As a Christian, its sentiments like this that make me sad. I don't blame you at all - its the mass of Christians who haven't thought things through that scare me.

The message of Christianity is not an NRA-loving, abortion-hating, American book. Its love of those who are your enemies. Probably those who hate the NRA, support abortion, and hate America for many.

I apologize for the false advertising you have been shown.

mycbrad,

"The message of Christianity is not an NRA-loving, abortion-hating, American book. Its love of those who are your enemies. Probably those who hate the NRA, support abortion, and hate America for many."

Do you see that you show your bias in how you define the enemies of Christians? "...[t]hose who hate the NRA, support abortion, and hate America"? For those of us who are citizens of the USA, shouldn't we take offense at any of our fellow citizens being called "haters"? I don't hate my country. And I see my fellow citizens, whether they agree with me or not, as fellow citizens, not as "enemies". Part of being pluralists - and that's what the US is supposed to be, fortunately - is not looking at those who disagree with you as enemies.

That's why the message of Christianity is a complete and utter FAIL. Love your enemies? Please. What if you stop LOOKING at other people as your enemies? I'm not being so naive as to say there are no people one should call enemies; just to say we should limit the use of the word to the times when it's actually a useful description. Simple disagreement ain't it.

Kudos to these guys for trying something different. I don't know that it will sell a whole lot, but it's a cool idea, nonetheless.

And given that it's a paid app that you have to CHOOSE to download, there's no indoctrination / brainwashing involved. All the folks that think as such really need to examine whether they are being honest with themselves, and not reacting out of blind hatred for religion.

Besides, atheists try to convert people to their point of view as well. Under that standard, would that not also be considered "indoctrination"?

Atheists don't try to convert people. If they try anything, it's more like 'un-converting' people. Making them open their eyes.

Surely this won't have DLC, such as:

160 points gets you:
- New animated GIF maps, displaying where in the world the story is
- Old cheesy TBN movie clips of the action in (not-so) HIGH DEFINITION
- 200 more achievement points for reading the New Testament in a microphone

I actually think that's a good idea. I've been to numerous youth groups where they have xboxs and it would come in very handy. Now the real question... what are the achievements?!?

Download the demo and then delete it without launching the game. It's called "All Grown Up!"

You know what I want? I want Odyssey Navigator X or Mein Kampf Navigator X--they're both as historically accurate as the Bible.

Except Mein Kampf actually abstractly documents a historical even. 90% of the stuff mentioned in the Bible is complete fiction.

Yeah, see the problem with this is that A) it costs money, and B) the vast majority of people who might even potentially be interested in it MOST LIKELY already have a real-life Bible. In fact, they probably have several. Put those two facts together and I don't see this selling like hotcakes, except MAYBE to people who feel like by buying it they're somehow invalidating the accusation that they're being sacrilegious by enjoying Grand Theft Auto (or, more inexplicably, even playing an Xbox).

Also, if games based on the Bible were in fact true to their source material, they would be rated M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity and Strong Sexual Content. Seriously, have you read that shit??

@Lurkero

You act like those are the only games on the xbox, and that XBL games are only played as a "chaser" or warm-up for retail titles. If it was $1 or $2 I could see someone use it to search for a verse or two, although I prefer the hardcopy for books and games when available.

Hmmmm. Lots of religion and atheist bile here. What about the "get your crappy apps off my gaming console" anger? To me this is as bad as the massage apps. Where are the cool and different indie games we were promised? Instead we get 80 point shovelware, reskinned starter kits, and amateur versions of games which already exist. If "developers" keep releasing ridiculous crap like this, the 360 will die trying to be all things to all people. Just give us the games!

Its not that I want the Gita or the Torah either. In fact my original post never said anything to that effect. I was merely stating that offerings such as this are always seemingly geared to a Christian audience. Moreover, its just that I find it more than just weird that Christianity seems to be treated as more of a business these days than a religion. Moreover, the quote from Linne in the article about how "The Xbox isn't secular entertainment anymore" is a bit disconcerting.

Why can't we just have ideas? So much easier to change an idea...

@DBuck_Eye: Nice Simpsons reference btw.
