Yeah the sniping is fine. Either:

A) Get a better gun
B) Get a higher sniping proficiency level
C1) Be a better shot
~or~
C2) Shoot more bullets

I don't know if you played on PC, but with a high accuracy sniper and maxed out the Hunter's accuracy skill, there are two main flaws:

1) At close range it's fine, but at actual sniping range you can't get your crosshair on an enemy's head, it jerks a few pixels rather than moving smoothly.

2) Obvious headshots miss and seem to go right through the targets head or don't crit, while near misses crit. Maybe I had aim assist on, but I think I turned it off.

Snarf, there is actually some setting in the settings.ini file (or config.ini, I don't remember exactly so look it up on the net for specifics) where you can go in and turn off mouse smoothing and that seems to have helped out many people with that issue you're describing. Other than that, I have zero problems sniping and getting crits with a sniper at practically any range. Within reason, obviously. Also, you have to remember that no matter your skill and the weapon accuracy, you're never going to be 100%, bullets will deviate regardless.

"There might be spoilers for Borderlands, you're warned!"

I'd get it, but they'll need to work on:

-A good storyline, the Vault bullshit won't work again, especially since the ending sucked, and pretty much was pointless.
-Better Boss battles, the first major one(Sledge), was kinda difficult and I was "Shit, how do I kill this guy!?" after my 3rd respawn, and yet still having a blast. But then, the rest were boring, well, until Flynt and his mob, which were pretty hard to beat. The last boss was just disappointing, didn't even get to explore the vault...
-Very bad bugs, at least on PS3 version. I was level 47, joined an online game, and lost all my weapon proficiency and skill points. I gained level 50 and only had 2 skill points.
-Storage, so many weapons I want to keep for later, but can't because there's no place to store them!
-Better character customization, armor, clothes and skill wise, etc.

Well, after the DLC, I'll see if I'd buy a sequel.

Nooooo! I had almost blocked the fight with the giant vagina face monster from my mind *sobs uncontrollably as a black & white grainy flashback of the encounter plays in her mind*

"seeing stores running out of stock,"

Damn straight, looked at every game shop in town and was sold out. Didn't re-stock till 2 weeks later, but even then it was hard to get my hands on.

I haven't played any co-op game that's as much fun as Borderlands this year. I'd buy a sequel in a heartbeat at this point (and I'll probably be buying whatever DLC they drop).

MEGA SPOILERS

In the sequel, can we play as Ninja Assassin Claptrap?

I didn't think the ending was that bad. It wasn't the most compelling story in the history of the medium but it wasn't terrible.

Ending Spoiler Talk:

Actually, with some guesswork, there's the bones of a really good plot there. You're a merc/treasure hunter that got hoodwinked into a gigantic corp-war between rival gun manufacturers. The planet is either a testing sandbox for the multiple factories, or potentially the source of the next huge reverse-engineered evolution of weaponry, or both.

Tannis is backed by Atlas, who gained superiority by reverse-engineering alien tech on Prometheus. Your actions are guided by a Hyperion satellite who 'helpfully' pushes you into the line of fire against Crimson Lance, who are also backed by Atlas.

I wish they'd kept the character backstories, but it definitely felt like a Merchanter's War type deal. Not exactly CJ Cherryh, but fun stuff.

I thought (think) Borderlands is a great game. Still haven't finished my first playthrough, but I'm already thinking about how I'm going to do things differently the second go-round. I'm still not convinced co-op is better than just exploring Pandora alone, but they did a good job with being able to just jump in and out of games.

And since it's impossible for any self-respecting video game-forum goer to not put his or her two cents worth in when 'GOTY' is brought up, mine still wholeheartedly goes to Red Faction Guerrilla. No, really.

*WARNING SPOILERS*

Maybe we might actually get to go into the vault. You know, instead of having your main mission throughout the entire game to get into the vault, then at the end...oh shnap! No vault for you! You came all this way for nothing! Oh wait, maybe you can get something for turning in the vault key. Experience! Woohoo! You get some experience for completing the story line mission! One of the most disappointing endings to a game ever. *steps down from soapbox*

Luckily, I have not fallen victim to any of these issues that I've heard about. It's all been smooth sailing. I love everything about Borderlands, except for 2 things. The 2 things that need vastly improved in a sequel is the story and character development. Gearbox created a wonderfully imaginative environment with some quirky characters, but I feel that they didn't develop them enough. Same goes for the actual story. Do this and they'll have an instant AAA on their hands. Let's get to know more about this crazy world and its characters/creatures.

I'd like it if the weapons were more like Parasite Eve or Disgaea, where you can take status effects or modifiers and move them from one weapon to the other to create your ideal super-weapon.

Still an awesome game, looking forward to the DLC and an eventual sequel.

If there's a sequel, chances are that the new IP in question succeeded and people love it, therefore will flock to it.

This game has a lot of potential. Its groundbreaking and revolutionary.

If there's more character/weapon parameters then probably it will be more interesting.

Add armors, more active skills (suggestion like running, or jumping or aoe damage/elementals), make weapon proficencies as something like controlllable attributes (e.g as in str, dex, int in rpg games), add tougher, impossible dungeons, item set, more classes.

Tough and impossible optional dungeons are a must for better replayablitity.

Make all character balanced so 4v4 pvp is possible. damn it would be awesome!!
Imagine high levels pvp duel, almost like mmos

You dont need a storyline for this kind of game, just make more bosses/ unique monsters.

Remember Diablo doesnt have any fking story your mission is just to kill him, end of story.

EVen though ive just bought Modern Warfare 2 I still play this game coz its too awesome
