Madden NFL Arcade rushes towards early Thanksgiving release
, respectively.Unlike its retail counterpart, NFL Arcade doesn't attempt to recreate the sport with any level of "realism." The field is much smaller and players will have to get touchdowns within four tries (no way to get a first down). The various power-ups, coupled with the smaller field, will make for much faster games and much higher scores. Its also likely to become one of the best-selling downloadable games ever, and from what we hear, EA really could use the cash.

I would ask "Why would they do this after just releasing Madden 10, which was one of the most sucessful in the franchise?", but that would make me look hypocritical...

There you are you son of a bitch!

You should be asking "Why did they do this instead of releasing a Mutant League Football game with the Madden 10 engine?"
Martin @ Nov 12th 2009 3:39PM
Because it's all about vampires now, not mutants. Go back to the 80s. :P

After being disappointed by Battlefield 1943, I think I'll hold off on downloadable games for a while.
Shimrra @ Nov 12th 2009 3:04PM
You feelin disappointed because you suck in the game. Nuff Said !
Mr.ESC @ Nov 12th 2009 4:24PM
Oh snap bro,you just got told by Lando.
Shimrra @ Nov 12th 2009 3:03PM
My only question is why wasn't this in Madden that just came out? Oh yeah I forgot EA loves squeezing the stone...
tomlinson731 @ Nov 12th 2009 3:34PM
Why would this be in Madden 10? Aside from the fact that I'm sure this wasn't even nearing completion at the time of release, this looks to be targeting the more casual football fan rather than the more hardcore (what Madden 10 caters to).
EA is hardly one to knock on for milking the tits dry in comparison to other huge publishers.
Trey @ Nov 12th 2009 3:06PM
Somewhere on another plane of intangible reality, the better idea of making a licensed Blitz-esque game is selling Playboy magazines to Lust.
vidGuy @ Nov 12th 2009 3:06PM
This looks absolutely horrible.
Amazingmike @ Nov 12th 2009 3:07PM
This looks fucking awful. I didn't really see anything particularly arcadey about it aside from the awful character frames. I thought this was supposed to be something more akin to NFL Blitz and not just a shitty version of Madden?
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Nov 12th 2009 3:26PM
Didn't see anything arcadey about it?
Multiple shot passes? Frozen enemies? Calling your plays as instant audibles every single play? Did I mention multiple shot passes?
plyx @ Nov 12th 2009 7:54PM
I was going to say I remember this game back when it was called Blitz.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Nov 12th 2009 3:07PM
uhhhh yea....
so I won't be buying this.....now if it was just $5 THEN I would be tempted....
knightwing19 @ Nov 12th 2009 3:35PM
Why does this one look so better than the hockey one? This just looks like Madden where as the NHL game looks like garbage compared to its game.
nnarum23 @ Nov 12th 2009 3:36PM
So now we get the Wii game as DLC!
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 12th 2009 3:41PM
Awesome comment. I was going to comment that it had the same design but your comment was much more better.
Doug @ Nov 12th 2009 3:40PM
"EA Sports... it's in the game..."
That force-fed in-game advert--for a game you just bought--is like a head on a pike, warding off all who would enter.
ducttapeBigSexy (PSN&XBL: ducttape12) @ Nov 12th 2009 3:41PM
Why not just spend that $15 on a non-gimped version of Madden? http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=9809
Jeremy Eden @ Nov 12th 2009 10:17PM
Because they're completely different games???
Martyrdom @ Nov 12th 2009 3:45PM
So I'm the only one who thinks this is looks pretty good? Also I'm guessing you can use your xbox avatars for this one.
Jesse @ Nov 12th 2009 3:47PM
I'm undecided. I wish instead of big stadiums, they would have played this in empty lots or in the street. I want a game where its like playing football with the family in the backyard... 5 on 5 games, tackle of course, and crazy trick plays.
I like the arcade feel of it a little, but a backyard style of football would be way more fun where everything can be customized. Field size, 1st downs, scoring values, tackle/touch/flag, reffing/penalties, players on a team, time/score limit. It would be awesome.
Play a 100 yard field with 1st downs only at the 30 yard lines. Tackle football, where offense calls the penalties with no rebuttals. Score 1 for passing in, 3 for running in, no Point After. 5v5 of course. First team to 10 wins.
Add in rules for counts before the defense can blitz and when the quarterback can go across the line of scrimmage and it would be perfect!
Jeremy Eden @ Nov 12th 2009 10:25PM
JForce has you covered. But probably not till 2011.
It will be awesome.
Deezul @ Nov 12th 2009 3:57PM
I'm interested in it, but the Tecmo basketball gamea was definaltely NOT an NBA JAM clone. It was basketball with momentum, and some fancy effects when you pass/shoot.
If you want to make an arcade basketball game, it has to be two players. This game is going the right route, with only a handful of players.

Fifteen dollars...no thanks. I gave up on all things Madden after 07.
nick @ Nov 12th 2009 4:16PM
This game is not tracking for me. And although I've bought Madden titles in the past, I'm done with this series for a while.
NevilleThegame @ Nov 12th 2009 4:27PM
5 questions1. how many players off/online can play?2. Custom Sountracks?3. Predicted space size?4. Create a player?5. how deep is it?( in regards to single/muti player)
NevilleThegame @ Nov 12th 2009 4:36PM
also the last good Madden was 2004 for me. dont like the current gen version of Madden_ they should design around the PS3
Amazingmike @ Nov 12th 2009 4:42PM
But where's the speed, where's the intensity? When I think of an arcade football game I think of massive, crushing tackles all the time, huge jumps, and insane speed. Aside from those, while cool, ultimately gimmicky maneuvers, this just looks like a stripped down version of Madden. No thanks.
Chris @ Nov 12th 2009 8:53PM
"The field is much smaller and players will have to get touchdowns within four tries (no way to get a first down). "
Isn't that the whole point of Arena Football???
robo3687 @ Nov 12th 2009 11:01PM
isn't this just a reskinned nfl tour?....sure looks like it......i played the demo of tour (also ea produced) the other day and it looked just like this.....
oh and it was terrible...
taurus82 (Point & Click-Graphic Adventures on PlayStation 3 Please) @ Nov 13th 2009 5:20AM
Even if this does get released in UK/EU, I'm gonna wait for the PSN remake of Speedball.
