Army of Two: The 40th Day to offer weapon customization, garish camo
We've never felt satisfied by the weapon customization options afforded to us by first-person shooters. Oh, three different kinds of scopes? An optional grenade launcher attachment? Yeah, those are pretty cool, we guess -- however, we'd also like a different stock, ammo clip, suppressor and barrel on there as well. Hey, while we're at it, we also need a blender. You know, for when we require a cool coconut smoothie in the middle of a heated firefight.
The latest trailer for Army of Two: The 40th Day gives us a look into the weapon customization engine we've always dreamed of, giving us unparalleled control over our in-game boomsticks. You can quickly turn your military grade M107 into a hulking, unwieldy monstrosity, complete with hideous, circus-themed camouflage. Sadly, the above trailer doesn't show off any kitchen appliance attachments -- we're sure they'll show up as DLC shortly after the game launches on January 12.

I'm confused. Does Griffin hate the customization and is being sarcastic? Or does he really like it and is making jokes about the extreme amount of customization. In my opinion, the more customization the merrier. If you don't want to use a certain camo, then don't. I'm sure someone else will. It's like picking one color of controller over another when you have 10x more than enough money to get both colors. If one breaks, then you've got another ready to go.

Indeed, customization (especially with weapons) is awesome. The first game handled it fairly well, the sequel looks to have really fleshed it out.
rohan @ Nov 18th 2009 2:15PM
that is amazing, but hopefully there is some limitaions on this when u play online, cuz nothing is worst then having a person with a .50 cal that has a secondary fire of RPGs

was he just sniping with a tricked out AK-47?!?!?!?
HOLY FUCKIN SHIT!!
Mike @ Nov 18th 2009 7:32PM
No, that was the stock M107
HAAS599 @ Nov 18th 2009 2:33PM
Looks awesome, though it will be pointless without the ability to add a pez dispenser.
Mazrael @ Nov 18th 2009 2:35PM
Riot shotgun, with a bayonet... and grenade launcher attachment perhaps...
MrAlex @ Nov 18th 2009 2:35PM
Nice improvement on the original version, I felt they almost had it right last time but I thought it was brought down by the lack of parts and the fact that there was a 'best' version of each weapon.
barry flanagan @ Nov 18th 2009 2:55PM
tis game is gonna suck balls
Hell-Reaver @ Nov 18th 2009 3:05PM
I remember when they said this would happen in the first Army of Two, and guess what, it didn't.
hopefully now they will actually come through.
UnluckyBastrd @ Nov 18th 2009 3:09PM
"Ammo clip"
Unless you're shooting a revolver or a rifle like the M1, Lee Enfield, etc, it's a magazine, not a clip.
Utmost Nutszo @ Nov 18th 2009 4:30PM
Congrats, I now know you're knowledgeable about munitions. +1 for you.
PROTIP: No one cares.

this video is teaching us how to customize our weapons like terrorists. someone contact fox.
RobinEivets (Soon to be Crimsic) @ Nov 18th 2009 6:03PM
I'm sorry but, -1 for attempting to troll.
RobinEivets (Soon to be Crimsic) @ Nov 18th 2009 8:43PM
Okay, yeah yeah you all hate Fox I realize this...but honestly..this comment doesn't make any sense...since when have terrorists been known to "customize" their guns?
MikeO. @ Nov 19th 2009 3:34PM
Robin,
You must have missed the boat earlier. Fox news reported that Modern Warfare 2 allows 8 year olds to become terrorists and kill people and there's nothing we can do to stop them.
Google it and chill out a little, it was a joke.
yenrab @ Nov 18th 2009 3:26PM
It's not called an "ammo clip"...it's called a "magazine" or a "mag"
There is no debate on the subject.
johnnynumber5 @ Nov 18th 2009 3:44PM
All they need to do is fix the melee issues with the first game and this will be one of the best games in 2010. I loved the first game and I thought the multiplayer was amazing it's just the melee was completely broken. The first one had some awesome customization but this just blows it out of the water.
XBL: xGeneral DEATHx PSN: Deeth82 [Planeteer | Power of General Hostility and Angst] @ Nov 18th 2009 4:02PM
I used to love how one melee attack had you giving the enemy a swift knee to the ass, followed by the enemy's forward flip and subsequent death. Nice.
Toop @ Nov 18th 2009 7:35PM
Oh man, the melee was so very broken. I hated that there was a distance at which it was possible to be too close to your enemy to shoot, yet too far to melee attack them.
So many unnecessary injuries.
The Swedish Chief @ Nov 18th 2009 3:57PM
I can make a Pikachu-coloured M4 with knife on the front and 500+ round mags?
SWEET!
CynicalStrike @ Nov 18th 2009 5:07PM
I want an assault rifle with a chainsaw mounted to it; I bet no ones ever thought of that.
...Oh wait.
ColorblindMonk @ Nov 18th 2009 6:07PM
This game just suddenly got interesting.

#1. What no RPG with a 50 caliber attachment??? I thought this was Customization??
#2. If you have ever played a Army of Two game you will stay away they suck.
#3. This is an EA product need I remind many gamers of our secret not so secret Embargo against anything made by EA, shhhhh. Its been 10 years for me going strong no money for EA.
#4. What No Heartbeat Sensor, No Throwing Knife? No Thermals ?
#5. I can guarantee you 100% EA will deliberately leave out the BEST weapons and Attachments, To be Sold Later as DLC.
remember what they tried with Battlefield a few years back??
I seriously doubt, that letting go into battle with a Cotton Candy AK47, will sway gamers.
Remember what happened with EA's SPORE, the whole build your own customization thing did not go over so well.
Alex @ Nov 19th 2009 5:12PM
Take Notice of the top right corner of the video.
PART Cost: 40
my guess is that means 40 Microsoft points per attachment
aside from the one you unlock or earn during the game.
I am sure EA will say some PR lingo. Of how this is What Customers are Asking For, or how it deepens and broadens the experience.
Plus with all those attachments, the AI must really suck, having to cope with a guy carrying, a Silenced AK 47 with a 100 round drum, bayonet, RPG and Scope.
All I see is Crap AI, and force fed level design
Don't get robbed. by EA.
golobulus @ Nov 18th 2009 10:45PM
chillax, playaz. goddamn. it's a parody on everyone always jumping to fucked up conclusions.
MadSkeetElite @ Nov 19th 2009 12:28PM
This and Kane & Lynch 2 are gonna be the best under appreciated games of 2010!
