@Wardo
Stages of Grief:
1-Denial
2-Anger
3-Bargaining
4-Depression
5-Acceptance

I see you've moved on to stage 2 of the grieving process, impressive since most Nintendo fanboys are still in Denial. Miyamoto is getting old, hopefully you don't go through too much pain before you can accept that.

Oh I'm no Nintendo fanboy, and I can see why some people might think Miyamoto's glory days are behind him.(I'm looking at you Wii Music)

I'm just saying to respect the man that brought us classics which helped save an entire industry, as well as bringing us modern classics like SMG.

Maybe they should make different stars open different levels. Sort of like the key exit in Super Mario World.

'really difficult' for an elderly person with slow reactions times, like Miyamoto, is more in the range of 'incredibly easy' for the twenty somethings that actually care about a game's difficulty.

But maybe they can at least work on making the levels a little more open like Super Mario 64 was.

If this were as difficult as SMBLL, I'd be a happy happy boy. I wish miyamoto would make more games that match the difficulty of the lost levels (the second best 2d Mario game behind Mario world).

I hope they make it with 1-hit death (2-hit with a super mushroom), fire flower, super leaf (raccoon), and up the difficulty vastly from anything yet. 3D games are too damn easy. I want to die, I want game overs, I want to ache for those green 1-ups.

'More likely, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be on par with the first game in terms of challenge'

I hope that you are wrong and the difficulty is knocked up a notch. SMG was just too easy. There were a FEW hard levels after you would have had enough stars to finish the game but not nearly enough.

Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy were both awesome and presented enough of a challenge for me. They were certainly on par w/ the challenge found in Mario 64, SMB 1, SMB 2 USA, and the Gameboy games. Perhaps SMB3 and World got a bit harder near the end, but some people seem to blow that completely out of proportion.

I have no doubt that Galaxy 2 will be well-balanced in terms of difficulty, just like 95% of the rest of the series, and I believe that if Miyamoto says there will be more challenging parts -- especially since they prob used Galaxy 1 to introduce new Wii gamers to 3D Mario -- that they will be upping the challenge a bit for returning players.

As for the haters saying Miyamoto should give it up, even factoring in that Miyamoto is more a producer than a director these days, you do realize that this man recently gave us Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Super Mario Sunshine, LoZ: Wind Waker, Animal Crossing, Wii Sports, LoZ: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports Resort, and NSMB Wii, right? Not to mention his contribution on the DS front or the guidance he gives dozens of 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd party development houses working on Nintendo console games like the Metroid Prime series. Simultaneously developing a few titles like the massively successful and arguably effective Wii Fit or a pet project like Wii Music (which has managed to sell 2.5 million copies mostly at full $50 cost despite being ravaged by the hardcore blogosphere) alongside all the aforementioned gems does not a bad developer make.

Many have said it before, but the day Miyamoto retires is the day I lose most of my interest in videogames.

And Shaggitarius' definition of a "core" gamer versus a casual gamer is rediculous. You don't have to view videogames as some kind of elaborate hobby to be a gamer. I buy and collect games, I play console games when I have a chance, I play DS a couple nights a week before falling to sleep. By his definition I'm probably a casual gamer, and someone who plays madden or ddr an hour every other day is a core gamer. They may put in more hours than me on the same games in and out, but I gurantee you they are highly ranked in Star Soldier R or playing import DS RPGs, etc. etc.

I hope it's not TOO difficult. There's a border line where difficulty and challenge becomes frusterating. As long as they can make the game challenging without losing any fun, then I'm game.

I also hope that some of the more difficult challenges are reserved for completionists with lots of patience - I don't want overly difficult challenges forced on me just to complete the game. I don't have a lot of patience or skill, I just like games that maintain a slow and steady difficulty curve, so the games flow is not effected if I'm not some super elite "nothing-better-to-do" type gamer who can dedicate tons of time and energy into a single game.

I also hate the fact that Joystiq is calling this game a level pack, but not saying the same thing about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. It's a sequel that plays like the original in the same universe. Either they're both level packs, or they're just sequels. I'm not hating on Modern Warfare 2, but lets be honest here, it didn't rewrite anything, it just added stuff, which was a good thing - Nintendo is just doing the same thing. Nintendo should be applauded, because they don't use this strategy enough. If they did, we would see more than one iteration of some of Nintendo's greatest franchises on each subsquent console. Hopefully this is a sign of a new strategy from them.

miyamoto when you come out with super mario galaxy 3 for the boss ending. have it on a planet.then have bowser try to crush mario 3 times then the ground will crack and spurt lava burning bowser. have the player fo this 7 times then have bowser jr come in the 2nd thime bowser is bunedand have him shooting bullet bills at you and every once in a while have bowser breath his fire breath (also make it 2 players so then a player and you can play as mario and luigi when bowser gets burnt 3 time have bowser jr land on the fround and have him attack you with his shell and koopas then for the bowser final knockout have mario throw a giant fireball at him

to make it simple:
1have bowser get burnt 7
2have bowser jr get burned 4 times
3then for the final knockout have mario throw a giant fireball at him

For someone who has not bought/played Super Mario Galaxy should they buy the original or wait until the new release? Additionally, should I buy New Super Mario Brothers Wii (already played DS game, looking for seomthing different) or Super Paper Mario?

Tnahks for any responses

Super Mario Galaxy is a must for anyone with a wii console. Whether you get before or after galaxy 2 depends on when it comes out. If it comes out any later than May, buy it before.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is easily better than Super Paper Mario.

I had a feeling that Miyamoto would be making another one! The first Galaxy was hard to beat (for me, at least, but I'm not the greatest gamer out there like some). I agree - It WILL probably be like Lost Levels and be almost impossible to beat. I guess I will have to use the Classic Controller because if I can barely play Galaxy with the Nintendo Wii Remote ... if #2 is going to "really difficult" then... there's no way I'm going to be able to play one level with the Wii Remote
