Borderlands DLC available November 24 on PS3, Xbox 360

) and release date for the first Borderlands DLC pack on PS3 and Xbox 360. The publisher tells Joystiq that the DLC's availability for the PC version is yet to be determined -- in other words, it's probably not coming out on November 24. Though, that's unconfirmed and subject to pending details.2K promises "ferocious brain-eating zombies, carnivorous Were-Skags and more" on the spooky island, but, perhaps more relevant to weapon-obsessed Borderlands players, there's more "sweet, sweet loot" to find.

Sure, why don't you wait a week for the PC version, claiming you're using that time to polish, then deliver a WORSE experience than the console version?
Not that I'm bitter about a horrible online implementation or anything. ;)
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Nov 9th 2009 4:46PM
Whatever Dale. I've been playing it on LAN with my friends a lot since it came out, never had any trouble. Though now that you mention it I have yet to try the public online multiplayer.....
Dale @ Nov 9th 2009 4:52PM
I'm glad for you.
Sadly, if you wish to play online, you have to faff around setting up GameSpy accounts, configuring port forwarding and using a clunky interface to invite friends to play with you.
I bought the game on Steam, and compared to Valve's own online implementation, it was a lot of hassle. Especially as the ports you have to set up are squirreled away in a read me file.
joeybeast @ Nov 9th 2009 4:59PM
I didn't even know gamespy is still around until just now.
Xtremejumpy @ Nov 9th 2009 5:12PM
So wait, the PC version bought from steam IS a hassle to set up and play with friends online?
Wes @ Nov 9th 2009 5:13PM
Yes ExtremeJumper but not just the steam-version. Any version is a bit of a pain to setup as each version is using GameSpy for its multiplayer system as opposed to say 'Steam' for multiplayer matchmaking.
GameSpy was ok in the 90s, but, technology has moved onwards in the nine years since we left the 90s and GameSpy has developed little if anything. Its a pain to find friends online via GameSpy, start a game, setup port forwarding in your firewall/etc, servers go down a lot and crash often. Overall, it leaves a lackluster online experience.
Hyams @ Nov 9th 2009 5:15PM
PS3 version's online play is broken. Voice chat doesn't work (voices cut off after a couple of seconds), and there's major lag (so there's a delay between button presses and actions, and enemies teleport all over the place).
I know it's not the internet connections, because I can play other games flawlessly with the same people.
Single player is awesome though. =)
Urza @ Nov 9th 2009 5:15PM
I'm shocked to hear you can't just enter your friend's IP address into Borderlands and connect to it..
Old Professor Zertoss @ Nov 9th 2009 5:21PM
Owners of the PC version should check out this thread on Gearbox's forums for some tweaks that make the game much better, though still pretty flawed.

