maybe they need their games to star nintendo characters just like EA sports did a while back with their games just like NBA Street vol.3 and SSX

I have to disagree with you there Reggie. Games like Borderlands & Prototype have sold well, and spent about the same on advertising as other good (and decent in the case of Prototype) games on the wii like the Conduit. I remember at one point I'd see sometimes two ads a commercial break for the Conduit.

It's time to put this argument to rest. There is NO hardcore audience on the Wii, period. That that exists are the remaining Nintendo fanboys who don't care about any game that isn't made by Nintendo. Nintendo has driven away this portion of their fanbase to a achieve a huge financial success, so good for them I suppose, bad for any developer who got into game development for the love of games as entertainment.

I'd like to go back to Reggie's "Blue Ocean Strategy" and add a caveat. I don't remember if the analogy was about fishing, but I like to fish so here goes.. Lets say that companies are fighting for fish (consumers) at a point in the ocean until the waters run with blood and virtually no fisherman can get enough to be successful. You can go out to a point further in the ocean that is untapped and have all these fish to yourself.

One problem though, they aren't the same fish. The old ones are still back in the red ocean, and the new fish may not be interested in the same bait as the old ones. Point being, Nintendo can be wildly successful with it's new casual crowd, but there comes a point when Nintendo needs to recognize it won't be catching much Salmon when it's fishing for tuna.

Well, gee, as a "hardcore" gamer and Nintendo fan who plays on six different systems, I feel a little insulted by the insinuation that I don't exist.

"It would appear then that Boom Blox, The Conduit, No More Heroes, and a mess of other third-party titles, had some truly ineffective marketing by Reggie's standards."

... Huh? What? These had ANY marketing? Sure, they were being hyped by gamers, but I've never seen an advertisement for any of them.

As much as people keep battling back and forth claiming that the 360/PS3 simply is the better one due to the type of games in them: I still choose my Wii, seeing that I have more games for the Wii than I do the 360/PS3.

...I don't really care for CoD games, I simply don't like those type of FPS games (and I'm claimed as a heathen for doing so). I don't play Hero/Band games (also claimed as a heathen). And I only really need one racing game per every other year.
Hence, I don't have much games for the 360/PS3.

...the Wii certainly is lacking in quality 3rd party games, but the concepts in them definitely are great. I think the 3rd parties for the Wii (that aren't just minigames or kids-only) have a chance at being great, but it just feels like the 3rd parties stop trying halfway through the game so that they know they get some profit if they bomb in sales (less money to make, more money when sold).
It has nothing to do with the Wii's capabilities. Nintendo's shown that the Wii can push its capabilities to be a top-standard game for all systems (graphics don't have to be perfect, but definitely worth looking at).

Heck, so much 3rd party games fall short for the Wii, but I buy them since there's some hope in it. Encouraging the devs to give it another shot.

Spray could have been so much better if they polished the graphics and camera a bit more and made it a bit more complex (possibly inventory). deBlob is an amazing game, but I think its full price was a bit much for something that you could stop playing and forget within a few days (plus, the multiplayer could've used more polish and thinking). MySims games have a lot of potential, MySims Kingdom being the only one I've played so far that deserves to be bought by everyone (who are interested in that type of gaming, that is). Castlevania Judgement had a lot of potential, and it's pretty good for a cheap price, but could've used more polish here and there. Heck, even YuGiOh 5Ds had a lot more potential if they just worked on it more (just as disappointing as that Gamecube ZOIDS game, great potential, fell short). Tenchu was utter disappointment, if they really wanted an arcade feel they could've at least gave it some effort on gameplay and controls. And Munchables is hard to find, and even then, there's not much challenge to it, but great design nonetheless.

Fact is, there's tons of games on the Wii that are pretty darn good, but are always missing a big factor that would make it a perfect game worth its price.

But heck, that doesn't mean there aren't any worthwhile games on there.
Grab yourself a copy of Rune Factory and Little King's Story. Both great games that I'm not sure why nobody's bought yet.

...I'm behind on my Wii games though, I'm sure there are other great concepts out there I haven't tried yet.
For the most part, a lot of the good games for the Wii are practically experimental. And since no one's buying it, no one's funding the "research".
Most people don't want to spend money on experiments.
Perhaps 3rd parties should just lower their prices if they don't feel their games are truly complete.

These predictions, which are some of the most educated and well-thought out predictions I've ever seen on the internet. Beware, it's pretty dang long.

Keep up the lack of third party sales. In less than a year after release I can get any MA/T game for $20. Madworld, HoD Overkill, Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes, etc. That's awsome. Why should I preorder or buy day-one? I figure by summer I can pick up DS Extraction and Little King's Story for $20 as well. The best thing is: with such a huge install base developers will keep trying new concepts on Wii. I enjoy my PS3, but the most creative games are on Wii. No other system could do Boom Blox (with online sharing!). And you only have one system to choose from if you want a light gun style game. I'm happy letting PS360 get a new FPS every Tuesday. I would prefer a Wii FPS with PS360 features, but I'm still playing W@W a year later. I'll pass MW2 and get MW:R once it goes on sale.
For me, Nintendo is the one dropping the ball concerning Wii game developement. Besides Super Mario Galaxy, what core franchise has taken risks on Wii? Zelda is basically a GC port, Metroid was third in a series, and Punchout has mostly reused characters. There're all great games, just to much like their previous versions, though. Kudos to SSBB and Mario Kart for the online capability. So why no online love for New Super Mario Bros.? Seems like a step backwards. I think I'm done ranting.

I understand what your asking, but I've done that. I preordered Madworld and The Conduit. Both $50 each. Now I could get both for $50 total. I have a family and other more important expenses. I plan on getting New Super Mario Bros. and Modern Warfare Reflex, but used. I see it as a way to save money and get the games I want. If Gamestop does B2G1 then I'll get DeadSpace or Little King's Story as well. I do not support the shovelware and never will. I plan on getting Little King's Story. Family Game Night? Never.

P.S. If you do curse me, please, not the same curse that 360 owners experience.
