PS3 Beatles: Rock Band DLC crashing game's servers overseas [update]
European owners of the PS3 version of The Beatles: Rock Band who decided to purchase the "Abbey Road" DLC are having an awfully difficult time coming together. A lengthy forum thread on the Rock Band message board tells of the woes of a number of overseas faux-rockers who, after downloading the content on their PS3, have lost the ability to access any of the game's online modes.
A Harmonix developer responded to the complaints, asking for the specific circumstances of these server crashes and promising that the Beatles team is "investigating this issue to try to find out what's going on." That is to say, the Beatles: Rock Band development team -- not the Beatles themselves. We imagine they're a little too busy for this kind of thing.
Update: A Harmonix representative just emailed us the news that this bug has been squashed. European PS3-owning DLC-purchasing Beatles: Rock Band players, you may now return to your regularly scheduled rocking.

Meebe if the QA guys didn't take Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds seriously...

Um. It's been going on since the 29th.
First they announce the DLC for us for the 22th October. Then they delay it for us a whole week and ignore all the questions (not a SINGLE response on that issue) pretending we and our threads not exist. And after the DLC is actually released, the servers die and the issue is first acknowledged after a week when everybody started to get seriously annoyed.
Also, our "discounted track packs" are more expensive than buying single tracks. Sony contacted EA/Harmonix numerous times to ask if they could fix the pricing. No reply. Surprised yet?
I love Harmonix, their games and even their incredibly active Community Team... but they are HORRIBLE when it comes to dealing with their customers regarding serious issues. Unless it's an XBox issue. Those get fixed ASAP and are always a priority. Wii and PS3? Not so much I'm afraid :(...

That sounds like psn! Can't handle the work load.
Hehe!
Here we go!

Seriously though why is PS3 development still so full of fail? I still feel like I need to research what might be wrong with the PS3 version of anything before I consider buying a multiplatform game.
xxLUANCHYxx @ Nov 10th 2009 4:13PM
Right, seems like only only PS3 exclusives never have these server issues. For some reason the majority of time its a EA or Activision game with an issue on the PS3. But i guess thats Sony's fault (Sarcasm)
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Nov 10th 2009 4:16PM
It's not the PSN. It still works fine in the US.
And I had that issue before I purchased the DLC so it's not that either.
The Pie Pieper @ Nov 10th 2009 4:15PM
Yet another PS3 fail, whats new?
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Nov 10th 2009 4:16PM
You know what's new? SCREW YOU!
HeXeN @ Nov 10th 2009 4:21PM
"whats new?"
Well I'll tell you what's not new, you posting the same shit in every PS3-related article.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith @ Nov 10th 2009 4:27PM
Hey, can your console DO EVERYTHING? No? Then screw you, bucko!

Your comment history stinks of fail, troll.
Autopsy15 @ Nov 10th 2009 5:30PM
This man has the worst of the worst troll account I've ever seen. His insults on the PS3 aren't even original. It's just...sad, really.
Fort Griffen @ Nov 10th 2009 4:52PM
Solution: Get an Xbox360. Problem solved.
Bison Friend @ Nov 10th 2009 5:52PM
Man I wish joystiq would stop putting really bad Beatles puns in every article about this game..

It appears there shall be no LOVE for the foreigners.

I called the EA support desk here in the Netherlands yesterday. They told me they were unaware of issues with the game servers. It's just so ridiculous. Tomorrow it'll be two weeks without any online fun.
zmathue @ Nov 10th 2009 6:52PM
I also IMAGINE they're a little too busy for this kind of thing too.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Nov 10th 2009 7:51PM
Yeah, but even so, they should really do SOMETHING about it.
bongoes Sector 2814 @ Nov 10th 2009 10:01PM
I'VE GOT A FEELING this problem won't go away soon. They need to HELP the PS3 owners. Most people don't want to WAIT any longer.

In case anyone's interested, I'm working on a contest based on Beatles Rock Band that could land you a VIP trip to Vegas. It's over in a week, so it's now or never. The website is: http://thebeatlesinvasion.com
