Borderlands soundtrack escapes the vault on Dec. 8
Rejoice! Come December 8, you'll be able to grab your own copy of the Borderlands soundtrack in store or via iTunes, as Sumthing Else Music has announced (via Big Download) that it's handling the publishing rights. There is one issue, however. "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage The Elephant will not be included on the disc, so you're going to need to continue rocking your F5 finger on this YouTube page if you want to keep listening to it. We know, it sucks, but a calloused index finger is a small price to pay for listening to an entirely badass song forever.

... Yeah, I don't refresh the whole YouTube page when I want to watch a video again, I just hit the play button again...
I don't really think the music included in the game is overly... Music-y. Can't see much point in listening to it, to be honest. That's just me, though.
fundando @ Nov 18th 2009 4:34AM
Yeah I played this whole game and I can't say the soundtrack stands out at all.
Dirty @ Nov 18th 2009 10:21AM
Seriously, I used my own music in single player. I never ever do that.
Jason White @ Nov 18th 2009 2:22AM
I don't think I've heard a better song on a game intro vid. CTE is kick ass. They would sell more albums if they included that song on it... idiots.
kojo87 @ Nov 18th 2009 2:24AM
i might check it out. i already have the Cage the Elephant album anyway so no huge loss but it does seem rather foolish to not include it.
btw the rest of the album is pretty solid. Cage the Elephant should be around for a while.
Adam M ONeill @ Nov 18th 2009 3:35AM
I picked it up the day after I bought Borderlands. Damn fine album.
Dao Jones @ Nov 19th 2009 12:22PM
In case anyone cares, and sorry for hi-jacking, but the Cage the Elephant mp3 album is only $2.99 today (11/19) only at Amazon.com.
Here is a link to the mp3 page itself. The link to the album is too long/annoying to post. :)

Borderlands had music?
It was way, way to mellow for the kind of mood I wanted. After the trailer and the intro vid I just wanted beats all over the damn place and loaded up the xbox with Beck and whatnot.
Bryan @ Nov 18th 2009 2:47AM
Aside from the intro theme, I don't pay much attention to the game's music over talking on Skype and killing stuff.. Probably a good thing, it's ambient. Although the battle/danger music is a little over the top at times.
boing.inc @ Nov 20th 2009 7:31AM
The music in this game did catch my ear, I must say. It's got a bunch of tracks that stood out. Will probably get this once it comes out.
Einhanderkiller @ Nov 18th 2009 3:03AM
I didn't notice the music in this game.
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 18th 2009 3:18AM
I only like that intro song and "no heaven"
Sonic @ Nov 18th 2009 3:21AM
Leaving out the intro song takes this down a notch. Great song.
Doug @ Nov 18th 2009 3:45AM
There's music in this game *besides* the opening track? Hm. Great decision.
Ben @ Nov 18th 2009 4:28AM
Sure, excluding Ain't No Rest for the Wicked seems like a foolish move but think of the extra licensing fees they'd have piled on them. I imagine the price to include it in the game would be high enough but when it's the major selling-point of a soundtrack, the pricing would go even higher.

This entire comments section will be filled with people who talk about how much they liked Cage The Elephant before they saw the trailer for Borderlands.
Riley @ Nov 18th 2009 4:34AM
That kind of thing never happens on the internet!
isaac @ Nov 18th 2009 6:16AM
What the hell is wrong with game ceators?!?! Nobody givEs a shit about your crappy ass game music!
Ben @ Nov 18th 2009 8:03AM
Maybe in this case nobody cares but I can think of plenty of cases where I'd pay top dollar for the official soundtrack of a game. I just don't see why it's Borderlands releasing their soundtrack and not the games I want... Probably because they'll get cheap sales to people who think they're getting Ain't No Rest for the Wicked...
Dreaded Fear @ Nov 18th 2009 3:22PM
No one cares about music in videogames?

Cage the Elephant is way too cagey about their music. I have a Znepass and a Napster subscription, and though their music is available on both, it's not available for streaming or downloading on either. Ii probably works in their favor for Ain't no Rest, as it's pretty damn popular, but the songs people don't know, they're just not going to buy. Lighten up guys!
Vcize @ Nov 18th 2009 9:24AM
I pretty much obsess over the music in games and movies. That said, I don't remember noticing the music in this game at all.
Still, I bet it will sell a bunch of copies because of the song in the commercial/intro, even though it's not even included in this.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Nov 18th 2009 10:11AM
This game had a sweet soundtrack.
The sounds of Rain Grenades pouring molten lava on Skags... The screams of the Crimson Lance as acid desolved their bodies... The welps of bandits begging for their lives as they fleed in terror... My scorpio turret laying down round after round of explosive ammunition...
nmiller1980 @ Nov 18th 2009 11:52AM
I think iTunes gave that song ("Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage The Elephant) away for the free download of the week a couple of months back.
norman @ Nov 18th 2009 2:14PM
Still looking for the Sound Track from LittleBigPlanet.
Jason White @ Nov 18th 2009 11:34PM
Me 2.
CH3BURASHKA @ Nov 18th 2009 6:23PM
I would recommend a torrent. I'm not saying I approve, just saying that option exists.
IGLAW @ Nov 18th 2009 4:40PM
protip: open that link and type "repeat" between "youtube" and ".com"
ZZZinger @ Nov 19th 2009 10:44PM
It's not CTE that didn't want it on the CD. It's all got to do with the label and publishing, unfortunately.
