Krome Studios lays off 'undisclosed number' of staff
It's always sad when our layoffs tag claims another victim and, today, Australia-based Krome Studios is the latest. The developer responsible for the PS2, PSP, Wii and DS ports of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and who recently wrapped up development on Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes, has been forced to release an "undisclosed number" of its staff, Industry Gamers reports.
Krome CEO Robert Walsh attributes the action to declining game sales industry-wide and says the company has "worked really hard to minimize the impact" on its staff. Walsh does give some of these ex-employees hope, stating that he's currently "pursuing several business opportunities which, if secured, will enable Krome to reemploy some of the staff given notice."

So I guess that any chances of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 4 being made might not exactly be high.
My brother is going to freak when I tell him this.

I downloaded the demo of Clone Wars: Republic heroes a few weeks ago. After playing it for a grand total of two minutes, I immediately deleted it from my hard drive. Love the TV show, but that game was absolute crap.

Thank you for saying this. My friends seem to think the game is the second coming and I can't understand why. The game play was horrid and the voice acting was even worse. I mean, why would the have replacement actors for people who act as replacement actors of the original actors.
Case in point: Yoda sounded horrible.

Perhaps if they had produced a better Hellboy game...

Funny note. That's the 3rd studio that's produced Star Wars games that's either shut it's doors or had a massive layoff.

The Star Wars curse.

Or maybe it's the bad games curse :P

"The stimulus is working."

Th- They're an Australian company. I don't exactly keep up on international economic news (so I don't know if Australia's got their own economic stimulus thing going), but I'm pretty sure that, say, an USA stimulus effort wouldn't really affect a relatively small Australian dev house.
