I was part of the preview program and honestly, I've looked at Twitter and Facebook once. I even signed up for a Facebook account to check it out. The only feature that's somewhat worth it to me is Last.fm It is kind of nice to have it on my tv while I do other stuff.

it's not like the subscription price has increased, and they havent taken anything away, so it's still basically free

12 months of Xbox Live $50
Price per a month $4.17
People pay more to play WoW (13.99) and that's just one game... Anyone can cutback $5 a month, (unless they're living under their mom and dads house whom refuse to pay fro the service... if not) stop being cheap and get the service or shut-up about how you wont pay for online gaming because obviously a lot of people "do" and "will" pay for that service.

Poor choice of words on my part, I suppose. I should have said "worth bothering with" instead.
Anyhow, that's just my opinion on the whole thing. Someone else might think these features are the best thing since sliced bread, I don't know. Just putting in my 2 cents.

Also, another thing, just because something is free doesn't mean you should take it or that it should be of any value to you.
If some hairy man in a trench-coat offers to give you a quick one in an alley, should you accept cause it's free?

Gears 2 would be the only game you'd play online?! What the what?! You already have Castle Crashers, right? Now go buy ODST and L4D2 and get a gold account.
I'll be your friend if you do. You can't resist that offer. Don't even try.

$36 a month for Gamefly around now seems to be a waste to me. Especially if you like MW2. Why rent other games right now when in the winter when you can save your money enjoy 1 or 2 and save the other games for the winter.

Yes, but they did use development time that could have been used on something that would be actually add on to the "gaming" experience.
If the Xbox had a web browser then all these useless apps would be obsolete. I don't care for a browser, but it would be much easier than making these apps. Seems like more of a move to make it seem like Xbox live has features worth paying for it.

I dont have Gold right now because its too expensive, maybe I'll get it when its $30. I usually hate console online gaming, match making is an annoying and frustrating experience, generally its 80% waiting and 20% playing. For $50 EVERY single game should have servers like PC games that allow people to choose their own match.

Are you seriously bitching about backwards compatability at the end of 2009?! Sure, it was a biiiiig deal when the machine first came out (4 GODDAMN YEARS AGO) and there were like 3 good games, but now there's literally HUNDREDS of things to play. What 2 games do you want to play that aren't backwards compatable anyway? Like 90% of the worthwhile titles from last gen (okay PoP:TTT, maybe) are all playable anyway.
I swear, people will always find something to complain about.

Just because it's on the list, doesn't mean it works worth a damn.
Are people still bitching about no PS2 BC in the PS3? It's been three years! There's plenty to play now, isn't they!?

You're seriously going to compare the fact that they completely removed BC from the current PS3 (a feature I've used maybe twice in the 3 years I've owned mine) for the fact that the 360 is no longer making old games compatable but still has like 300 playable on every new system out of the box? I literally have 1 original Xbox game that I can't play on there and guess what...it's not one of the greats. Okay, so Oddworld and the last PoP don't work. I can still play Halo 1&2, Panzer Dragoon, Psychonauts, Hulk, Bard's Tale, Buffy, Max Payne and like 75-80% of the other original games I might want to come back to. If there's some insane reason I got a bug up my ass to play that one other game I have that doesn't work (JSRF) I'll go get a used Xbox for like $8. But I won't because there's too many new games coming out every week.

They don't work. Framerate glitches, function drops, crashing, music locking up, etc.
The 360 upscales the games to HD goodness, so it's understandable I want to play prettier versions of the game!

Panzer Dragoon Orta doesn't work for me; it keeps crashing on stage four, the awesome airship stage. The characters in Marvel Vs Capcom are always pixelated, and Silent Hill 2 constantly fails. Some other problems.
Backwards compatibility was really halfarsed; though, I really shouldn't complain as I do have a Xbox, but it's on it's last legs as it is, so a relaiable BC feature would have been really helpful.

The difference between PS2 backwards compatibility and Xbox compatibility is that you get to play PS2 games. You arent exactly missing out on a shitload of classic games by having poor Xbox support so who cares?

I'm trying it now, and it has to be the most pointless thing they've added yet. First, it's just great using my controller to type in my long email and password to sign in. It's not even integrated very well either, I can't see the majority of pictures or other things I normally see when using Facebook on my computer.
Yeah, this was worth the waste of time and the slowing of the marketplace

Or you could leave your dungeon and go for a walk in the park. Maybe get an Icee or cup of hot chocolate while you're out (depending on where you are / what season it is). And most importantly you can CHILL THE FUCK OUT and learn to look at the glass as half-full from time to time.

I'm agreeing with tmac here. This is a worthless feature, and Microsoft has better things to do. How about clearing up the Dashboard lag? Increasing the friends list limit, instead of copping out with FB integration?

I guess this would be cool if Twitter and Facebook wasn't every fucking where else.
I honestly don't see myself using this on either of my console because it's integrated better in other devices in particular cell phones. (HTC Hero FTW)..
These "apps" (that's really what they are) are more practical on mobile devices on the strength of having keyboards alone. Still nice to see integration but lets try something different.
