Microsoft today announced that it has sold in excess of 10 million Xbox 360 consoles throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The company then touts Aaron Greenberg's favorite chestnut, noting that the Xbox 360 is the only console that has managed to achieve sales growth in 2009. The press release quotes Martin Olausson of Strategy Analytics, who states his belief that Xbox Live is "12 to 18 months" ahead of PSN in regard to delivering "content beyond traditional games."
Microsoft also cites an internal study, which found that 60 percent of Xbox 360 consoles are now housed in a "family living room." Furthermore, the study found that women now account for 35 percent of Xbox owners, and that 64 percent of Xbox owners are over the age of 25.
If that's true, we're guessing that the majority of Xbox Live headset owners make up the remaining 36 percent.

You know, I hardly ever talk to anyone on LIVE or PSN. If I play online it's normally with a friend and we private chat. I have noticed that the GTA 4 LIVE community is pretty cool. You get the occasional glitchers and the morons that shoot you with pistols instead of doing something cool, but overall it's a fun group.

Oh, good.. because that's what I want on my gaming system. Stuff that isn't games.
Funny he didn't say anything about actual games, of which the PSN provides the superior content.

PSN: Fat Princess, Flower, etc.

My work is done.

Darth,
What do you mean? I'd hate to be a grammatically-incorrect personal shopper. Doesn't the ATDF deserve better than that?

Where do people come up with this stuff, what happened to plain old having fun gaming?

Funny...the PS3 was over 10 million in August...
I would think with the massive sales boost from the Slim, Sony is also experiencing growth.
It's nice that Microsoft is selling consoles, but Greenberg is a douche.

Sony starts selling a few million more consoles than Microsoft because of the price cut and the fanboys start talking shit.
Can we just be happy that MS and Sony are doing well?

And no, it hasn't broken the 30 million mark yet.

I'm European you idiot.
And I already knew that Sony was doing better than MS in Europe before the price cut.
What I'm talking about is how fanboys think that because Sony started selling a few million consoles more than MS because of the price cut they think the competition with MS is over.
Now more than ever the competition between MS and Sony is very close and its good to see that they're both selling consoles.

"...'12 to 18 months' ahead of PSN..."
That's supposed to mean something when the Xbox 360 did indeed launch 12 months ahead of the PS3?
Logically, then, that means Live isn't that far ahead...

At this rate, Live will always be ahead of PSN because all Sony does is try to mimic and play catch up with the features that Live introduces, instead of coming up with great stuff the other doesn't have yet.
The only thing they tried to do on their own was Home and....yeah, back to the drawing board there.

I am over 25 (actually just over 30, ugh), and I almost never talk on the mic. In COD I usually just mute everyone so I don't have to listen to the banter. If I could actually find a group of gamers who communicate about what they are doing, where the enemy is, and which way they are going to flank the enemy, I would be thrilled. Either it's constant singing and shit talking, or everyone is quiet during the round, and then everyone sings, farts and/or talks smack in the lobby.

I tried to do that...but now I don't even bother to turn on my headset anymore. People don't want to play the game, they just want to babble.

I only use mic when gaming with mates, otherwise it is off, which is why the argument of whether it is required or not kind of fails in my opinion. I don't make use of it in every game, it just comes in handy from time to time, but I wouldn't say it was the be all and end all of my gaming habits.

It's marketing bullshit. You can't translate it perfectly, but I'd guess Greenberg is smarting over the loss of Netflix exclusivity.