Dale @ Nov 9th 2009 5:24PM
Don't get me wrong, I *love* Borderlands. Had Dragon Age: Origins not come out, it would possibly be my favourite 2009 release. Definitely follow the link Old Professor Zertoss posted - with some tweaking and setup, it's a fine game. Just the online component is flawed.
8-bit.artist @ Nov 9th 2009 5:35PM
@hyams
i cant even get the fuck online. it signed me out of psn every time but once (and luckily i got the two friends trophy).
on the gearbox forums, there are guys insisting its YOUR connection and not the problem of the game or how it was developed. i find that very hard since this is the ONLY game that gives me any problems online at all.
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Nov 9th 2009 5:41PM
Hm, you're right, it could be way more streamlined. With these problems, and so many games removing LAN play and/or dedicated clients, and removing matchmaking, why does it seem like online multiplayer as a whole is getting worse as time goes by?
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Nov 9th 2009 5:44PM
@8bit & hyams
Is it possible that maybe PSN is the problem here? Just asking...
8-bit.artist @ Nov 9th 2009 5:56PM
@leo
when you pop in Blands and it signs you out of psn, then pop in uncharted 2 and play a game online flawlessly, then pop in Blands and it signs you out of psn...
well, id have to say no. i get signed out when i dont even try to connect online.
LegendaryRedass @ Nov 9th 2009 6:15PM
So do you have to use gamespy? If so, that would be ironic since IGN owns gamespy and they (IGN's direct2drive) refuse to sell MW2 because you have to install steam.
eldee @ Nov 9th 2009 6:40PM
i don't know what you're complaining about, I bought it, and several of my friends did (all for PC), and we haven't had a single problem. I'm on my second playthrough too...
TrojanGuy @ Nov 9th 2009 6:51PM
All of this makes me VERY happy I'm playing it on 360. Online multiplayer couldn't be easier.
KenpachiZaraki @ Nov 9th 2009 7:31PM
I got it on my pc and havent had a problem with the online yet. Got this game over dragon age. Hopefully the DLC is coming to pc too.
Hyams @ Nov 9th 2009 7:56PM
Leobebes:
Have had no problems with any of the other shooters I've played online (which are: Warhawk, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Online, Resistance, and Resistance 2).
Biggie @ Nov 10th 2009 2:14AM
If you want a console experience go buy CODMW2.
Urza @ Nov 9th 2009 4:44PM
Awesome.
Orchard Pear @ Nov 9th 2009 4:48PM
LOL PC
Monica Dickey @ Nov 9th 2009 4:59PM
Yeah I feel sorry for the PC. This game seems like a natural game for PC. Diablo + FPS... two huge PC gaming deals. Too bad they are giving that whole market the short end of the stick on this game, I think if they handle things better Borderlands can have a lot of PC longevity, but maybe it's already too late for that. Bad matchmaking will kill any game that is only fun online.
Professor Lario @ Nov 9th 2009 5:52PM
@Monica - is there a reason your profile links to a scam site? If I didn't know better I would think your a forty year old man drumming up bizz for the scam.
RKN @ Nov 9th 2009 6:07PM
Its LOL AT PC asshole. Get your insults right.
RKN @ Nov 9th 2009 6:57PM
I don't get it, you made a comment late last month saying you were jealous that you wanted to build a PC gaming rig and yet you keep hating on the PC? Is there some complex I am missing here?
NevilleThegzme @ Nov 9th 2009 4:49PM
lol, why do ppl fall for this DLC rip offs?
Orchard Pear @ Nov 9th 2009 5:16PM
lol, because some people have the money to buy DLC, lol
lol, because something that you don't find worth it, other people might, lol
lol, because.. why not? lol
RKN @ Nov 9th 2009 6:20PM
Are you 15 or younger Orchard Pear? PC ever did anything bad to you?
RKN @ Nov 9th 2009 6:42PM
You say "lol" a bit too much there buddy.
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Nov 9th 2009 4:50PM
The trophies are already listed on the PS3 version. I noticed earlier when I was in the process of killing One Eyed Jack...
I'll be picking up the DLC the second it is available.
ChomskyKnows @ Nov 9th 2009 4:56PM
will buy
Cj @ Nov 9th 2009 4:52PM
I need this. Seriously. Borderlands made me an addict to the game. Im lv 50 now, gonna take a break until this is out.
Nytemare457 @ Nov 9th 2009 5:29PM
I'm right there with you. I have two level 40+ characters, one for single player and one for co-op with my buddy.
This game...does things to people...
NevilleThegame @ Nov 9th 2009 4:53PM

Harsh, BunnySlapper! (But spot-on.)
tylur_durden @ Nov 9th 2009 4:54PM
W/e the game is trite.
BunnySlapper @ Nov 9th 2009 4:56PM
You really couldn't be bothered to type out the entire word: "Whatever"?
Lazy piece of shit.
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Nov 9th 2009 5:22PM
Easiest downvote I've ever given.
Sly @ Nov 9th 2009 5:27PM
WOW. "fgt". is it really that hard to type the 3 extra letters? or at least come up with a half-decent comeback. that word is SO fourth grade.
Phylogenetics @ Nov 9th 2009 5:56PM
No, Sly. Fourth Grade is much too cool for this guy.
Omnithrope @ Nov 10th 2009 7:03PM
Trite?
I don't think this word means what you think it means.
BunnySlapper @ Nov 9th 2009 4:54PM
I am so very tired of zombies. How about a new idea here game/film industry?
Faceman @ Nov 9th 2009 4:55PM
damn.. I've barely gotten anywhere in the main quest. I don't know if I'll be getting this. Blands is great, but I can't see myself droppin another ten bucks on it.

Clavius @ Nov 9th 2009 4:59PM
Been slowly playing this game and I must say I enjoy it alot. Before I wasnt much of a FPS fan at all, but this game has slowly turned me. Though playing online I havent done yet since hearing about the issue's. Just wish this type of DLC came out say last month. Since I dunno its pretty much Holloween themed for the most part.
Anyways can't wait!
