Smash TV creator talks potential sequel

Turmell noted that Warner Bros. obtained the rights to Smash TV in its acquisition of Midway, adding that the company has "already identified that there's interest in some of that old Midway IP." When asked whether we'd still see a Smash TV sequel, Turmel said, "I'm sure you'll see a Smash TV that will rise again." Turmell admitted he wouldn't take part in such a project, saying, "It's a shame that I won't be involved with it this time around."

Sequel? There already was one: Total Carnage (I owned an arcade cab with both PCBs for a while). It was at least a spin-off, if not sequel.

The play mechanic is very similar to that of Eugene Jarvis' earlier Robotron: 2084, with dual-joystick controls and series of single screen areas. The theme of the game, borrowing from The Running Man[1][2], involves players competing in a violent game show, set in the then future year of 1999 ....

I truly hope they make a sequel to this. I enjoyed the game so much in the arcade and it was one of those hectic games that had you running all around trying to stay alive from the masses of enemies.
