You may have completed Metroid Prime Trilogy and begun to enter Full Excitement Mode™ for next year's Metroid Other M, but there could be even more Metroid in store under Prime's banner of first-person action. Nintendo's Kensuke Tanabe, who oversaw development on the Prime games for Nintendo at Retro Studios, recently told ONM that Nintendo is "always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series."
Tanabe didn't speak of a continuation on Wii, but noted that depending "on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of realising it on DS or DSi." Though Retro hasn't isolated itself from the franchise, we know Nintendo isn't shy about sharing Samus with external developers. Just don't call it "Metroid Dread," guys. Bad memories.

Nintendo wouldn't get rid of Metroid because Nintendo likes money. Or at least last time I checked.

Well if that were 100% true, then they wouldn't make anymore Metroid Prime games cause they don't sell very well (at least 3 didn't).

It's obviously going to be a Metroid Prime HUnters 2 for Wii. It was heavily teased to us already.

Meh. I'd rather have a game like Other M instead. I don't like the Prime games at all.
Actually, what I REALLY want is a Metroid game that plays similar to Resident Evil 4. Third person, slow moving with fantastic, moody visuals and over the shoulder aiming.

name a nintendo franchise they Are done with. As long as fanboys keep dropping the jaws (and cash), you can expect to see a new Mario, metroid, and zelda every few years. The launch of a new Nintendo console practically demands that at least one of these three be in attendance.

"Nintendo not done with Metroid Prime series"
Not surprising, as Nintendo is never done with its franchises.

Well, considering the Metroid Prime games are among the best games ever made, this news really isn't a surprise. I just hope and pray that they don't make a sequel on the DS or DSi. Those two platforms just aren't well suited for the kind of "long term" play you need to enjoy these types of games. I couldn't get into Metroid: Hunters for this same reason, I just can't get comfortable playing for long lengths on the DS. I think I actually played Metroid Pinball more than Hunters because of this reason.
I think Nintendo wanted to see how the Trilogy set would sell, and if it met their expectations, they'd move on to a 4th one, hopefully for the Wii, with similar controls.
Just like we have a "3D" Mario Galaxy series, we also have a "side scrolling" New Super Mario Bros series (and hopefully, this most recent release isn't the last on the Wii!). Same can apply to Metroid - have a "side scrolling" series (Other M) and continue with a First Person "Prime" series. And if they must make a DS Metroid, I think side scrolling would be best suited (I did enjoy the GBA Metroid games, even if I didn't enjoy the fact I had to play them on my Gameboy).

What the hell are you on about? The only reason retro ever made a 2nd Prime was because the first sold extremely well so Nintendo insisted they make more.
The others didn't sell as well but they still sold fuckloads.
