Final Fantasy XIII launches March 9, 2010 on PS3, 360

Final Fantasy XIII will launch in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010, just a few months after it debuts in Japan and nearly four years after it was originally announced. Since that time, Square Enix's flagship role-playing game has become a multiplatform project -- the English version will debut on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously -- as well as the first part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. It's also no longer the highest-numbered Final Fantasy game.

"We know that our fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installation of the franchise -- FINAL FANTASY XIII will exceed all expectations," said John Yamamoto, president, chief executive officer and official title shouter of Square Enix, Inc. "Coming simultaneously to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for the first time, FINAL FANTASY XIII will be available to all players who are looking for the most immersive gaming experience of 2010."

And you'll have to look -- we hear Q1 2010 is already swamped with immersive gaming experiences. That's not a complaint!

Haha i agree with you i'm sure they will delay it when it almost reaches to that date. They always do with all the other FFs. I really want to play ffvs13 more though but i'm still getting this one.

This release date is a dumb move.
With God of War 3(PS3)and Splinter cell Conviction(Xbox 360) coming out March they are going to have a tough time selling this game when it comes out.
They should change it to April 1st for the fools they are.

Tough time selling a main series Final Fantasy game? I highly doubt it.

Final Fantasy will sell twice as much as those, if anything they should change their release dates.

Tidus wasn't even a ghost, he flat out didn't exist. Biggest troll moment of all time in video games. You play as him through the whole game "Guess what? He never existed. lololololol"

Though I admit I kinda liked Tidus.

If I had both consoles I would get it for PS3 since it looks like is going to be the best stable and most optimize version since it's being made for it first and the 360 is just a port (hopefully not a lazy port).I on the other hand have only a 360 so I'll happily get it for that.

No word on a Special or Collector's Edition? I'm surprised at how soon it is coming out. I figured it would be arriving in May or June.

I dont play RPGs but I know a lot of people are excited about FF XIII and I cant wait to see what success it has overall and what sales it brings to the PS3 in JP.

March is gonna be insane! FFXIII, GoW, GT5, Battlefield BC2, and who knows what else... WOW!!!

dammit squaresoft, Leona Lewis???? I listened to that song and cried on the inside. worst FF song EVER. it reminds me of the travesty of FFX-2 and its terrible pop music.

please for the love of RPG fans everywhere stick to orchestral music.

This is the most exciting announcement of the year for me. It may just be a release date, but FF13 is by far my most anticipated upcoming game.

thats nice, launch at the same time as white knight chronicles and gow 3... they shouldve launched the ps3 version in the na at the same time as the japanese version, its the least they owe us.

glad it finally has a date. i still wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed again but hey it's progress at least. i've curbed my gaming to almost nothing now since i'm trying to graduate college but this is one of those games that i absolutely NEED to have regardless of what is going on with school.

That's what I was asking. I was wondering what's wrong with the original song. Maybe Squenix thinks Western gamers cannot handle a theme song with another language.... oh wait.

Visual style never before seen? What a load of horse shit!! The pristine clean environments are always present in every FF title to date staring from FF VII. They should do away with that CRAP -- since it gives off an uncanny resembles, an artificial look if you will, that's reminiscent of Computer Graphics of old -- and, instead make real worlds, look REAL! Not a pristine clean environment that is flawlessly clean and shiny....

That's my only gripe with this franchise... everything is too new and pristine and the designs and clothing are way too extravagant! LESS IS MORE? And the names, oh god, almighty, the names.... what jokes. Sigh, I guess I'll have to put up with it if I can't change them.
