Bayonetta launch continues Platinum's winning streak

This is Platinum Games's second launch in Japan, and it's the second to debut at the top of the charts. Infinite Space on DS took the winning position back in June, with a comparatively modest 38,394 copies. MadWorld, Platinum's other game, has yet to be released in Japan.
The number two and three spots on Media Create's chart are also occupied by new games: Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, the new Final Fantasy for DS made by Matrix Software, and Tekken 6.

Infinite Space is already out in Japan? Does anyone know if it is any good?
Nicely done on Bayonetta everything seems to suggest it's much better than the disappointing Madworld. Can't wait for it be released.

Do you think the sales figures are affected because the character is a sexy woman that gets naked with some attacks?
I know the Japanese guys are hard up judging by all the masturbatory aides that come out of that country. You know what they say, sex sells.
Note: I am not bashing the game in any way it looks really solid and fun. Looking forward to playing it.

What surprised me was that PS3 sold more copys, even though famitsu gave the 360 version a better score. Don't those crazy Japanese follow that like a religion or something?

What? there are 1 million people with 360's in Japan. The PS3 has sold much more consoles there. Would you buy a console you don't have for a SLIGHTLY better version of the same game. Think about it, did people buy PS3s for the Joker DLC when they only had an Xbox?

PS3 has a way larger install base in japan, 3.4 million PS3's vs about 1 million Xbox 360s. Proportionally, the 360 verison did better than the PS3 version, but you cant deny that the Japanese generally just dont like Xbox. American sales will probably be the other way around.

The fact that Bayonetta sold so well is probably more of an indication of what Japanese gamers want to play rather than how good Bayonetta is as a game.
I'm not an expert on Japanese culture or anything, but I do recognize that the pervy way Bayonetta is being marketed is certainly a trend over there.

Maybe you should take the Platinum's Game name out of the title and put in Sega since Platinum didn't want to be associated with the Top Selling PS3 version.

i've been studying japanese and the japanese culture, and the reason the ps3 sold more copies than 360 is because that they prefer quality over quantity
