Ready to get mah Shaun of the Dead on finally with some melee weapons in Left 4 Dead 2.
I'll wait for a cheap copy of AC2. Ubisoft has let me down far too many times this generation. It's a pity since Beyond Good and Evil is one of my favorite games of all time.
Levi @ Nov 16th 2009 7:01PM
don't forget! L4D2 360 is $35 at Best Buy on Black Friday! Waiting less than two weeks warrants you a savings of $25. Just don't go to Crossgates Best Buy! ^_^
Granger @ Nov 16th 2009 12:26PM
Left 4 Dead 2 and NSMBWii for me. Maybe Assassin's Creed II if there isn't a ridiculously long tutorial/introduction again...
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Nov 16th 2009 12:29PM
Dear Wallet,
I apologize for my recent violations of your personal space. That being said, Tuesday, I will be abducting 120 USD for the purchase of L4D2 and AC2. It should also be noted that the Spring of 2010 does not appear to provide any relief either.
Very truly yours,
Zoot Suit Jedi
PS- Please let MW2 know of the impeding, shared custody of my time.
The_Punisher @ Nov 16th 2009 12:52PM
L4D2 is $35 black friday...
profeteer @ Nov 16th 2009 1:28PM
True, I'm going to try for that one. Plus Amazon has saved my wallet at least 70 bucks this gaming season with the no tax, preorder guarantees, free shippings, and credit towards other game purchases.
korwyn @ Nov 16th 2009 2:34PM
my wallet gave me 2 weeks notice.
it says it's been worked like a slave and cannot take it any longer.
Bobby Kotick - Co-Founder of the ATDF @ Nov 16th 2009 3:11PM
My $120 is going to Tony Hawk: Ride, not that the board could support me...
MowDownJoe @ Nov 16th 2009 3:20PM
$60 on L4D2? Either you're getting ripped off on the PC version, or your ripping yourself off by buying the 360 version.
...I'm sorry, I just can't buy a shooter for my 360 anymore.
Drew -- PS360: uphillbothways @ Nov 16th 2009 4:27PM
"...I'm sorry, I just can't buy a shooter for my 360 anymore."
Must we have this discussion EVERY FUCKING TIME?
samfish [wants to know: do midgets have night vision?] @ Nov 16th 2009 12:29PM
Preeeeeeetty sure EA Sports Active isn't $339.99.
Also, Joystiq snubbed NSMBW for the second week in a row. growl.
AND L4D2. Someone needs to start breaking out the Photoshop more often!
Hmm...I kinda want EA Sports Active. And Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles.
Nothing else looks interesting to me, though. Assassin's Creed was one of the most repetitive games ever, so I can't say I'm interested much in it's sequel.
I can't wait to try out some of the WiiWare demos. I just hope it's easy to go from trying to demo to buying the game, a la XBL. I fear my short attention span won't be kept long enough if I have to quit out of the demo, load up the Shop Channel and rummage through it until I find the game I want.
...bad enough I'll already have to re-enter my credit card for like the billionth time.
Markez @ Nov 16th 2009 12:32PM
That's a rather understated growl there, pal. I'm trying to persuade one of my buddies to get it, should make for some rad multiplayer.
Hells yes on the WiiWare demoes. Can't wait to try some of those.
Mr. Fister @ Nov 16th 2009 10:06PM
If you haven't found out already, once you finish a WiiWare demo, it will take you straight to the game's page on the Wii Shop Channel so you can decided whether or not you want to buy it.
Mr. Fister @ Nov 16th 2009 10:08PM

My proofreading skills are failing me today.
Old Professor Zertoss @ Nov 16th 2009 12:30PM
Finally time for some L4D2! Can't wait to listen to everyone online calling me all sorts of things when they find out I'm mediocre at best!
Don't know when I'll find the time to play AC2 and NSMBW.
rkrocks123 @ Nov 19th 2009 2:02AM
Your avatar adds quite a bit of depth to you post...
Traceur_Ryuk [Founder of The Anti-EMCB(tm) and co-leader of ATDF] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Nov 16th 2009 12:33PM
This had the potential to be the most epic year of all time if everything wouldn't have gotten pushed back to Q1.
