BioShock 2 cover is familiar, absolutely filthy

Not to be overshadowed by BioWare's latest effort to depict Mass Effect 2 in one epic cover, 2K Games has released the box art for BioShock 2 -- and it doesn't win any points for originality or cleanliness. Just like the first game's cover, it features Big Daddy (this time he's you!) and Little Sister (not you). Only now, everything's behind cracked, grimy glass and the logo's covered in barnacles. Eww.

You can lay your eyes on high-res versions of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC covers for the sequel in the gallery below. You might want to put on some rubber gloves and grab a can of Scrubbing Bubbles before you click on 'em, though.

i REALLY don't like the new PS3 logo. i loved the spidey font one on the side. this just looks tacky.

I think it looks better...the thing is, I have like 20 other games that have the original design, and it just looks out of place and inconsistent.
It's too bad Sony took so long to get everything right.

Well, I guess Sony thinks it looks better, and honestly with the new PS3 logo, the vertical orientation wouldn't really fit all that much.

(I liked the old one better too.)

It doesn't match, that's the worst part.

I'm glad spidey font is gone. It wasn't anything special, and particularly annoying when Sony wrote PLAYSTATION®3 everywhere (they're not SEGA, i don't need it screamed at me). Not sure why they changed it in the first place, since the brand didn't really need a refresh after dominating in the previous generation. It does suck that the older games don't match, but at least they're not changing the case sizes like the PS1 did.

still, it's annoying that all my games (including my hardened edition of MW2) have the old logo, except for ONE which is uncharted 2. it just annoys me every time i see it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it must be their cover art philosophy and I'm cool with that :)

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out....but this does appear to be some fairly elaborate spam, doesn't it? I mean it's good effort spam--it tries to make relevant-looking comments in a bunch of threads--but it's still linking to a dating site.

If you google her you get some other sites that she joined in mid-October, and Twitter and Flickr accounts that also go back to October. It's at least a well-designed spam campaign.

I agree Darth, I was so pissed when I realized that I couldn't just STOLEN the bloody copy from Best Buy, had I merely torn off the plastic sheeting.

I understand the whole move toward being ecologically correct, but the MW2 packing felt so, so incredibly cheap. There's virtually no back to the plastic and it feels like the disc is being held in place by next to nothing.

This and Brutal Legend too. Where's my "Okay, I can barely get the game out without cracking the disk" case-crispness?

Its a bad cover IMO. If I went to the store looking at games on the shelves I would not even realize that that was the sequel to the first. The only thing that tells me that it is a sequel is the almost unnoticeable 2 in the logo.

I think this box art will confuse people the same way that the old MW2 logo confused people into thinking that it was not a COD game.

For that "ease of use and convenience" aka dealing with a slow interface, awkward patching system, waiting for the game to load then GFW to load then finally logging INTO GFW before finally managing to play your fucking game.

That 2 looks limp and apologetic. Much like I expect the game to be.

to visually complicated, but the idea was good.

You now realise that the Prototype Big Daddy looks like he has Bomberman eyes.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought so. It looks comical.
