PSP Go hacked and homebrew-enabled, becomes Sega CD Go
Some folks measure the length of time it takes for a new console to be hacked wide open by how long it takes to display a "Hello, World!" message. For us, that metric is determined by how long it takes to get a Sega CD emulator running on the system. For the PSP Go, that period of time has been finalized: 43 long, lonely, Night Trap-less days.
A YouTube video by "Neon" from "Team Typhoon" (is that some sort of gang?) appears to prove that on some PSP Go, somewhere in the world, one can play Sonic CD. Don't get your hopes up -- the video's annotations repeatedly promise that the hack will not be released to the general public, so for the time being, you're going to have to keep playing that old copy of Wirehead on your clunky, Voltron-esque home console. Still, our heart swells knowing that our wildest dreams are possible -- if not slightly out of reach.

CLUNKY?
My SegaCD is awesome, thank you very much! And I play Silpheed and Snatcher on it, actually.
Sonic CD is the best one in the series, though.
CheeziePotato (ATDF's Super Saiyan) @ Nov 12th 2009 7:34PM
Sonic CD FTW
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Nov 12th 2009 7:35PM
Does it play Joystiq.com?
That would explain the addiction.

See? Nothing clunky or Voltron-esque about it!

Take the 32X off and then you got yourself a great 16 bit experience.
Extinction @ Nov 12th 2009 9:10PM
You'd have to be a complete ass to show everyone this and not release it
Phil @ Nov 12th 2009 11:33PM
Silpheed FTW. Loved that game.

Nobody tell Sony!
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 12th 2009 7:35PM
Too late. Jack Tretton's gonna find out ANY time now.
charlie b. @ Nov 12th 2009 7:36PM
maybe Sony did it, and this is a leak.

Sad, pathetic excuse for gamers, all of you. Glorifying this garbage.
CheeziePotato (ATDF's Super Saiyan) @ Nov 12th 2009 7:40PM
FUCK YOU
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 12th 2009 7:41PM
Oh, you so did not just say the Sega CD was garbage. You are a real class-act, buddy!
Please, stop trolling.
Orchard Pear @ Nov 12th 2009 7:43PM
I wasn't talking about the Sega CD.
But yes, it is also garbage. =P
Who wants to play some Night Trap?!
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 12th 2009 7:45PM
*fries Orchard with Lightning*
Night Trap? No one wants to play that!
They want to play Lunar, Lunar 2, Popful Mail, Vay, Snatcher, Silpheed, Keio Flying Squadron, Eternal Champions, and Sonic CD.
CheeziePotato (ATDF's Super Saiyan) @ Nov 12th 2009 7:47PM
Well the Sega CD did have a lot of bad games, but it also had some really good ones. At least it was much better than the CDi and the 32X.
Josh @ Nov 12th 2009 7:47PM
FUCK IW!
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 12th 2009 7:48PM
The 32X really suffered from Sega's bad decision on launching it so close to the Saturn, but Virtua Racing Deluxe, Shadow Squadron, and DarXide are all pretty good.
HighFiveJesus @ Nov 12th 2009 8:37PM
You can't actually fry people with lightning. The more you know.
Viva La Snake @ Nov 12th 2009 10:35PM
@Orchard Pear,
STFU and GTFO!!
Lurkero @ Nov 12th 2009 7:48PM
At least their respectful enough not to release to the public
Stevetrop @ Nov 12th 2009 8:00PM
Don't worry it will find its way to the public thats for sure. If one person or one team can do it then several people or several teams will find out how to do it as well.
coolbho3000 @ Nov 13th 2009 12:04AM
They're not releasing it to the public because they're saving the exploit. If it gets released to the public, Sony will get their dirty hands on it, then fix the bug in the next FW revision.
Daisuke @ Nov 12th 2009 7:50PM
+1 to the guy who hacked it!
Electro Poof - ATDF Secret Agent. @ Nov 12th 2009 8:01PM
Only for It to get security updated and then get hacked again a week later and then updated again.
Daisuke @ Nov 12th 2009 8:03PM
Ahhh the circle of security updates....
BigD145 @ Nov 12th 2009 8:22PM
Ah, the futility of security updates.
Halifirien @ Nov 12th 2009 7:50PM
A portable version of the Sega-CD game "Dark Wizard" would be lovely.
Stevetrop @ Nov 12th 2009 10:55PM
I salute you sir. Wonderful plan
OptimumEDGE @ Nov 12th 2009 7:57PM
Hacked already? Lol. Poor sony...
Unless they left it easy on purpose. ;-)
Rhamsey @ Nov 12th 2009 8:03PM
The dsi took like a day and a half.
ChuckBartowski (ATDF Technical Consultant) @ Nov 12th 2009 8:44PM
No the dsi took a while. The DSi has technically never really been hacked, just flashcart enabled. The Twiizers hack was the first real hack, but it has yet to be released.
kekey @ Nov 12th 2009 8:11PM
if i was sony i let it be hackable so more ppl would pay 250 for it :)
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 12th 2009 8:16PM
Yeah, because all those hackers would totally pay for all their games, right?
Phylogenetics @ Nov 12th 2009 8:51PM
I suspect no one will believe me, but I've actually paid for all my games and my PSP is hacked. I got...12 PSP games cases I can count right now. I used the UMD loader to throw the iso's onto the memory card so I wouldn't have to carry all the discs with me.
I've put 8 of my games onto my memory stick as well as a bad port of Doom. You can get a lot more functionality from a hacked PSP.
Plastic Rat @ Nov 13th 2009 5:09AM
What Phylogenetics said.
My PSP is hacked and I've paid for all my games. I use the built in CFW ripper to dump them to the memory stick so I don't have to lug the UMDs around everywhere.
If the PSP Go got hacked completely I'd seriously consider buying one, because then my UMD collection wouldn't be useless for it.
Ryan P. @ Nov 12th 2009 8:15PM
"This will NEVER EVER be released"
Oh man, I kind of wanted a PSPGo when I read the article title, but that kind of ruined it for me.
Extinction @ Nov 12th 2009 9:12PM
Agreed. I'd have bought a Go tomorrow had they released this
RKN (Steam ID: nerdydesi) @ Nov 12th 2009 8:32PM
Its not cool that if I wanted to play an older game on the PSPGo, I'd have to buy the digital copy from PSN for $20 when I could find a UMD copy for less than $10.
Orion @ Nov 12th 2009 8:43PM
Why does this guy sound like a fat mad scientist?
ChuckBartowski (ATDF Technical Consultant) @ Nov 12th 2009 8:47PM
Technically, it was hacked 2 days after release on October 3rd. that exploit was also never released.
incendious @ Nov 12th 2009 8:54PM
And Sony will release a new firmware update. It'll be an endless cycle.
sikbeta @ Nov 12th 2009 9:03PM
I'm not into homebrew stuff, a hack isn't enable to play pirated games, is just a question
useedems @ Nov 13th 2009 2:47AM
lolwut
AerialAngel87 [PSN ID - AerialAngel] @ Nov 12th 2009 9:15PM
PLEASE NO ISO OR CSO Support
fuck....i would love to play sonic or megaman battle network on the psp go but i dont want iso or cso support. otherwise the psp is just going to get even worse piracy and the last thing i need is for it to die >.
AerialAngel87 [PSN ID - AerialAngel] @ Nov 12th 2009 9:23PM
Oh bragging rights.....awesome... .-.
