It was bad enough when Valve enabled pre-loading of the Left 4 Dead 2 demo, forcing potential zombicidal maniacs to stare at the game they have and yet don't for an entire madness-inspiring weekend. Now, the developer has begun allowing pre-loading of the full version of Left 4 Dead 2 through Steam. If you've pre-purchased the game through Valve's digital distribution platform (which still nets you a 10 percent discount off the price of the title), you can now put it on your computer, and just ... let it sit there until it finally unlocks on November 17.
In the immortal words of Tom Petty, the waiting truly is the hardest part. Except for the zombie apocalypse. We suppose that part is pretty difficult as well.

it has since finished.
but based on the demo it really doesn't seem that much different from the first, not even graphically.

It's not terribly different, but neither is MW2 from MW, Halo ODST from Halo, blah blah blah. It's a sequel, it's not supposed to be radically different.

There is a pretty big difference, but maybe only in the little details. The damage done to common infected is largely improved and the weapon detail is incredibly improved.
Overall, I can't really compare a demo that is all daylight verses an entire game that took place at night. Needless to say, they've stretched the Source engine to it's near limits.

Weapon detail didn't change, they just added more weapons (which should have been done in the first one).

Honestly I was surprised by how much had improved. A lot of it was minor things, like the HDR that looked really nice and the dismemberment. Some of it was pretty big though, I really like the new infected, melee weapons are awesome and (at least the demo level) was well done.

Ready to get my frying pan on. I've been critical of this game before, but looking back I've had some really funny moments.

This is a pretty good idea as it cuts down on the server overload on launch day.

their has to be a way one could hack it to play single player.

Why would you ever want to play l4d alone?
Yea, someone could possibly decrypt it, but the game will be released before they're done.

In the meantime, you can check out the Dead Before Dawn mod beta. It has a couple of small flaws, but other than those, it's pretty darn awesome.
Infact, there are several totally awesome mods and campaigns for L4D...

Bah! This won't be a thing like waiting for The Orange Box to unlock. Counting down the seconds to "Late Tuesday" and bouncing around, staring at all the empty TF2 servers...

And the aussies get two countdowns (double the undead fun?). The wait for left 4 dead 2, and the countdown to their untimely demise due to insufficient desensitisation.

PreLoading? The content is on your computer and you cant play it? surely there is a way around that...

Don't bother, play Borderlands instead. I didn't even enjoy the l4d2 demo, cus all I could think about was Borderlands.
