Soccer (or known as "football" in non-US countries, in other words "the rest of the world") is the #1 sport in the world besides USA.

Surprised by the ps3 spike, specially for a soccer game of all things. They've only got a couple more weeks until FF13 too, so maybe they need something to waste time until then. That would explain buying a sport game where a "high score" is 2-0. :\

At first I misread the article, thinking that Bayonetta was the PS3 game that made it soar. My first reaction was, "So boobs > Pokemon? Maybe Nintendo should start making some more 'mature' Pokemon games."

Not as funny that it's a soccer game, but it is a lot more surprising. I thought Japanese people had some weird kinda fetish for baseball.

You know... a 2-0 in a football (soccer) game is just like a 14-0 in american football.

14-0 is a pretty crappy football game...

14-0 isn't a good game. take the recent colts vs. patriots game. 34-35. colts won. now THAT was a good game.

Yes that was an awesome game to watch, and a shining example of why our football is the best sport in the world....right behind basketball :P

I don't mind real AMERICAN Football...but my team is damn terrible.

Haven't given up yet. But I do have to give props to the Lions fans. They're in pretty much the same boat.

isn't a 2-0 game just like a 100-98* game in basketball?

*note, i have no idea what would be a realistic basketball score, as i've never managed to watch more than 3 minutes of a game without falling asleep. But by that point they seemed to be up to about 25-25.

Baseball on the other hand rocks... it has lots of convenient breaks to get food and drink, and the game doesn't get in the way of that.

I don't think tmacairjordan87 has understand how football (soccer) works, I have watched games where the final score was 0 - 0 and were they totally incredible games.

A football game is not judge by the number of goals scored.

Night Elve is spot on. If how high the score was was a measurement of entertainment, then cricket would be the best sport in the world. And we all know that's not the case.

Both sports can be boring, both can be incredibly exciting. It's a matter of preference, but saying football (soccer) sucks because sometimes nobody scores is just ignorant.

Really do you think that?

Maybe in the US is not that popular / successful, but for the rest of the world it is the most successful & played sport.

But I don't care...

Hockey isn't bad. I haven't really watched a lot of it, so I can't make a judgment. Sounds like it could be interesting.

But soccer is stupid. I'd rather watch golf. GOLF! The most boring game in existance!

So you're saying you would rather watch "the most boring game in existence" rather than soccer? Huh... well to each there own I suppose.

Wait a minute...since when was Pro Evolution Soccer a PS3-exclusive?

Am I missing something?

I'm one of the 48,925 that bought a PS3 that week. I knew PS3 sales would spike for this week, but next week should see things fall back to normal. I went shopping on the weekend and retailers were still promoting the Winning Eleven bundles--and had plenty in stock--so I don't think they sold as much as Sony was hoping for.

...and PES 2010 is not an exclusive, just that everyone got it for PS3. In Japan, the 360 is only for popular American games and exclusive JRPGs. Aside from that, it collects dust in its little corner shelf space in stores (much like how Atari 2600/7800 games used to do way back in the day), next to the clearance items.

Should be the last boost PS3's looking at for about 5 weeks or so

Pretty solid one for an annual franchise, too.

i...just don't get these charts. I'm thinking on the left is how it did last week and the right is how it did this week and the arrow represents if it rose or dropped. But they're all over the place if I follow that logic.
Can anyone explain this thing to me? I

on the left u have the sales for this week.. on the right how much they change....

u need to take or add the amount on the right depending on the arrow to know last week's sales
