Artist's resume lists work on 'R3' for Insomniac Games
38
If you're impressed by the works of artist Ben Mauro -- featured on his blog, "Perpetual Motion" -- you may soon be seeing more of it in the next game from Resistance developer Insomniac Games. According to Mauro's LinkedIn profile, he spent three sleepless months from March until May 2009 crafting content for several projects, including "RCF2" (presumably Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time), "R3" and some unannounced items. [Note: Mentions of "R3" and "unannounced projects" have mysteriously vanished since we contacted the parties concerned.]
Though Insomniac's PlayStation 3 release pattern -- oh, and a massive billboard -- would seem to unfurl "R3" as Resistance 3, a third outing for Chimera crusher Nathan Hale has not been officially announced. A bigger, better sequel would undoubtedly provide a good opportunity to counter the negative feedback that the previous game incurred in hardcore fans.

I thought it wasn't too bad...what disappointed me was the multiplayer. R1 multiplayer was amazing, but R2 I thought was boring and I was not able to fall in love with it like I did the first time around.
It had so much potential too. Nice game modes, beautiful visuals...but then you waste two clips just to damage someone...sigh.

I fully regretted playing R2's campaign. My time would've been better spent on Demon's Souls and the like. But I figured, I paid for it, I might as well see it through.
Here's keeping my fingers cross that the 3rd time's a charm.

they really need to take a look at what they did the first time around, what everyone liked about 2nd and put it together for the 3rd. the first had a better story (i like the narration better) and the weapon wheel made it feel more like an Insomniac game. and i really liked the WWII setting of the 1st as opposed to the mostly futuristic sci-fi tone of the 2nd. i know the 1st was supposed to be futuristic as well but it felt more like "alternate WWII" than a straight up sci-fi game.
and the competitive multiplayer of the 1st was SO much more fun than in the 2nd. while the online co-op on the 2nd was super addictive. and i really missed the co-op story mode of the first.
so i guess my list for things 3 should have are:
Things from R1: Campaign, Weapon wheel, narrator, campaign co-op, competitive multiplayer
Things from R2: Visuals, online co-op, newer weapons
and the thing i hope the most they don't bring back from 2 are those damn Chameleons. OMG i hated those things!

I liked the R3 campaign, but more for the combat that the actual story, there were a few "Heck yeah!" bits. And I ADORE the multiplayer, I don't play competitive much but the co-op is AMAZING, I'd have bought that if it was a game alone if I could

I bever tried the single player, but then I found CoD4 boring as well. I have been spoilt by Killzone 2 and Uncharted's single player campaigns. But coop and multiplayer were fun
As far as I could get from Amzon's review, its was either 4-5 star or very por reviews - and the latter was due to two reasons mostly: the absence of splitsceen and the removal of the weapon wheel. I think if they put these back in, R3 will be great.

Personally I take great offense when people make snide comments using the word retarded and try to sound hip. There is nothing funny about the word retarded. When you use it you hurt people who are just doing the best they can. Wish I could say the same thing about you.

Its been a couple of weeks since I platinumed A Crack In Time, but it just dawned on me...that was a pretty crappy sequel!
You spend all that time looking for clank, and once you get him back he serves no purpose. The weapons sucked, the pirate theme was gone, and what happened to that girl that helped you in the previous two Future titles?
Tools of Destruction felt like a much better game, and I think the graphics were actually better for it! I know people feel the same way for the Resistance franchise.

Did anybody actually doubt that there's going to be a Resistance 3? Really?

I know a lot of you will say otherwise, but I quite enjoyed R2 a lot more than R1. Better color palette, longer story and Online CO-OP was awesome, I spent countless hours leveling my soldier split screen with my spec ops girlfriend.
Okay the single player could have used some work, I didn't think it was stellar enough to be up to Insomniac's standards. So yeah can't wait for R3!

I feel exactly the same man. R2 had a more epic scale, cooler boss fights, awesome weapons and just felt more fun and exciting then R1. Plus the Co Op mode was very fun and addicting.

I also loved R2, the online was so much better than the first game and the co op was the best I have ever played. The campaign had its moments but in the end it dragged on a bit and the boss battles were weak beyond belief.

I'm not really feeling the exclusive PS3 FPSs. Don't get me wrong, I love me some LBP and Infamous and Uncharted, but I was really underwhelmed by Resistance and Killzone 2. Not sure why. Then again, now that I think about it, I can't think of a single 360 exclusive shooter that I was in love with either. I'm not saying that they don't have high-production values or that they're not well-made games, but I guess I just really prefer TPSs.

Heres to hoping they will make a better SP, cause for me, and at the time I played it before K2 appeared, the online was the shit. It still is, but nowadays, I cant seem to go back to the game. But if R3 gets to have a fuckin great SP, im there.

*******SPOILER********
Who do you think we will be playing as in R3? I think cappelli would be a good pick since he's the only one of the squad left alive at the end and out of all of them he seemed to have the most personality. I'm not so sure about seeing the end of Hale yes he did get his brains blown out but I'm sure they'll find someway to bring back his character but maybe not in his human form.

I dunno man, you gotta remember he's crazy-hale-daedalus-hybrid-human-chimera-man, if Daedalus could survive all those bullets you pumped into him I'm pretty sure Hale could survive a shot to the head. Plus it'd be awesome to play R3 with those powers Hale gets at the end of R2.

In my opinion, I think it will be a cliche if Nathan Hale is back and with him dead, Insomniac is in a good position to tell an even better story

I hope it's the guy from Retribution.
No spoilers please, I still need to finish the last few levels, so I'm not sure if he's still alive.

Capelli's OK too...I mean, the man survived getting eaten by a giant monster, so he immediately qualifies as a badass. lol.

What's wrong with you? Killzone 2 was great - the only thing maybe lacking was the narrative, which seemed a bit on the simplistic side. At least it wasn't convoluted like mw2's story.
Plus, I was highly entertained with Rico and his F-bombs. The man's a great, loose cannon.
Looking forward to the next installment.
Have you tried MGO yet? That's alot of fun, I never was really good at it, but if I had more time I would.

I actually liked the R2 campaign. But I liked how the first one played, as it was unique and not just a halo/cod. I'm sure this one will be sweet.

Seems like lot of people don't like R2, well it wasn't on par with R:FOM that have an amazing atmosphere, kind of survival horror stuff in a little some way, but it wasn't really Crappy either, I just hope R3 will be an improvement from the first with all the good stuff they take off in the second

I thought R2 was alright... I don't get all the complaints. Then again, I only have one... that being the narrative was absent that made Fall of Man so great.
At any rate, R3 is mentioned for 2010 release in R&CF: ACiT, so its pretty much confirmed... or so I read, amongst some of the Zoni text is translatable words mentioning R&CF2 2009, R3 2010, among a few names and such. Although I can't confirm, as I've only done such a thing for games like Jak and Daxter, rather than Ratchet & Clank.

At the risk of being downvoted, I want R3 to feel more specifically like CoD5. Although neither "World War II" nor "Alien/Sci-Fi" FPS concepts are new by a long shot I've yet to see them adequately combined and the Resistance series seems like the best chance yet to do so.
With Naughty Dog bringing out the awesome Uncharted 2, the bar is already set high for their "friendly rival" developers to top it before, say, Guerrilla Games barges in with Killzone 3.
