Looks like I have a stalker, lol.

You are allowed to dislike MW2, I'm perfectly fine with that, many of my friends don't like it as well. But, when you make stupid comments that are not backed up by any factual data, I am going to call you out on that.

Actually, you didn't do your research. I did, and call me an expert on "Western game in Japan" A lot of them did get sucessful hits in Japan.

Killzone 2, got on #3 spot when it came out in Japan. It sold 20,000 copies in Japan.

http://www.n4g.com/ps3/NewsCom-323030.aspx?CT=1#Comments

I recalled GTA 4 got the #1 spot

http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/grand-theft-auto-iv-is-number-1-in-japan/

Also I look at other western game that did well in Japan. Did you forget Mass Effect was also Japan's top selling Western game for a week?

Have a look at these:

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/5/934605_107126_front.jpg (That game got PS3 the best, Japan's equivalent of Greatest Hits)

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/2/932242_100111_front.jpg (Rainbow Six Vegas also got the PS3 the best, and also the Xbox Platinum collection in Japan. That indicate it sold so well in Japan)

It doesn't really make sense to me to release this in December as if there is one game everyone is going to pick up that month its FFXIII.

MW2 will take a week to beat for an average american, so it'll barely take anyone away from FF.

I'll bet that it does considerably better than World at War, what with the Japanese no longer being the main enemies in the game and all.

Microsoft's attempts at the Japanese market have been downright poor, and shouldn't be treated like they tried, because they, really really, REALLY, did not. In some ways, even, it almost comes off as like "Here, you guys like this, right? Here! Try this!", instead of any actual trying on their part. They kind of treated Japan like a bullet on a list.

It's a shame, too. They designed the console to appeal to the Japanese...and that same design seriously contributed to the RRoD...leading to the Japanese not wanting to buy it because of hardware quality.

I fail to see how rushing a system out to market so that it over heats and dies more times than Optimus Prime, is catering to the Japanese. Unless you're saying systems that regularly commit Seppuku are somehow endearing to them.

No, I'm saying the actual design of the exterior was made to appeal more to Japanese tastes. But that concave design led to insufficient space between the DVD drive and the GPU for a real cooling solution, which led to the RRoD, which caused the Japanese to not want it, being perceived as unreliable.

Uh, the main cause of the RRoD was because the GPU would loosen up. This was because it got hot... and it used lead-free solder to comply with European regulations. Had it used a lead-based solder, it'd probably wouldn't have died as often.

Of course, some extra time in development to build a better system base couldn't have hurt, either.

Considering the extreme amounts of violence in this game and it's pro-US format just about everywhere, I have a hard time believing it'll be extremely popular in Japan.

They'd rather play with their Marios and Snakes.

You are not a bad person for not playing the game thoroughly (everyone has different tastes) you are a bad person for making a statement on something you don't know much about. At least you admitted your "mistake"

You are now a good person again. Granted by me.

The game is still about the United States military might ... I felt like I was being recruited while playing it.

haha yes.

Their cute little voices all serious... Every firefight turning the background into some bright swirling colors. Lots of movement lines flying everywhere.

Someone should do this.

I saw the pic before I read the headline and thought they were making another Valkyria Chronicles game.

what people think of this game in 6 months is what will really tell.. will people find the next big thing or will it have the staying power of Counterstrike. (ps.. I don't care a thing for counterstrike)

Good point but I'd bet this will have some serious staying power in North America at least. Some games have it with the multiplayer and some don't. Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 & Gears 2 all had fantastic multiplayer modes yet all of them failed to keep that large base of players around long term in the multiplayer. Sure, you have pockets of people that still play any game but nothing compared to say MW1, W@W, Halo 3, Warhawk, BF:BC or Gears 1 did. MW2 will have some staying power unless MAG & BF Bad Company steal the hearts of gamers come early'10.

I have to agree w/ Wada. While MS has done extensive business deals to get favorable games in Japan, they have failed to market the system's capabilities and titles to the market. I remember they did a survey on what a 360 is, and like 9/10 people didn't know what it was. It wasn't the MS name or something, they just didn't know what it was. As long as Square-Enix markets the shit out of this game like they did for the US and Europe, it should be a done deal. I'm talking ads on every gaming website, TV ads showing the game, magazine articles, in-person demoes, etc.

Well the Japanese didn't get "COD: World At War". So a prolonged wait for MW2 might just do it for sales.

The game doesn't need to chart in Japan. It's already sold 4 million units. Selling only a few thousand in Japan is meaningless (unless, of course, they making ship 4 million units there, just to end up in the bargain bin, haha).

I think you guys need to have a look at this.

http://kotaku.com/5401951/rumor-japanese-people-line-up-for-modern-warfare-2

Well, I think SE may be on to something. But I know Modern Warfare 2 will do a good job in Japan. Look at GTA 4, Capcom didn't know GTA would go platinum (and earn the Ps3 the best). I think Modern Warfare 2 would do a good job in Japan.

@the pic: Modern Warfare anime anthology, confirmed!!!

Goddamnit Japan, that is a fucking terrible M16. I could go on for pages, but in short:
-Carrying handle is way too far back
-Magazine is too short
-Handguard is all wrong for an A2
