Gyromancer will end our lives on November 18
Looks like we're going to have to start working on that Bucket List a lot sooner than we would've guessed. The recently released English language trailer for Square Enix and PopCap's RPG-puzzle mash-up Gyromancer has delivered a release date for our pending doom: November 18. Not only that, but the trailer's now-readable text has revealed a gameplay mechanic which slipped our attention in the original, Japanese trailer: Monster collection.
So, it's Bejeweled, Final Fantasy and Pokémon all rolled into one, then? Awesome. That's really awesome. We hope you guys have enjoyed reading our humble site, because Gyromancer looks to be addictive enough make us forget to feed ourselves, let alone work.

Well how unfortunate for you that you don't play Xbox.

"Gyromancer" invokes a completely different image to mind.

Man they borrowed very heavily from Puzzle Quest.

"Man they borrowed very heavily from Puzzle Quest."
Which borrowed heavily from Bejeweled and FF. Basically the kings of the two genres that were mashed up in Puzzle Quest decided to get together and say, "Let us show you how to do this son!"

They didn't just borrow. This game basically looks like Puzzle Quest that's prettier and flashier. Puzzle Quest did borrow from Bejeweled and pretty much any RPG, but it was the first game to do so. Gyromancer doesn't seem like it does much innovation...just makes it prettier. That said, I have a feeling I'll buy it. I loved Puzzle Quest.

What the interesting?

That's a team up I didn't see coming. 0_o

Square Enix desperately needs more ideas

As fun as that looks, it definitely appears to be a rip-off of Puzzle Quest. I always knew Squeenix were keen on rehashing their own franchises, but they haven't been rip-off artists since their pre-Final Fantasy days.
I dunno, maybe I'm being too harsh on it. I can see quite a few things that would "vary" the formula from PQ. What really struck me as a rip-off though were the text scenes. I mean, wow. That's *exactly* how PQ did it.

You guys DO know that the Popcap guys are behind this too, right?
context @ Nov 6th 2009 9:12PM
I'm going to sue popcap and square for selling online crack.
Lurkero @ Nov 6th 2009 9:22PM
I would be a lot more interested if it wasn't based off of Bejeweled Twist. That game is not fun to me.
Now a Plants vs Zombies type game in the form of knights and creatures...I think that would be interesting.
JeezWhiz87 @ Nov 7th 2009 2:38PM
Oh you mean Crystal Defenders?
Lurkero @ Nov 7th 2009 5:38PM
Yeah, but more detailed.
Crystal Defenders Vanguard Storm is okay, but a more detailed game on consoles or DS/PSP would be better in my opinion
Lurkero @ Nov 7th 2009 5:43PM
not to say I don't acknowledge Crystal Defenders as a good game. It's mostly because of the limitations of the iPhone. I think Crystal Defenders Vanguard Storm would be much better if the devs just put more into the game.

Truly, I sense Satan's hand in this.
And I LIKE IT.
