They need to fix the lag that you could see in those demos before they worry about price. With the lag, it's worthless for anything beyond dash navigation no matter the price.

Yes because ALL products shown/demoed more than a year before their release are final versions with all the bugs kinked out. The fucking thing doesn't have an official name for fuck's sake.

Errr, that rant seemed a little misplaced.

Like I said, it's something they still need to work on, I wasn't complaining that my Natal lags. Plus, is it that absurd to think that something that has been common in all motion control tech so far might not be something that just hasn't been perfected yet, and will still be there in the end?

Lastly, if it were something they were confident would be eliminated, you'd think they would have mentioned it in one of their demos.

The fact that Epic and Bungie have already (unofficially) washed their hands of Natal doesn't bode well for the platform.

I would think Microsoft would price this thing the way they price their consoles, with very limited profit (at least initially). They need this thing to be successful way more than they need it to be profitable. At least that's my completely uniformed analysis of the situation.

14 games at launch! That's more games than have ever been made for something like the Wii Fit (which has been out over a year) or the motion plus. I own both peripherals and they are going on craigslist shortly.

EPIC FAIL getting third party support (or even first party support beyond the one launch title that has accompanied these products) for your addons Nintendo.

Too bad MS is putting all that time and money into Natal when they could have put it behind making games or buying developers.
God knows how much money and manpower is being diverted away from actual console gaming with an old school game pad. All that money and time could have really helped in developing an new IP or purchasing a top flight developer..

Yeah... so if I had room in my entertainment center to set this monstrosity, then perhaps I'd be a bit more intrigued. But as it stands, I barely have room to fit the Wii sensor. Also...how long is the cable on this thing? If I had room to put this thing, would I be drilling holes in the entertainment center to run the cable between it and the 360? Don't get me wrong, I think it's an interesting piece of tech I just don't see this thing to be to appealing long term due to their being more downside than up at the moment.

The technology for the camera and IR is pretty cheap. Even the processing chip will be cheap as well. Hardware wise, Natal will probably cost MS less than 50 bucks to create. All of the magic is on the software end and once it's created MS can rely on game sales to make up that cost.

The difference between Natal and the other accessories from MS is that Natal is made to move 360 systems. Its a new platform and MS need a entry price that is cheap enough for people to easily make a decision to purchase the device.

Spyder doesnt deserve all this aggression. He's got the right idea, just a very negative view.

It is just a way to expand their market into Nintendo's audience, which isnt made up of loyal console gamers (they all own 360's) - instead they have targeted (& nintendo have said this many times) people of ALL ages to introduce them to gaming through the Wii & DS.

Whilst Natal is more advance than the ps2 eyetoy, im sure we're all skeptical about what these 14games are going to be & my bet is that 90% of them are family orientated and less aimed at the "hardcore" audience unlike Sony's approach of bringing games like RE5 to their new motion controls.

I don't think "under $50" is necessarily cheap, but I will say if they want this thing to succeed they have to make it imperative to use and easy to acquire.

The reason most accessories fail is because it's too expensive and not necessary to enjoy games. The reason Wii took off is because they included the remote with the system.

If they don't do something similar, natal will fail.

It does indeed sound like a too-good-to-be-true price, especially since most of the other peripherals have been pretty expensive. But for it to really be successful, it needs to be $50 or below, so maybe they're banking on the future with this one.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Natal also has voice recognition. I think there is potential for that aspect to be pretty compelling for games like Mass Effect or Fable. I'm a little skeptical but also excited just to see how this type of tehnology might take games to the next level of interactivity.

I still don't understand why people are so reluctant to changes, or to try something different, I like the way gaming is going, trying new ideas is always good, that's how a medium evolves (or anything, without changes we wouldn't have progress).

I don't believe this price, is too low, I think is going to be higher (50 is even lower than a game). I think MS should have tried making this in the next generation, and included it inside the console, because the people they are aiming for already have a wii, and after reading the opinions here, "hardcore" gamers won't be buying this, so the only posible way for them to try Natal is to already have it in the console.
