Darksiders dev diary contains your daily recommended dose of epicness
There's a lot to absorb in the latest developer diary for THQ's celestial adventure title, Darksiders: Angels fighting demons, demons fighting horsemen of the apocalypse, horsemen fighting angels, giant worm monsters, the Apocalypse and, best of all, a horse that nearly killed Joystiq's own Kevin Kelly. Basically, we're saying that it's going to be tough to top the video you see above at any point today, as we doubt another video will force one of us to flash back to a moment in our lives where we experienced pure mortal terror.

Joe Mad finally has his dream coming true awesome! (yes I know I'm late on realizing this lol). Now after this if he could just finish Battle Chasers I could die a happy man.
Also going to be buying this.

I think I read somewhere that they've scattered bits of the end to battlechasers throughout the game as easter eggs, but that may be my imagination or that may have changed.
Anti-Villian @ Nov 14th 2009 5:05PM
I'm trying to get into the idea, It looks totally awesome but the art direction just looks like warcraft, which isn't totally bad but not exactly good either.
gst @ Nov 14th 2009 7:28PM
Agreed. But I think it is mostly due to them not going for uber-realism and using bright primary colors in some of the character designs. Every time I see design like that my brain creates an immediate connection to either WoW or TF2.
It might be that some of the character models or textures aren't polished yet , or my eyes are just tricking me because I think "WoW" when I see War. And I got sad when War threw a car at an enemy and it appeared to turn to dust and/or disappear.
But the animations are great, some of those large enemies look awesome, and that horse is dead sexy.

It's the proportions of the main character that does it for me. Literally the #2 reason I refuse to play WoW.
Levi @ Nov 15th 2009 11:12AM
There are definitely plenty of similarities, but I still think it looks miles better than WoW
Rhys.Jones @ Nov 15th 2009 5:11PM
Yeah same, the protagonist looks like a cartoon character, it isn't really congruent with the tone or theme of the game. WoW is somewhat self aware of its sense of satire, and it works. But for Darksiders I would have rathered a better character design.

I cannot freakin' wait for this game!
Anyone else?
Amazon has it for $52.99 with free release date delivery w/ Prime. Heads up!

Every new thing that comes out about this game makes me ever more excited. i think this looks completely fantastic, honestly.
MrAlex @ Nov 14th 2009 6:03PM
I hate the 30 secs wasted at the start of everyone of these repeatedly telling us the games plot background.
That said the game is still cool.
brian @ Nov 14th 2009 6:13PM
hmm, i hadnt really known about this game before, definitely on my radar now
embassy @ Nov 14th 2009 6:23PM
Everytime I see this game it reminds me of Spawn.
Also, was there a Giant Enemy Crab sighting in that vid?
Mu93n @ Nov 14th 2009 9:05PM
ergh!AH!FER! Crab Battle!
colostomeboy @ Nov 14th 2009 6:26PM
i think that this is literally the first game to come out in 2010 (or at least one of the first) i hope that this game succeeds because it looks really good!
CheesePirateAssassin @ Nov 14th 2009 9:08PM
Post-apocalyptic Zelda... do want! This is going to be one of those sleeper gems and the first truly badass game of 2010. Well, this and Divinity II. Vigil will surprise a lot of folks with their first game.
Giroro @ Nov 15th 2009 3:19AM

But how do you really feel?
Levi @ Nov 15th 2009 11:13AM
maybe if you spam comment threads some more, they'll go back and change it
Anemos @ Nov 15th 2009 3:42AM
"You have a horn that you blow that knocks enemies back."
Demo @ Nov 15th 2009 12:17PM
While I can see how the guy kinda might have come from Warcraft, the game looks really great and it will be a day one purchase for me. I am really a sucker for guns+swords.
simblor @ Nov 15th 2009 7:05PM
Looks like Prototype + WoW + Tomb Raider. Not necessarily bad, but I dont know if it's good either.
One to keep an eye on at least.
Lookhappy @ Nov 16th 2009 4:19AM
I'm not yet convinced on this game - looks like it might be very average - the physics looked crappy when he picked up that car. BUT it's still early and I could be very wrong. Fingers crossed as good games are always wanted
SugarDaddy @ Nov 16th 2009 10:02AM
Definitely a rental. Combat will no doubt be worse than Ninja Gaiden or God of War. Graphics are wholly unimpressive. Story is cheesy as hell (heaven vs hell? barf). It looks like they just grabbed elements from other games and slopped them together to make a completely boring and generic title.
Sumgye @ Nov 18th 2009 6:57AM
If less is more, imagine how much more more would be!
*yawn*
It looks entirely forgettable.