Traceur_Ryuk [Founder of The Anti-EMCB(tm) and co-leader of ATDF] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Nov 16th 2009 12:38PM
Well, not the best of all time. But still pretty good.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 16th 2009 1:29PM
I don't know if any era will beat the massive releases in 2007, but this year could have come close.
aang1818 @ Nov 16th 2009 12:34PM
Man there is nothing good for Wii this week.
Certainly nothing worth buying. Except maybe Indiana Jones 2.
Donald @ Nov 16th 2009 1:10PM
So you already bought Mario? How is it, then?
aang1818 @ Nov 16th 2009 3:12PM
Well one word comes to mind when describing it: rehash.
There really is no reason that this game shouldn't have been a wiiware dl or a DS game. Even more unforgivable is the lack of any online options whatsoever. As for the supposed difficulty, the hardest levels are no harder than the average SMW level, so I expect most people here can beat the whole thing without ever running out of lives.
So in short it's one of the laziest attempts Nintendo has ever spit out, and frankly it's an insult to the fans.
GewurztraminerX @ Nov 16th 2009 3:31PM
You see a rehash, I see an update for a new generation of gamers who never played the NES or SNES games; and for the nostalgic ones that actually enjoy a little bit of sameness in their new games.
aang1818 @ Nov 16th 2009 3:53PM
Being a rehash isn't necessarily a bad thing. I have no problem with that.
What I have a problem with is how little effort went into making the game, which is why I called it a rehash in the first place. If nothing else the lack of online options is a testament to this. IGN editor Craig Harris said it best when he said, "In this generation it's extremely difficult to accept that a high profile game with a multiplayer focus completely dismisses any sort of online. This is aimed squarely at Nintendo and all the fanboys defending its decision: make any excuse you want, but any other first party publisher on any other current generation system would have ensured that a game as high a caliber as New Super Mario Bros Wii would have put focus on getting the game online. The fact that this game totally shuns online completely shows Wii owners just how unimportant internet play is to the company. Or rather, it continues to show how ignorant Nintendo is to the online demand."
So yeah, that's why it's a rehash in the bad sense.
Granger @ Nov 16th 2009 4:30PM
So the multiplayer isn't online... This game is sooooooooo much more fun in Single-Player or just pass the controller (wish they would have had turn-based multiplayer like the old games). Also... there are supposedly 80ish levels! All the ones I've played so far have been fun, and the level design is certainly better than that of NSMB on DS. Only thing the game needs is Classic Controller support so I don't have to use the tiny Wii Remote D-pad and flick it when I could just as easily press L R or X to spin jump.
sam @ Nov 16th 2009 6:01PM
Two good games for Wii this week: NSMB and Darkside Chronicles. Sure, maybe you aren't interested in either one, but they're both decent games (more than decent in the case of NSMB).
I'm a little worried about Darkside Chronicles, which I'm getting: not that it won't be good, but that everyone's hating on the 'nauseous' camera - occasionally, games genuinely do make me sick so I can only play for very short periods... hopefully this one won't be in that category.
(And I'm not getting NSMB, at least not yet - I'm sure it is fantastic, but I still didn't get around to finishing the DS one... and anyway one game is enough for the next few weeks. Maybe I'll change my mind later.)
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 16th 2009 12:35PM
Last decent week until christmas when I'll finally be able to play all those wii games I have.
Just AC2 (360) and God of War Collection for me, should be good games to play in between MW2.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] ATDFs Financier and Batman @ Nov 16th 2009 1:00PM
yeah seems like the tipping point right here. For the 360 at least, the only games left until 2010 that seem like they have a chance at being good are Jame's Cameron's Avatar and Saboteur
Robert @ Nov 16th 2009 1:26PM
That Avatar demo looked terrible tho!
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 16th 2009 3:47PM
Saboteur could be a sleeper hit and Rogue Warrior (Bethesda) could also be a decent game if it incorporates the same mechanics as Fallout 3 & Oblivion. I won't be buying either though unless they get some serious praise with all the games coming out shortly after.
I kind of agree that it's slim pickings between the end of this week and January. I know that the first 4 months of 2010 will be perhaps the best in the history of gaming. I know for sure I'm getting Final Fantasy 13, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, Bad Company 2, Modnation Racers, White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian, God Of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, dead rising 2 and yes ... eye pet.
Iffy on Bioshock 2, Dantes Inferno, Bayonetta, Dark Void, Lost Planet 2, Dead To rights, MAG, Just Cause 2, Resonance of fate, crysis 2, alpha protocol, rage, EA's MMA and Nier.
