Encore Software and developer Runic Games have announced plans to enchant its relationship by entering an exclusive publishing agreement that will send the addictive download-only PC title Torchlight to retail stores on January 5, 2010 for a MSRP of $19.99. Combining skills like so many elemental gems, Runic's design posse includes members from the original team that developed titles like Diablo and Diablo II (anyone ever heard of those?).
Torchlight -- which recently released free editing tools to its users -- is currently available for PC via its website. A Mac version is planned for sometime in 2010. Sometime, meaning "not soon enough."

Between Borderlands and Torchlight it's been a pretty good year for loot-whores.

Agreed about Borderlands, but haven't played Torchlight. Would love to see Torchlight on the 360 or PS3.

You could always just check out the demo. Requirements aren't high at all.

It's probably a good thing that this is download only. If it was retail I think it'd be buried under the avalanche of 2010 titles.

The editor was released on Tuesday. Here's the link to the official forum post, which links to the download on Filefront. It's mirrored at several other download sites too.

Wait, you said in this article that the tools will soon be released, but then link to the article which says they already had been released...sorry, that wording really confused me.

I'll make sure to edit that. I was going off this post http://www.torchlightgame.com/gamenews/2009/10/22/level-editor-a-free-separate-download/ which cites the download will be available at a later date.
Thanks.
