We all know that home console Zelda games take longer to develop than most small, fledgling nations -- still, we'd secretly hoped that Nintendo would pull a hat trick next year, releasing new Wii installments in the Metroid, Mario and the aforementioned Triforce-centric series. Sadly, a recent quote from Reggie Fils-Aime has made us doubtful that this scenario will be realized -- speaking on GameTrailers TV, Fils-Aime explained that Nintendo hasn't "committed to Zelda for 2010."
So, feel free to keep that hope in your heart that you'll be Ganon-thwarting once more within the next 365 days -- but don't get too upset if it doesn't happen. Much like a college-aged Lothario, Nintendo's remaining non-committal. You might say the company's as free as a bird, darling -- and this bird, you cannot change.

They need to put out a Zelda game on the Wii since they haven't done so yet this generation. Yes, I know they released twilight Princess but that was a Gamecube developed game that was ported to the Wii. I'm talking about a Zelda built from the ground up for the Wii.

Nothing wrong with the Wii per se it just is what it is ... Mr. Khan is going to like whatever Nintendo makes because thats his preferences. There's nothing wrong with that and you shouldn't antagonize him about it either.

I hardly respond to anything you say. Big difference between someone as obnoxious as you are and Mr. Khan. In fact, anytime I mention the wii being my kids console you always rail on me. You have no room to talk anyway with the way you antagonize 360 owners and stereotype them as frat boys in a derogatory way.

They've said it themselves, "The Wii has stalled." This, in my opinion, is the only game out of the mentioned trifecta that is a guaranteed system seller. Galaxy 2, while it will most likely be critically acclaimed, is building off of a somewhat used up mechanic. I'm sure Metroid Other M will be phenominal as well, but it just cannot cater to the casual and hardcore markets nearly as much as a new and legitimate Zelda Adventure can. Nintendo needs to do everything they can to release this game next year if they want to save the Wii from itself.

Are you sure? As iconic as the Zelda franchise may be, I wouldn't neccessarily call it "casual", especially not more casual or brand-centric to nintendo as a Mario game (like Galaxy).
Also, I highly doubt a new Zelda title would move systems, seeing as how most people who are waiting for a true, "next-gen" Zelda probably already have a Wii.

Well I'm kind of basing what i'm saying off of my experience when Twilight Princess came out. Yes, you're probably right about it not being so much a system seller, but a new Zelda game will be the game that makes people start to use the Wii again. While Galaxy was still a great experience, it didn't keep people attached to their Wii, many seeing it as a great at the time but ultimately somewhat forgettable experience (keep in mind I am basing this off of the Wii owners I know personally, I'm not very educated on how others see it). Twilight Princess on the other hand is the favorite game of all my friends who own a Wii, even if it was technically a gamecube game. I know for a fact that once this new Zelda comes out, their Wiis will turn back on.

what would move systems is a fully fledged final fantasy or an uncharted 3 wii

You really think the heart monitor will move more Wii boxes? I could see the NSMB Wii but not that hear thingy.

I think there is a fundamental difference between Wii Fit and this heart monitor. I think when people were buying Wii Fit they were buying a platform more so than a add-on. I'm not really seeing this as a platform as much as I see it as a companion to the other devices. Thats just the way I see it. I'm sure it'll sell well enough in it of itself but I'm skeptical that it's going to move Wii units in bulk. None of the ideas we've heard from Nintendo (as good as some of them are) indicate this "thing" being a standalone platform.
What say you guys?

100% agree with you.
@embassy - I don't know man (assumption on my part), my mom is the one who brought home the first Zelda.....after the family was done with the more 'casual' games of the time, such as World Class Track Meet.
Lost Garden had an article posted on lifecycles in game, this would be a progression IMO, now the casuals need top be roped in, just like my mom, in 1987, when she bought Zelda while seeking a new experience in video games.
Of course, we grew up with games, Atari 2600, 5200, NES...ect.

I don't think Galaxy 2 is a 'used up' mechanic. First let's see if they add some new things before judging.
Agree it might not be a system seller (who would buy Wii for Galaxy 2 if they didn't buy one for Galaxy - hasn't even been much of a price cut since), and it also might not sell as well as the first (if you didn't finish the first why get the expansion pack... and I'm willing to bet a LOT of people didn't finish the first). But regardless of sales it still has the potential to be a really great game. (And the expectation, from me at least; even if it's just more of the same.)
Certainly for me it's about a thousand times more interesting than NSMBW (which I'm not sure whether I'll even bother to buy).
As for Zelda I agree it will be a big game and has a wide audience but I'm not sure it will sell that many systems, because that audience does tend toward the hardcore end of the Nintendo-fan spectrum who probably bought a Wii already.
Personally, I'm a big Zelda fan, and initially I bought the Wii for Twilight Princess. (Sure I knew it was a GC port... but I knew the Wii version would be better, if only slightly, which it was. So rather than buying a last title for a dead system, I wanted to make TP my first title for a new one...) So, obviously, I'm not in the market for another Wii when the next Zelda comes out. And while there are the hardcore lefties/anti-waggle freaks among the Zelda fanbase who swore vengeance on all things Wii, I'm pretty sure that by this time most of those will have picked up the system anyhow.
Actually though I'm not sure anything will make a massive difference at this point. First, it doesn't really need to, except in Japan (where Zelda, um... is not the answer). Worldwide Wii is still massively outselling either competitor, and almost outselling both. Second, at this point it seems unlikely there will be really huge boosts to system sales from individual games. Instead they (Nintendo + third parties) need to have a constant stream of Wii software releases in a 'little but often' kind of manner to gradually maintain/build interest and slightly reduce the level of fan complaints. Oh, yeah, and another price cut.

No, they ported a Gamecube game to the Wii. There's never been a proper Wii Zelda title.

A better analogy: There hasn't been a modern Splinter Cell game because Double Agent was just a port of the sixth generation versions.

"Saying that Twilight Princess isn´t a Wii game because it was developed for the GameCube is like saying Bayonetta isn´t a PS3 game because it was developed for the 360"
That is awful logic. A game that was designed on a last gen system, then ported over at the last second is the same as having a game on 2 current gen systems?
