Nintendo not done with Metroid Prime series
You may have completed Metroid Prime Trilogy and begun to enter Full Excitement Mode™ for next year's Metroid Other M, but there could be even more Metroid in store under Prime's banner of first-person action. Nintendo's Kensuke Tanabe, who oversaw development on the Prime games for Nintendo at Retro Studios, recently told ONM that Nintendo is "always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series."
Tanabe didn't speak of a continuation on Wii, but noted that depending "on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of realising it on DS or DSi." Though Retro hasn't isolated itself from the franchise, we know Nintendo isn't shy about sharing Samus with external developers. Just don't call it "Metroid Dread," guys. Bad memories.

Cool, instant buy from me. There's a whole universe there to explore - ideas should not be running low.
Monica Dickey @ Nov 17th 2009 6:28PM
Really. I can't think of any reason they would end the Metroid series.
Although I could go for a new side scrolling addition to the series.
TonyTheTiger831 @ Nov 17th 2009 8:18PM
I actually hope they make an Online metroid game. I like Hunters but because of hackers it went really down hill. If they could dedicate themselves to the online of it then it would be really nice.
Honestly to those who would say that focusing on Online would ruin the single player you really got ask yourself how good the story even is in the first place.
Chalky @ Nov 21st 2009 5:58AM
In all honesty I hated Hunters.
That's all I have to say. Single player and multi player both.
I had fun with virtually every other metroid game there is, but not this one.
I'd actually like to see the Metroid Prime 2 multiplayer fleshed out.
I was disappointed it didn't make an appearance as online multi player for trilogy.
Special Agent Steve @ Nov 17th 2009 5:46PM
They better not fucking be. If Nintendo canceled Metroid.... oh boy.
Space @ Nov 17th 2009 5:50PM
don't worry it's nintendo, they'll be making mario, metroid, and zelda games ofr the next 100 years...
TwEE @ Nov 17th 2009 6:01PM
If there was never another prime game, that dose not mean there would be no real Metroid games, you know that right?
Special Agent Steve @ Nov 17th 2009 6:30PM
But it wouldn't be the same.
Mr Khan @ Nov 17th 2009 6:47PM
And they'll be a lot fresher in a 100 years than most franchises are by age 10
Space @ Nov 17th 2009 8:47PM
@Mr Khan
I can only hope that is the case, because I'm bored to death of mario, zelda, and metroid after 20 years
TwEE @ Nov 17th 2009 9:19PM
Well then space, you're in luck. Call of duty 15 just came out.

DS2 launch title?
[this time baby Tre'll be bulletproof] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Nov 17th 2009 5:47PM
*sigh*
If there's gonna be another one, guess I might have to make my parents pony up the cash and buy the trilogy.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 17th 2009 5:50PM
Buy the first two for the Gamecube. I think 1 is only seven dollars on average. Then, if you like em, buy Corruption or the trilogy.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 17th 2009 5:50PM
This was meant for Tre, but he's got an apostrophe in his name. Not a reply fail on my part.

Oops, ur skrewed al rite.
Nook @ Nov 17th 2009 5:58PM
hardly screwed, the controls in Trilogy outstrip the original by FAR.
Trilogy is well worth the money.
Blank-Mage (ATDFs Nuker) @ Nov 17th 2009 6:02PM
I'm glad I fixed MY proper grammar issues!
Brysonial the Bison @ Nov 17th 2009 5:52PM
I guess that this is another one of those trilogies thats really not a trilogy but, with metroid prime thats not a bad thing.
[Tre got rid of the apostrophe] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Nov 17th 2009 5:57PM
H2G2 syndrome (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy syndrome) at work.

TwEE @ Nov 17th 2009 5:54PM
Boo!! I wish they were done.
TwEE @ Nov 17th 2009 5:59PM
That is to say I want more traditional Metroid bad, (super metroid is one of the greatest games of all time).. Not another prime game.
The prime games were great, but Im burnt out on them, the thought of another 20 hours of scanning junk sounds like work to me.. Also the prime games are prequels, I want to play future Samus quests please.
CloudStrife @ Nov 17th 2009 5:55PM
Cool, I guess. The Prime trilogy was amazing and all. I just hope that this continuation actually has a purpose and they're not just doing it for the sake of it. I personally would also like to see what Retro can do outside of the Metroid franchise.

Geez, go mow some yards or something...
WREturns [Planeteer I Power of The Final Countdown] Personal Shopper of the ATDF @ Nov 17th 2009 5:57PM
Meant as a reply to Tre.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 17th 2009 5:58PM
The apostrophe strikes again.
And I think he'd make more raking leaves this time of year.
[Tre got rid of the apostrophe] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Nov 17th 2009 5:59PM
But I have a history with lawn mowers. (It is sad and too violent to post here. :'C)
charlie b. @ Nov 17th 2009 5:58PM
Metroid Prime is great and all, but I think i speak for a lot of gamers when I say we want a 2-D Metroid 5.
Chalky @ Nov 21st 2009 6:04AM
You certainly speak for this one....
Even if it has to be an on rails metroid game like fusion...
Just make a 2D metroid....
Or even a 3D2D metroid, much like New Super Mario Bros...
New Super Metroid? Ugh, sounds terribad....
ThorSkaagi @ Nov 17th 2009 5:58PM
First!

lol. I'm not the one who sticks a 'Darth' in front of my name, thinking I'm in Star Wars.
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 17th 2009 6:08PM
No, you put 'Thor' in an attempt to be seen as 'badass'.
It isn't working.
WREturns [Planeteer I Power of The Final Countdown] Personal Shopper of the ATDF @ Nov 17th 2009 6:10PM
Yeah, thinking you're a Norse god is waaaaayy less pathetic...
ThorSkaagi @ Nov 17th 2009 6:23PM
Thor is my middle name dude...
Darth Bradwart, The Dark Lord of the Sith-ATDF Co-Founder @ Nov 17th 2009 6:38PM

charlie b. @ Nov 17th 2009 5:59PM
I realise it's a harsh economy, but seriously? asking your parents to give you money for VIDEO GAMES? don't you think that's just a little bit sad?
charlie b. @ Nov 17th 2009 6:01PM
i don't think the comment system wants anyone to respond to [this time baby Tre'll be bulletproof].

Metroid: Other FEM
Full Excitement Mode
Mr Khan @ Nov 17th 2009 6:49PM
As long as Retro's next product is something different
But it's hard to imagine all these Metroid games, given that it was a franchise Nintendo left behind for an entire generation once
PN04 @ Nov 17th 2009 7:05PM
Meh, they ruined Metroid for me when it went first person. I bought the first two on gamecube but when they're put the third on a system I had no interest in buying that completely ended my involvement. See ya Samus, I guess I wont get to see how Team Ninja manages to make boobs bounce in armor.
CheeziePotato @ Nov 17th 2009 9:43PM
You didn't like Metroid Prime?
Something is wrong with you.
Chalky @ Nov 21st 2009 6:08AM
Hey, I'm a fan of the original 2D metroids.... and I liked the Prime games...
I know I know... but stop gasping, you need oxygen to live.
It was pretty much the only way Metroid was going to make a successful translation.
Just be glad the original Metroid Prime didn't end up playing like Hunters.
