That's something bizzare coming from activision.... i haven't bought a game from them since CoD4. Cuz after CoD and Guitar Hero, they really don't have any other worthwhile franchises.... would chargin premiums for their existing ones really be a good move?

granted i might be the only person alive who didn't buy MW2 so maybe my opinions don't matter much...

Call of duty is popular. But there are 2 issues. The game is not deep enough (no quest bosses, no off-game fun like fishing) and 2, they player base for an RPG is much wider then for an FPS. It wouldn't work. The former is the bigger of the 2 issues.

Ha ha ha ha ha.. I hope companies like Activision go full tilt into this "online business model" and keep selling half finished games in the hope that customers will buy the rest as DLC..(fallout 3 and fable 2 endings come to mind). The more brazen they are the more obvious the dark side to this "miraculous" online gaming becomes, and the faster somebody eles can come along and sell us something worth buying instead of trying to nickle and dime us with micro transactions..

The difference being that Fallout 3 offers you 50-60 hours of gameplay with each playthrough before charging you for DLC. MW2 offers you 5-6. It's not fair to compare them.

If it's in game items and stuff, I simply won't buy them, as they are usually useless anyway. If it goes to a pay to play format for the online portion of the game, so long CoD. I will be done with it forever if I have to pay for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast playing spec ops in MW2 with my buddies, but I will not pay extra for it.

Activision is absolutely evil. I hate them, I hate everything they stand for, and I especially hate Bobby Kotick. That company is bad for gaming, and has lost complete touch with what real gamers want. They only want to release things that will make them a quick buck right away. Then they milk it as long as they can until the figure out something else to screw you with.

I broke down and bought MW2 because Infinity Ward is involved and didn't allow Activision to influence their work on the game at all. But this may be the last Activision game I ever buy. I am so sick of their crap.

People who buy this game are the reason activision can do this stuff. I mean, after their interviews people STILL bought said game. Come on, if you still support what they are doing then you don't deserve to call yourself a gamer. At least Valve still cares about their consumer... Oh wait... left 4 dead 2...

So, where are the DLC/additional fees for this game I just spent $60 on apologists now? You know, the guys who tell you to stop bitching cause no one is forcing you to pay for it.

This is what it means to set a precedent for this launch-day DLC. Anyone else remember when they announced that "Yes, MW2 will have DLC" at E3 and everyone fucking cheered? CHEERED? "OMFGZZZZ YES!!! TAKE MY MONEY! TAKE IT!" I half-expected people to just start throwing their wallets on to the stage.

I'm starting to think here that.... the vast majority of gamers, or people who just got into gaming with the 360 just have no idea what the norm is. They probably think its always been like this... this micro-content/DLC bullshit has been around the whole time and they just go with it.

I can't wait to pay $5 for my in-game pet which can only be used exclusively in Map Pack 3 which costs $15 but I can only use it if I buy Map Packs 1 to 2 $8 each on a game which I'm paying $25/mth for an experience similar to those free 2 play Korean MMOFPS counter-strike clones.

Your comment is spot-on I'm afraid, I fear for the future of gaming, especially console gaming.

RKN console gaming is what caused all this mess reduced quality expectation by dragging enough casual gamers in that they accept whateva is thrown in there face with a nice shiny sticker on it

i still think its ridiculous that people pay for xbox live for a P2P service

and when developers start cutting things out of PC versions because the casual console guys try to transfer but oh noes theres so many options why cant everything be done for me, they essentially have started acting like the bad guy that grabs your ankle while your hanging from a precariously high object

theyll probs get away with this on consoles

PC gamers i dont think so, i said in one of my other posts id be happy to pay for dedicated servers per month but i used to host 2 so i suppose im used to the money going out

Plus then you get into the whole termination date of games because they dont want to "Bifuricate" the community by allowing them choice

(As) If anyone needed proof Activision's number 1 priority was swimming in piles of cash money, let the argument against it be put to rest.

Our first clue was the $60 price tag on a PC game with less features, but here's your proof, fanboys.

fanboys are the worst thing to have happened to gaming.

losers who are willing to pay 60 dollars for anything, then call people "losers" and "whiners" because they refuse to pay for a game that has less features than the first, AND COST MORE.

I'm sorry but I cant get past this word.

My God I hate the up-their-own-asses
people who make up a ridiculous-sounding word
then use it like it makes sense. Really, you people
(you KNOW who you are) need to stop this bullshit.

And here I thought I was just cheap. I'm glad to see so many other gamers pissed with the state of prices in gaming as I am. Have any of you ever thought about how much money you spend on gaming in one year? I know my number is pretty high.

I'm sorry, there's *demand* to pay for this? Acceptance, okay. But demand would mean people refusing to play it were it free.

I call bullshit that anyone would say that paying a monthly fee for COD is an awesome idea. This is PR garbage spin fishing at its finest. These greedy fucks would say anything & sell their mothers or first born for a second mansion with pool or mistress.

For the record, they aren't greedy because they think profit. I think they are greedy because enough is not enough and milking players for little to no true value is greed at its worse. They can't offer shit for COD to justify a monthly fee. Plus how does Microsoft, forget no power game begging Sony, feel about this?

Look, I would grudgingly consent to a monthly fee if they could promise a 100% lag free gaming infrastructure, but they can't so fuck that.
