Thanks for the info, zodduska. Guess that means I won't be subscribing to Netflix for now.

They are wrong completely you can add and remove movies and TV shows from within the application disc. You can see in the video itself when he is in the information screen the add/remove option, are they blind? Though If you want to add movies or TV shows not available from the application you can go to the Netflix site.

Is that a Freedom Fighters skateboard, or something like that? If so, that's awesome swag, Andrew.

been watching Mythbusters for a while now and I'm very impressed. The quality is very good on my standard def TV, right up there with DVD's.

I have no lag issues. It takes about 5seconds for my Queue on my PS3 to seamlessly sync with what i do with my laptop

It took about 20 seconds to activate my disk as well. I was shocked how fast it all took. I've had no buffer issues or lag over my wi-fi connection either. I am very very satisfied

Say . . . whose Big Buck Hunter Pro plug-n-play light gun game is that next to the TV? If someone could review that, I'd appreciate it. I've been wondering how good that is. The developer, Super Happy Fun Fun, is the same firm that created the mobile (camera-based) and iPhone (touch-based) versions of the arcade game.

Fantastic! I've been using PlayOn for Netflix for a while now, but this is way better even though you have to use a disc. Both HD and SD stream well over wifi. The main advantages over PlayOn are: 1) don't have to use your computer to stream to the PS3, 2) getting HD content, 3) being able to fast-forward and resume, which don't work well on PlayOn yet. I'll still be using it for Hulu and other things, though.

Well PS 3 still is missing a few things over the Xbox, one being Community. Can I chat with friends as I watch Netflix? I know I can't watch movies or shows as a party with 3 other people.

Those 2 are key things here when your on a gaming system. I really dislike that I have to be on my dash board or in Hometo talk to my friends instead of having hte freedom to talk to them whenever like on Xbox. And say what you want Netflix party watching is awesome.

To me this disc for the PS 3 is a bit cumber-son since most blu-ray players have the same interface with out a added disc. If anything PS 3 did this to say in the marketing as a blu-ray player with netflix capabilities. Not to go against Xbox.

Obviously Xbox is doing fine with out the help of Netflix its just a added bonus. Will the software update next year add party chat and party watching? maybe even a added feature for it in Home? maybe but not likely it seems Sony has ruled out community and party chatting, instead they want you to play the game as it was meant to be played with out friend distraction or interaction.

To that degree that is a nail in PS 3's coffin.

The PS3 most likely had to do it this way due to the exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Saying that this is a nail in the PS3 is pretty retarded.

lol nail in the ps3 coffin? the ps3 just had its best month ever, and outsold both the wii and 360 and i'll be willing to bet you anything you want that those numbers will hold steady. the 360 is redundant already, developers no longer like it, and it faces extreme limitations compared to the ps3, sony was right, they're going to win this battle in the long run from here on out.

Are you crazy? The PS3 has pretty much taken over my entertainment center.

there has already been rumors that the next update will have a "party chat" of sorts. or at least cross game chatting which is a step. i do think that they should implement a place in your OWN theater in home. so you can throw movie parties. i think that would be dope.

"the activation process is slow and requires the use of a computer -- there is no way to activate Netflix directly from the PS3."

Andrew, the activation method is the same method no matter what streaming device(other than a computer) you watch Netflix on.

you people do know why it loads thumbnails slow, and works slowly, and doesn't allow queuing, right.. its loading off the disc so it can't save anything anyways. when the actual app comes along, it'll be better.

joystiq may want to get their internet connection in order, the ps3 buffer goes incredibly faster than either my 360 or my roku, this isn't the ps3 slowing you down here, its your internet connection...

Awesome. I just got my Netflix PS3 disc too. However, I already have Vista media center that have netflix built-in (more functional + no need to put a disc in). Anyways, MS needs to put netflix for free on the 360 too.

You can add to your instant queue right from the software. There's an option to "add to queue". The only thing you can't do as of yet is search for titles. That part you have to either go the PS browser or your comptuer's. Don't care for that, but hopefully that will be addressed. Works great otherwise so far!

netflix finally on ps3, well its a off to a great start. Yeah it doesnt have all the same features as the 360 and a disc is needed but there's no extra cost (just netflix no need for xl gold) and streaming works both SD and HD. Great start and as for the community feature its better to have friends in the same room.

I'm wondering if these people who did this hands-on even knew how to work their Netfilx disc. I could manage my queue just fine for instant streaming. And you have all types of top 100 in several catagories to choose to add to it from. I personally think it's perfect. I wouldn't want many more options (maybe a search feature, but that's it), because it would be too cumbersome and unnecessary. This disc is for the instant streaming movies only, and if they are talking about managing their queue for all of their rentable discs, well that is just ridiculous. I personally like keeping the two separated and that would just be annoying to have to scroll through all of the disc based movies to find the streaming movies. Use your PS3 for your streaming account and your computer for your disc-based account. Or your PS3 browser, if you just have to have it all on one system. The people who wrote this must be Xbox fanboys, because this is just nit-picking. This Netflix disc is the best new feature for the PS3 to come along lately and it works flawlessly. I had a 360 when Netflix was 1st intoduced to it and this is 100x better than that was. I know that it has been updated since then and is much better now, but at that time all I could access was what I added to my streaming queue from my computer. So, for people on the fence about this, it's awesome, and it works fine. Picture quality is good. No issues whatsoever. You could get rid of cable because of this disc if you really wanted to. It's that good in my opinion.

There is a lot of PS3 love here...and for good reason. Though I have to add that while I do love my PS3, there is one major flaw I find in it. That it does not uprez 720p games to 1080p. And before any of you say...but your tv will do that! Not all uprezzing is created equal. Some tvs do it very well, some suck at it. Its always better to have the source match the tv output. I just don't understand why the PS3 isn't already capable of this.

Why does Joystiq still have this erroneous video up? "it is bizarre that you have to quit out of the disc in order to add things to your queue" at 8:30 - You actually do not need to leave the application to add movies and TV shows to your queue. I don't where Andrew got this notion.
