At least they've started doing it. Hopefully, that=more competition.

Gamestop is too dominant.

I actually took a survey that hinted at the idea a few months ago. Also in the survey was a question asking how likely I would be to purchase a used game without the case and manual for an extra 5 dollars off.

Noticed that yesterday before they sent out L4D2...I could buy it for $59.99....but after they sent it out I could buy it "Used" for $44.99 even tho I would be the FIRST person to play the thing.....

I think I will keep going the route I have been going and get it for $10+ off

they have the coupons that go out every quarter....but I have let my monthly fee go by like 3 or 4 days before renewing......so when that 3rd month comes around and its paid for on time I will end up having $10 worth of coupons and thats good shit!! then on top of that they send out $5 coupons every so often just for being a good customer....

I also do that

hey when you bought Lego Rock Band it did include the export code right and worked? I am tempted to buy it from Gamefly, but worried the code will be used by an employee.

Question for you guys... when you buy a game from them "used" that you have rented, do they send the box and manual along?

customers shouldn't have to play the system in order get games on release. They should have decent stock to begin with. That and it's always a roll of the dice on how long returning the games you have will take. In IL they suck ass getting games to you and getting games back in decent times.

I'm in NC....my shipping center is Tampa....2-3 days for them to get it and 2-4 days for it to get back to me....

fact of the matter is they can either buy TOO much of a game and have RIDICULOUS amounts of stock to sell off later(Halo 3: ODST) or not get "enough" and make more money by not having to have a HUGE sell to get rid of them after they are no longer in demand

I have to second Aggie... I tried doing what he suggested before and it works like a charm!! (Thanks by the way for the tip)

Just make sure you have at least one open slot for a game at home and an empty Game Q. Then, add whatever new release you want a couple of days before it releases and you should get it no problem.

I used this and got MW2, Arkham Asylum, and Assassin's Creed 2 no more than two days after launch.

I am in IL and it take 2-3 days for everything and I am able to get new release games quite easily just return a game 2-3 days before the new release game comes out and have it in the top of your Q.

Maybe Gamefly just hates you or you have a packed Game Q which I found out isn't a smart thing to do.

Here's a hint, you're not important.

If you want to be at the top of the queue for a brand new game, have a spot open before and on the release date, keep the game at the top of your queue.

Not that difficult, it takes 1-2 minutes to organize your queue. I got Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed 2 shipped both Mondays and AC2 should be here tomorrow.

I recently canceled my account because I got 1 game in the span of 2 months. I did the technique where you have no game out and only the game you want in your que. It worked fine for 3 years, all of a sudden I stopped getting games. Guess they didn't want my money any more. I used to have 2 or 3 out at a time, some times 4 at a time during the holiday rush. I emailed their support and never heard back from them.

1] Manage your GF queue properly, i.e. empty slots, and nine times out of ten you'll get new releases shipped the first day they're available.

2] Add unreleased titles to your queue as soon as you think of them; GF prioritizes game shipment based on who's had it in their queue longest. If I added MW 2 to my queue three months ago, and you added it last Sunday, they're going to ship mine first and you'll probably have to wait a week or two.

Blockbuster is testing out an online ren service, but it doesn't have the presence right now to pose a significant threat to GameFly. As a recent subscriber to the latter, I can say I'm pleased with the service.

I may be wrong but taxes only apply if the point of sale (shipping location) is in your state.

uhhh get use to it Darth....with this economy in the shitter more and more states are forcing this.....I'm from NC...and we are SUPPOSE to report our online purchases on our taxes so we could pay taxes on them.....but since hardly anyone HONESTLY tells they have done this they are going to start charging the tax straight to the companies...and thereby the company will pass it on to us

yeah I just downgraded service and bought my 2nd that I had. they charged me tax, I know for a fact that the closest shipping center is PA. aka they are pocketing the extra money. pisses me off but it's still a nice discount on the games.

you mean Arizona doesn't charge taxes for online purchases?

I wonder how much longer that will be....everyone is hurting for money...ESPECIALLY State & Local Governments....

Arizona is one of the most interesting states in the US, actually. No taxes on a lot of things.

We had a pretty big budget shortfall (caused by our new Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, our former governor) but the legislature managed to close it up through deep budget cuts rather than tax hikes.

I visited a lot of other states over the summer...I was glad to get back.

The other curious thing is that we can completely bypass our state legislature and vote things directly into law. And recall bills as well.

I'm pretty sure that's more the law of the land than it is curious... At the very least Arizona is not alone in that... at the very least here in California we can put things on the ballot, put them into law, or even amend the state constitution purely by popular vote.

I have a question about gamefly...

So if I go with the 1-game a month rental plan, and there are no due dates...I can return the game 3 months later and they won't charge me a single cent? or will they stop sending me games until I return it?

also, do I have to a subscriber to buy games from the used store?

They charge you a fixed monthly fee, so if you're paying the $9/mo plan, you pay $9, they send you you're game. You keep it as long as you want, but each month they charge you $9 more. When you send it back, they send you the next game on your list.

And you probably don't have to be a subscriber to buy from their used game store.
