Don't worry, guys. We're fairly certain that most of those copies are pirated.

Way to stick it to the man guys. At least I managed to hold out till Saturday (tomorrow) to snag a $20 gift card with my purchase at Toys R Us.

The massive Left 4 Dead boycott with over 9000 followers (had about 100,000 members actually) failure was more hilarious. Their leader bailed on them (Walking_Target on Steam) for a free copy of the game lolololol.

If Toys R Us runs out of copies, Amazon brought back their $20 credit.

Theres seems to be more "deals" on games this year than previously. Toys R Us, amazon.com, bestbuy, all doing lots of these discount programs I dont recall them doing before.
Pretty nice.

Not quite the fail you think it is:

The ones with ellipses are playing the multiplayer mode, which is a separate application and shows up on the Steam list independently (As Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer).
There is no demo for the PC version, and I don't think there's a demo for any console.

They took one page out of potentially hundreds and took a screenshot of it, and that means the boycott group all bought it?
It's to be expected that a number of them would buy it anyway - doesn't mean we all did. I didn't, and never will.

Uhhh, no, obviously it just means some of them did.
Also, we all know you really mean you're never going to buy it....until they support dedicated servers.

Yeah, but since I doubt IW will reneg on their douchebaggery, I don't think I'll ever have that opportunity.

Thankfully those who took part in the Boston Tea Party had more resolve in their boycott than these guys, otherwise America would still be a colony of Great Britain.

Not only alternatives, but alternatives with LEAN.

Forza 3 is a damn good alternative. The mp alone will give you hundreds of hours. Not to mention the livery. I want MW2 so bad, yet I've resisted. And I don't even have a pc that I could play it on. I thought they were gonna donate money from every game sold, since that ain't the case, fuck it. There's still many other games out now. Like borderlands.

Hey, I boycotted Overlord II because Overlord: Raising Hell never made it to Steam.
Overlord: Raising Hell was released on Steam yesterday, and put on sale along with Overlord and Overlord II, so I bought the bundle.
Unlike some people, I actually kept my boycott.
I was originally going to boycott L4D2, but I changed my mind on that one (and left the boycott group months ago).

Yes but your boycotts make absolutely no difference in the grand scheme of things. the only people that are boycotting are the few hardcore people that go to these sites. your average person isn't going to give a shit and buy a game if they want to
this is why gamer/internet "boycotts" fail

i just want to point out that the boycott group had 948 members, 396 of which were online, and only 26 of them were playing mw2. so overall, this is a case of a screenshot getting blown out of proportion.

Well, look what we have here. They ended up buying it anyway! My gosh, they're idiotic...COD: MW2 is amazing, but it's definitely not one of the best games ever made like all of these people are saying.

I don't think anyone is saying that MW2 is the greatest game ever made. Just like no one ever says that Halo is the greatest game ever made.

i hate it when people say the greatest game in town is the one that came out most recently. the way it works with a bunch of people is a game is amazing until something else comes along, then nobody bothers to play it.

LOL that's pretty funny. I personally am not picking it up for a multitude of reasons.
The primary one being that I'm just sick of the franchise as a whole. No dedicated servers is pretty bad, but not my ultimate purchasing decision overall (I could have just got the PS3 version).

Exactly, playing MW on a 32v32 man server and then switch to a 6v6 or 9v9??? you kidding me IW?? Thank god I pirated the game and finished the single player mode and uninstalled it. Now its just time to seed the shit out of that torrent and get my ratio up.
