Left 4 Dead 2 delayed in UK, due 'by Friday morning'

We'd usually say it's a good thing when a zombie invasion gets postponed, but not when we're talking about Left 4 Dead 2 releasing in the UK a couple days after the rest of the world. According to Valve's own L4D2 blog, "copies of the game are still arriving" across the pond, with assurances from the developer that it will "have everyone in the UK playing Left 4 Dead 2 by Friday morning." Wait -- everyone in the UK? Whoa now guys!

While Xbox 360 owners and PC gamers who still buy physical copies of software are out of luck, Valve says that everyone in the region who pre-ordered L4D2 via Steam can play it right now. Of course, those left waiting can pretend they're fighting to survive the scariest of all Left 4 Dead campaigns: "Delay of Game" (tagline: "Patience never killed anyone -- until now!").

Read the whole sentence like I suggested and maybe you would not come off as a mentally challenged twit.

It is clearly saying that people who bought the game on Steam (Valves service for online games, of which they distribute digitally) can play right now. There is no play on piracy, there was nothing about piracy implied. It is talking about store bought games VS. games you can buy off Steam.

I would have liked to know the number of Physical vs. Digital (steam) pre-orders....
but I still think a couple of days of delay is no worth the fuss of calculating the numbers so ......

I have it right now even though it's practically unplayable online right now thanks to the abysmal 300+ ping servers so you're not missing much.

"Glad" to see I wasn't the only 1 with this issue. Me and my friend resorted to a private server which worked great since we all live very close to one another. So I'd advise other people to do this if you're playing with friends who aren't a million miles apart.

Valve weren't saying it has been delayed. What they were actually saying is that they've moved release dates forward to Tuesday, and they haven't in the UK where it'll remain as Friday. Our release date for L4D2 was always dated for Friday. I'm not at all bothered either, after all, it's the day of the week we always get our games. Just the way our games market works.

Yeh.. not sure why this is news.. L4D2's release date has always been Friday in the UK. Just like every other game release (excluding some super special launches, like MW2), and the Americans get it on the Tuesday.

Just like Assassin's Creed 2. Out today in the US, friday here.

I would be stoked with my pre-ordered-on-steam PC version if it weren't buggy-as-hell I have to turn the gore off in order to play. It's like being Australian! (if you're from NZ you will know how awful that coule be).

This time yesterday I was contemplating whether pre-ordering this was the right decision. Now I am so glad that I did. Games already been dispatched and I should have it tomorrow

It came out early for me so I didn't get a chance to preorder. I'll wait till it's cheaper now. The free stuff and discount was the only reason I wanted to buy it from release.

For a second there I thought it might delay my import from the UK but then I remembered that they always had a Nov 20th release date. How is this news? What the hell are Valve playing at now?

Interesting fact: games typically come out on a Friday in the UK anyway.

The retailer I pre-ordered from now says it will be delivered on the 23rd and this affects all continental Europe. What the hell?