I'll be picking between MAG and Bad Company 2 and though I think MAG is good based on the Beta I'm already leaning towards Bad Company 2 just based off how much I loved the first one.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] ATDFs Financier and Batman @ Nov 16th 2009 3:59PM
from what i've seen, read, and heard, Rogue Warrior is the most generic piece of shit you could ever play.
Obie @ Nov 16th 2009 11:53PM
@Wayne: I'm excited as hell for the Avatar movie, the game...not so much.
Dirty @ Nov 16th 2009 12:39PM
I haven't seen a single commercial for Tony Hawk. Seems odd.
XBL: xGeneral DEATHx PSN: Deeth82 [Planeteer | Power of General Hostility and Angst] @ Nov 17th 2009 4:39PM
But have you seen mah bukkit?
MystileArmor @ Nov 16th 2009 12:40PM
Can't wait to see that Tony Hawk crap fail misserably. I usually don't take pleasures in the failures of any new concepts in the video game industry, but Bobby Kotick makes it too easy to hate his stupid ass and anything associated with it. Also, Skate has proved you don't need gimmicks, just solid gameplay.
The only positive thing about this is the potential of Youtube videos where people kickflip the coffeetable in 489 pieces.
Duke @ Nov 16th 2009 3:24PM
That game went right past me when I read the lists. On Saturday when I was at a BB I saw they had the board on an endcap and walked by without thinking. Now I am wondering if they accidentally broke the street date or if it was a demo. That being said, I have absolutely no interest in the game beyond mild curiosity.
waynski1457 @ Nov 16th 2009 12:41PM
I only rented AC1 because, while I had no problems with the game at all (aside from a couple of bugged flags and templars keeping me from 1000ing it), there was no replay value in it. I feel like it will be the same thing for AC2.
I will be picking up L4D2 tonite (didn't get it over the weekend). Me and my friends will probably have it complete on Advanced by this time tomorrow. All signs point to awesome and win.
Katana Master @ Nov 16th 2009 12:43PM
Hey guys when does AC2 come out in the UK? Amazon says 20th but here it says tomorrow...
Eweor @ Nov 16th 2009 4:33PM
This is a US site so only gives the US date, we will have to wait till friday to pick it up
Dreaded Fear @ Nov 16th 2009 12:46PM
Much more MW2 (Spec ops and Multiplayer). Already have Left 4 Dead 2 pre-ordered, and I am definitely excited. Doing the "rental" deal for Assasins Creed 2 (pre-order and return in a week to get full refund) so there is going to be a lot of that Also going through Mass Effect to make a playthrough I will want to transfer over to ME2.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Nov 16th 2009 12:46PM
I've just finished Prof Layton (albeit Curious Village) so I need some new gaming, but NSMBWii will not be for another month. Hmm.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] ATDFs Financier and Batman @ Nov 16th 2009 12:55PM
Auuuggggh! I cant wait to decapitate zombies with blues guitars! Stabbing ancient italian people will be fun too but not as much as taking off 3 zombie heads with one swing of a machete from uncle phil!
baby sea tuna @ Nov 16th 2009 12:59PM
Don't you mean Emerson Cod?
baby sea tuna @ Nov 16th 2009 1:04PM
Or is it Big Mike?
GewurztraminerX @ Nov 16th 2009 1:48PM
@ baby sea tuna:
hah, I'm actually renting Pushing Daisies from Netflix right now. Wish they never cancelled that show.
On the down side, I dreamt I was covered in bees last night (a la the Season 2 opener)
baby sea tuna @ Nov 16th 2009 12:58PM
If Dragon Age and MW2 weren't the drugs that they are, I'd probably consider buying AC2. It sure does look awesome.
Duke @ Nov 16th 2009 3:25PM
I can't justify anymore games right now. I want AC2 and L4D2, but I still have yet to finish Dragon Age, Borderlands and MW2, and I think my wife would kill me in my sleep if I got anymore to sit on the shelf.
Space @ Nov 16th 2009 3:34PM
Borderlands has taken over my life. I think they made that game solely for me.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 16th 2009 3:36PM
Oh shit, I completely forgot about Borderlands. And Brutal Legend.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] ATDFs Financier and Batman @ Nov 16th 2009 4:01PM
shit i forgot about Borderlands too! I guess crime rates in gotham are gonna have to go up a bit
