Rumor: Splinter Cell: Conviction demo voucher in Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed II

Look, Sam Fisher is a master of espionage, so it's entirely believable the man could sneak his way into the packaging of Assassin's Creed II this week. Heck, now that his daughter is gone, he's thrown the rulebook out the window and part of his new anything-goes persona could very well be to synergize like he's never done before. Thus, this rumor that all copies of Assassin's Creed II on Xbox 360 will come with a download voucher for a Splinter Cell: Conviction demo.

One user over at NeoGAF claims a copy of Assassin's Creed II on Xbox 360 came with said insert, while further evidence from HipHopGamer shows what appears to be the alleged insert (it's since been removed from the original video; but Kouppa-Network Live still has it up). Logic points to the demo being the same portion of gameplay we checked out back at E3, though there's no evidence to verify that.

We've contacted Ubisoft for comment and will update this post when we hear back.

Erm...I believe his name is Ezio Auditore di Firenze. Altaïr was the character from the first game.

I gots my AC2 pre-order already. Tomorrow at 8AM I can go pick it up. I was torn between the PS3 and 360 version(PSP tie-in with Bloodlines and all) but I went with the 360 version in the end anyways.

This makes me quite happy.

I'm really hoping it's true, cause it would be a nice little extra for buying the 360 version and a demo to go along with god of war 3 from the collection. Tomorrow will be a busy day.

Why would it anyway? Not trolling, serious. Is there anything particularly better about the PS3 version? I'm getting it on 360 because I still have the LE of the first one and they'll look nice together.

And nearly all the advertisements have headlined the PS3 version.

And it's got connectivity with Bloodlines.

The few AC2 commercials I've seen are PS3-specific, for some reason.

I haven't seen any commercials for it, but that is odd. I don't really give a crap about Bloodlines, though.

Ah crap. Just pre-ordered Left for Dead 2 over Assassin's Creed 2. Took a while to decide which one I wanted more. If this is true, I will be gutted.

Solution: don't fucking pre-order games unless there's some great little pack-in. I'm reasonably sure (read: positive) that you'll be able to find this on Tuesday (or Wednesday, or Thursday, or Friday) without any trouble.

I never understood pre-ordering the "big" titles. There are always copies whenever I walk into the large chains (Best Buy, Futureshop, etc.) on scheduled release day. And there always seem to be an abundance of the "limited" special editions. Just today, I saw a stack of the "goggle" versions of MW2, Batarang 360 versions of AA and the Halo 3 Helmet editions at my next door Futureshop.

I pre-order games so i don't have to go to the shop on launch day - it gets delivered to my door soon after i wake up (sometimes a day or two earlier).

Where I live, Gamestop doesn't get but maybe 1 or 2 copies of a game UNLESS it's preordered. They got 10 copies of Dragon Age, 8 of them were preorders. If I don't preorder, I run the chance of never getting the game unless I buy off of eBay.

And we don't have any local Circuit City, Best Buy, Toys 'R Us or any of those other stores to buy games from. Gamestop and Wal-Mart are the only places in my city that sell games, period.

I ordered the PS3 collectors edition. . . God Damnit.

I find myself placed with a dilemma now. I preordered the PS3 version because of the compatability with the PSP, and now I hear about this. Do I try and switch to the 360 version, or do I just say screw it and hope for a demo on Live in a couple of months. I really wish I had known about this sooner so that I could've made a better purchase decision.

You keep your PS3 reservation, of course.

The Demo will be up on live eventually, and you get to keep connectivity with the PSP game.

I work at EB Games and we have those vouchers... not for the Splinter cell demo. It's just got a code for some extra content on the Splinter Cell website. Sorry to disappoint.
