Bowser in Sunshine was too much for me, so I'm happier they're keeping it simple again. It's all I can manage.

The interesting part for me was both the presence of the Koopa Kids AND Bowser Jr.

I sense a paradox...

Wow! I didn't even watch the video and the spoiler was right there! It saes "the princess gets kidnapped" seriously you don't put something that you never could or would have guessed happening in the title!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl had online multiplayer.

Spoiler needs an obnoxious marquee.

For a Mario plot, I thought the Koopa strippers in the cake gag was actually a very creative twist. The air ship theme is curiously missing, though...

The Wii is the only platform I don't own right now, but I have to say that after seeing that trailer I really want to play this game......as long as it doesn't involve me jumping around the living room like an idiot. I want a directional pad, and 2, maybe 3 buttons that I have to worry about. That's about all I need.
