Sony: Uncharted 2 has sold over one million copies

Okay, so Modern Warfare 2 sold more copies than there are people on the planet -- let's not get so lost in the hub-bub of everyone's new fling that we forget about the practically ancient Uncharted 2. Aren't you curious how it's been selling? Well, earlier today, at the BMO Capital Markets "Digital Entertainment Conference," Sony America VP of Business Development Phil Rosenberg announced that "as of last week, we've already sold over a million copies [of Uncharted 2] in just a couple weeks on the market."

We have no way of knowing whether that number is accurate, though with the NPDs due out later today, we imagine we'll be finding out soon if it's as inflated as Nate Drake's ego, or if it's as accurate as Nate Drake ... using ... using a sniper rifle. And shooting stuff. Like, in an accurate manner.

I've been wondering how Uncharted 2 is doing. Haven't heard anything about it for a while. But I wouldn't take Joystiq's blogging of the milestone as 'bashing.' It's unfortunate timing that this news came about after the numbers for Modern Warfare 2, because it sort of dwarfs everyone else. If anything, Joystiq is helping keep the buzz for Uncharted 2 going, so that people who haven't bought the title yet, are reminded that it's out there and doing well.

That's Sony's fault for releasing alongside MW2. They should have known better. More stupid moves by Sony, damn that company sucks.

Let's be honest, Joystiq is being stupid. A common malady of gaming blogs.

NPD tracks only North American sales, we don't know if the comments are indicating global or domestic sales in regard to the million quote. The MW2 figure quoted in the article for comparison includes global sales, hence the NPD as a form of confirmation is also inaccurate. Worse still, the jokes aren't funny.

Regardless, sales figures aren't an indication of how good or bad a game is. So snide remarks and aborted attempts at being witty are unnecessary.

I first watched Firefly just after playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It was a proper mind-fuck.

In reference to Modern Warfare, I'm playing through COD4 right now (never played it somehow), and I think the thing that homosexuals should be most mad about with regard to the Fight Against Grenade Spam is being associated with anything so absolutely lame as the laziness of IW making Veteran hard simply by adding said grenade spam (they might have been talking about multiplayer, but I don't care). It's like the terrorists in that game must buy half the world's grenade supply. Unbelievable when 4 land right next you; so lame.

Yeah thats really nice.....but this is a post about Uncharted 2. I cant wait until next week when I can go online and read about something other than MW2.

In regards to Uncharted 2, this is really good news! While PS3 games usually don't sell millions in the first week they have a trend of building up their sales over time to a pretty good number.

Fair enough. I read MW2 in the paragraph and got mad. Stupid Borderlands and its keeping me from starting U2. At least this if the first holiday period I've got time to play lots of games. Must avoid multiplayer though, otherwise I'll never get anywhere.

Yep. I also have 6 hands and 6 arms, for which I use to play. Co-op is a breeze.

it is an excellent contender for MW2, Arkham Asylum and, I'm not really sure what else, I'd say L4D2 and Assassin's Creed 2 but those aren't out yet so I'll save my judgment

Earlier in the year, I would have said KZ2 was guaranteed, but with the number of great games this year I'm not so certain anymore.
