Wait, you guys are still playing video games with your hands? What, are they baby games? For babies? We've been using Emotiv's EPOC human-computer interface for months now, allowing our cerebellums to play our games for us, completely cutting our appendageal middle men out of the equation. You'll have the same opportunity on December 21, when Emotiv ships limited quantities of the device to customers who decide to pony up for the $299 price tag.
Of course, it doesn't work with all your games. Actually, from what we've seen, it's only capable of making boxes spin around and disappear. What it's really great at, however, is creating super awkward press conferences.

Whoa man, where is that fruitloop in all black and the long pony tail from in the linked press conference from!? Like he's been stuck working at a Sharper Image or Gamestop and living on nothing but speed and microwave burritos.
I admit the Mattel Mindflex thingy sounded fun, but then I youtube'd it and it just looks like a bunch of morons staring at a ball.
I'll just still with the Wii Vitality thing when it comes out...
Sereeeeeeeeene!!!!

Lovely. Some games give me headaches already. Now im going to use my mind to control my character ?
Can we just skip this. And go to Virtual Reality. Technically this Mind control is just that. A Control.
It would be great to finally use and feel your body in some games like COD or Ratchet and Clank and so on. Or ride in a seat of a Zonda in NFS.

Exactly! That's what I want!
Never mind that most gamers would use it for sex minigames, but the concept would be awesome.

Actually when you said that. That brought up old thoughts when i was thinking about virtual reality xD
I thought about how cool it would be to walk around in PS3 Home and actually talk to people. And be able to feel stuff like a handshake or hug or hear the environment and feel the wind and heat of the sun.
Oh wait... we can do this now in real life but it will just be better then to use a controller the whole time. Of course there was the thought that came up with guys dry humping girls on Home. Or even worse a guy that puts himself as a girl just to touch himself. sad really -.-
But there are some things you cant experience. And thats 200mph in a Sports car on Burnout or NFS which some of us might never get to. Or thousands of feet in the air in a dogfight. The intensity and rush is something that we are sort of experiencing. But were not there just yet.

Ugh, can you imagine survival horror games when we start to get that "feel the game" technology down?
Imagine! You get to feel the coagulated blood splatter splash across your face or maybe thousands of tiny insects crawling up your legs.
The future is beautiful.

Think about it this way.
"I had sex today"
"I had sex in my virtual reality machine"
Which sounds better to you ? Really there are some things you should accomplish in real life, even though their are some things you will NEVER experience. But some things you will along the line and not rely on machines and data to get you their.

Oh and also, "darth has no life"... (and I'm sure I speak for every little fat german kid with a chocolate addiction); there is nothing more that screams "I have no life!" as stalking idiots like you, and excuse me for saying you can suck my proverbial fat little fuzzy chokolat covered balls!
Also, if you really do have the IQ of broccoli like it seems you do, I'm sorry...

Bradworth fuels Joystiq with the power of the Dark Side. It's actually a good thing rather than a bad thing. I would like to join Anti Troll Defense Force. Trolls can't take on the power of the Sith.

I preordered one of these in the summer of '08, but I think I ended up cancelling my order because I wanted to buy a PS3. If I didn't though, hey, it's fine by me.

I honestly think this is the future of gaming by simply using our minds. Yes, this company is the first to develop the technology, but from here on out, it can only get better. I wouldn't buy this headset just yet. I would wait till a major developer does something better with it. I would love to play Modern Warfare with my mind.

I actually got to try this at 2008's GDC. It was pretty interesting, though I don't know how practical it will be. Once the attendant strapped it to your head, there was a little calibrating to do. You saw a virtual face on the screen, and it would mimic your face. You blink your left eye, it blinks its left eye, you smile, it smiles. In the game itself, you controlled movement with a 360 controller. Your first task: pick up a boulder. The attendant tells you to stare at the boulder and concentrate on lifting it with your mind. You stare and stare at it, concentrating hard, and it starts to shake and at some point it started to lift. With a sense of satisfaction, I started to laugh and the boulder fell. The other action involved little spirity wisps floating around. You had to scare them away by making a mean face and growling. That worked well enough. Lots more lifting to do: You lift a few stone pillars and place them where they belong, and then it culminates in you lifting a mountain.
Again, it was interesting, and I don't know how much progress they made since early 2008, but it didn't seem horribly practical.

Didn't Atari already try this? And if I remember correctly, wasn't it an unmidigated disaster?
Google "Atari Mindlink" to see what I mean...
And I guess I'm the only one who gets the Back To The Future Part II, "babies" reference... :)
